Duct Cleaning, Central Vac Cleaning, Dryer and Dryer Duct Cleaning/Repair

I hired Dave to perform my duct cleaning services, along with central vac cleaning and dryer/dryer duct cleaning for a home I just recently moved into based on the reviews here on Homestars. I wanted to start fresh, so I opted for the whole package which he gave me a great deal on! I didn't need the carpet cleaning option as the house is hardwood throughout, otherwise, I probably would've asked him to perform that too!

I must say, I couldn't agree more with all the reviews on here combined!

Here's my story and contribution to his Med Air's reviews.

My appointment was for 5:30pm.
I was waiting in the driveway and around that time, a large truck pulled into my street and I thought it was him. As the truck got closer and slowly drove by me , I read the side of the truck and realized it was a different duct cleaning company (I won't disclose the name) which pulled into a house around 5-6 houses down from me. I called Dave and he informed me he was stuck in traffic, which is terrible at that time, so I patiently waited as he said he was close. The other duct cleaning company turned on the vacuum at around 5:40pm (pretty loud) and it remained on until Dave arrived.

Dave and Evan pulled got to my house around 5:45pm. I showed them down into the basement and they assessed the situation/layout of what existing holes they can use, where to make new ones (for a proper cleaning on all sides), where to bring the hose in, etc. By the time we went back out to his truck (before 6pm), the other duct cleaning truck was gone and the street was quiet... for the meantime! We were all quite surprised (especially me) at how fast they came and went! I asked Dave how is was possible that the other company did it in about 15-20 minutes, when he told me it would take him around 3 hours. I did a quick search here on Homestars for reviews and found that company to be 0 stars... so that pretty much explained it.

I spent the entire 3 hours basically overseeing the work that was being performed by Dave and Evan, asked questions along the way, and Dave and Evan fully explained everything. It was a very entertaining 3 hours for me. Not only did they blow very high compressed air in various locations, they also made all these small holes in the duct system which allowed them to insert a small hose with special rubber snake-like endings that beat around the inside of the ducts which was also attached to the compressed air to thoroughly clean inside around the duct walls and push all the dirt towards the vacuum inlet attachment. The sound reminded me of those Alien type movies, when they run through the ducts. hahaha! Dave also cleaned out my furnace and changed the filter for me that I had laying around. They also sprayed a disinfectant solution into the ducts and they taped and plugged all the holes when they were done.

The things that came out of my ducts was shocking to me! Pop cans, drink trays, large chunks of drywall, chunks of wood, old paper work from the builder, a load of other chunks of dirt and debris, etc etc etc. Quite disturbing to know that all that crap was in there!

Evan did the cleaning on my central vac system. He cleaned out all the lines and cleaned the main unit, filter, and canister. Vacuum suction is great now. Prior to this, it was very weak.

Dryer cleaning also went very well! They blew out a ton of dirt, debris and lint. They found that the dryer vent hose within the wall was not connected properly and the dryer was basically venting the hot air and lint into the wall space for who knows how long! So much lint, I probably could've made a pillow out of it! Scary when you think about it! That could easily catch on fire!!! Dave took the time attach the hose within the wall, which was very tricky as he was working with basically the hole in the wall the size of the dryer duct. Once he had his arm in there, there's no way to really see or use his other nad so he had to go by feel. After some time, he was able to find a way to drill the screws in to stabilize the metal hoses in place. He provided the flexible slinky like dryer hose, connected it, did a test run and voila... 100% venting to the outside and not into my wall!

Dave and Evan did an extremely awesome job!!! Dave's methods and techniques for duct cleaning is top notch. He was very open and honest everything, even his equipment. He told me he has the 2nd most powerful vacuum on the market along with a 250 psi compressor. Don't think just because he doesn't have the most powerful vacuum on the market, doesn't mean the level of cleanliness will be less. Like any trade, it's not about having the best equipment, but it's about having the right equipment for a qualified and skilled person that uses the right practices and proper techniques to get the job done perfectly.

The vents blow a lot stronger and colder now and the air does indeed feel a lot fresher/cleaner. I now have a peace of mind that all that crap that came out is out for good!

Many thanks again Dave and Evan!!!

I highly recommend Med Air to anyone who wants the highest level of service! You will be left extremely satisfied.

A/C Unit Install

From the initial assessment, through the installation to the final cleanup, these guys did an excellent job. They installed a new line set and patched up the outside wall, caulked the plenum properly, routed the drain pipes neatly and took the time to do the job right instead of expeditiously. I would definitely recommend this company and i will use them again

Replacement of air conditioner

When our air conditioner stopped working on the hottest day of the year, we were very glad that Stouffville Home & Comfort was able to come to our rescue. We appreciated the free quote and Brian gave us various options ranging from replacing the condenser installing a similar model, or installing an upgraded model at a sale price. We chose the upgraded model as it offered longer warranties on parts as well as a life time warranty on the compressor. Our air conditioner was installed quickly and with no fuss. We would definitely recommend Stouffville Home and Comfort to anyone looking for heating/air conditioning service.

We were thrilled with this company. Jesse and Bill were courteous and professional, did excellent work, we're punctual and cleaned up beautifully.
Recommended highly. We have a crawl space in the basement of our cottage and I'm sure it wasn't easy but everything worked out well.

Air Conditioner

Its been a really hot spring/summer so far and it was getting to the point where my tower fan would start blowing hot air at me instead of cooling me. I started looking for and interviewing air conditioning companies in and around the GTA. It was confusing! No one company quoted me the same price and everyone seemed to want to sell me something different. After a week and a half of phoning around I narrowed it down to 2 companies.

I ultimately decided to go with Stouffville Home and Comfort based on the fact that they really sold me on the "quality" aspect. Eddy (the sales manager) took a lot of time explaining to me how important an installation was and that his company used only high end materials. As others have stated here already, Stouffville Home and Comfort are NOT the cheapest out there (Eddy even stated that very bluntly) by far but with this type of investment you really get what you pay for. SHC are also very busy so if you are thinking about hiring them make sure you do it sooner than later. When I finally decided on SHC, it took them 2 weeks to get to my install which is inconvenient but at this time of year if you can get a company to install an AC unit the next day you really have to wonder why they arent busy...

When they finally came to do my install (Brian himself and Rob came) I could see why it took them so long. They dont use subcontractors so they guarantee their work and they didnt just drill a hole and slap it in in an hour or 2. They spent almost 5.5 hours making sure everything was perfect. They were very professional when they arrived and they even put down a bunch of yoga mats to line a walkway for them to my basement so they didnt step on my carpets. They did the pressure test and leak test which I've heard some subcontractors will "forget" to do and then the units have problems later on which will result in costly fixes and they added in enough coolant to make sure the air came out at the right temp. Sometimes you'll need to spend more money upfront to save yourself from headaches later on. If youre on the fence at all about the price, just spend it now and get the right product with a proper installation. SHC also has one of the better warranty's. The manufacturer warranty covers 10 years parts and compressor. SHC covers a 5 year labor warranty which was great! They also dont require you to do yearly maintenance through them in order to get that 5 year warranty so you can do it yourself or you can do it every other year with them. If you do a maintenance with them every year, they can extend your warranty up to 10 years. Other companies give you the manufacturer 10 year parts and compressor warranty but give you only 1 year labor warranty and if you want an extended labor warranty you have to pay more AND you have to hire them back every year to do maintenance so SHC already has a competitive advantage.

All in all, I'm very pleased with my new air conditioner and I am very happy with how smoothly everything went. I know this review may seem "TOO" positive but I really cant say anything negative because everything went so smoothly. If youre considering an AC unit, Stouffville Home and Comfort should be at the top of your list.

New Furnance

We installed a new American Standard furnance through stouffville home and comfort in January of this year. I have to say dealing with Brian was fantastic. He is extremly knowledgeable, articulates the options available, and is very responsive. We had several other companies quote, but felt most comfortable with Brian. The install work was great, and Brian and his team were always couteous and always had time for questions. I would not hesistate to use them again, and would highly recommend them.

Replacement of Furnace and Air Conditioning

Called Eddy at Stouffville Home Comfort for assistance when AC broke over the weekend. My wife was panicked as we had a large party scheduled for the following Friday evening.

Eddie visited my home in Thornhill on monday morning in Thornhill to assess the situation and then drove to my office at Dufferin & Lawrence to fully explain the benefits of replacing either AC or both the AC & Furnace. After deciding to replace both systems Eddie contacted the owner Brian to verify that the job could be installed by Friday.

On Friday Brian, Eddy and another technician arrived early and worked the whole day to ensure the house was cool by the time the guests arrived at 7:30pm. The job was neatly done, efficient and professional.

Great party, happy wife ..... and many years of efficient heating and cooling to look forward.

I absolutely endorse Brian, Eddy and the staff at Stouffville Home and Comfort

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Ask a lot of questions and make sure you get explanations that are simple to understand. Stoufville explain things clearly and executed in a very timely and professional; fashion
