10/10

I hired Dave to perform my duct cleaning services, along with central vac cleaning and dryer/dryer duct cleaning for a home I just recently moved into based on the reviews here on Homestars. I wanted to start fresh, so I opted for the whole package which he gave me a great deal on! I didn't need the carpet cleaning option as the house is hardwood throughout, otherwise, I probably would've asked him to perform that too! I must say, I couldn't agree more with all the reviews on here combined! Here's my story and contribution to his Med Air's reviews. My appointment was for 5:30pm. I was waiting in the driveway and around that time, a large truck pulled into my street and I thought it was him. As the truck got closer and slowly drove by me , I read the side of the truck and realized it was a different duct cleaning company (I won't disclose the name) which pulled into a house around 5-6 houses down from me. I called Dave and he informed me he was stuck in traffic, which is terrible at that time, so I patiently waited as he said he was close. The other duct cleaning company turned on the vacuum at around 5:40pm (pretty loud) and it remained on until Dave arrived. Dave and Evan pulled got to my house around 5:45pm. I showed them down into the basement and they assessed the situation/layout of what existing holes they can use, where to make new ones (for a proper cleaning on all sides), where to bring the hose in, etc. By the time we went back out to his truck (before 6pm), the other duct cleaning truck was gone and the street was quiet... for the meantime! We were all quite surprised (especially me) at how fast they came and went! I asked Dave how is was possible that the other company did it in about 15-20 minutes, when he told me it would take him around 3 hours. I did a quick search here on Homestars for reviews and found that company to be 0 stars... so that pretty much explained it. I spent the entire 3 hours basically overseeing the work that was being performed by Dave and Evan, asked questions along the way, and Dave and Evan fully explained everything. It was a very entertaining 3 hours for me. Not only did they blow very high compressed air in various locations, they also made all these small holes in the duct system which allowed them to insert a small hose with special rubber snake-like endings that beat around the inside of the ducts which was also attached to the compressed air to thoroughly clean inside around the duct walls and push all the dirt towards the vacuum inlet attachment. The sound reminded me of those Alien type movies, when they run through the ducts. hahaha! Dave also cleaned out my furnace and changed the filter for me that I had laying around. They also sprayed a disinfectant solution into the ducts and they taped and plugged all the holes when they were done. The things that came out of my ducts was shocking to me! Pop cans, drink trays, large chunks of drywall, chunks of wood, old paper work from the builder, a load of other chunks of dirt and debris, etc etc etc. Quite disturbing to know that all that crap was in there! Evan did the cleaning on my central vac system. He cleaned out all the lines and cleaned the main unit, filter, and canister. Vacuum suction is great now. Prior to this, it was very weak. Dryer cleaning also went very well! They blew out a ton of dirt, debris and lint. They found that the dryer vent hose within the wall was not connected properly and the dryer was basically venting the hot air and lint into the wall space for who knows how long! So much lint, I probably could've made a pillow out of it! Scary when you think about it! That could easily catch on fire!!! Dave took the time attach the hose within the wall, which was very tricky as he was working with basically the hole in the wall the size of the dryer duct. Once he had his arm in there, there's no way to really see or use his other nad so he had to go by feel. After some time, he was able to find a way to drill the screws in to stabilize the metal hoses in place. He provided the flexible slinky like dryer hose, connected it, did a test run and voila... 100% venting to the outside and not into my wall! Dave and Evan did an extremely awesome job!!! Dave's methods and techniques for duct cleaning is top notch. He was very open and honest everything, even his equipment. He told me he has the 2nd most powerful vacuum on the market along with a 250 psi compressor. Don't think just because he doesn't have the most powerful vacuum on the market, doesn't mean the level of cleanliness will be less. Like any trade, it's not about having the best equipment, but it's about having the right equipment for a qualified and skilled person that uses the right practices and proper techniques to get the job done perfectly. The vents blow a lot stronger and colder now and the air does indeed feel a lot fresher/cleaner. I now have a peace of mind that all that crap that came out is out for good! Many thanks again Dave and Evan!!! I highly recommend Med Air to anyone who wants the highest level of service! You will be left extremely satisfied.
