Tender Touch Moving & Storage

On moving day, the mover I had booked called to say they would be delayed four hours and could only provide a 16' van. I canceled them and called Tender Touch.

Lynn was very calming and reassured me we would be taken care of. Within a couple hours we had two trucks and five guys (including the yard boss) working away. Cheerful, helpful, careful and hardworking, the crew and Phil were great. Their estimate was right on and they made me trust movers again.

My day started at 8:45 when I received a call from Linh telling me that one of the crewmen had booked off sick last minute. She assured me that 4 men and a truck will show up soon, but delayed in traffic. This was no problem for me as I appreciated being updated prior to my start time. The first truck and crew of 4 guys showed up...did the walk through and Ali explained clearly what to expect and that a second truck will show up as soon as it was finished another job.

The process went smoothly throughout the morning and early afternoon. Nothing was too difficult for this crew. Items that would make me recoil in envisioned pain where handled with expertise without damaging property or causing any personal injury.

The crew filled the first truck to capacity with the skill of craftsmen. From the back, it appeared like a colossal intricate Japanese wooden puzzle.

They finished by 2:30 and where headed to our new house in Vaughan…the second truck hadn’t arrived and created much anxiety for me as I could not be in 2 places at one time and wasn’t prepared to pay 144/hour while “I” waited for the truck to show. I called Linh, who told me it could be up to 2 hours for the truck to arrive. I explained my situation and she put me in touch with Jason who worked out a deal that our hourly rate would be suspended until the second truck arrived and I would receive a break on the driving time from Oakville to Vaughan. What happened is the original crew dropped the first truck to their yard and 3 of them came back with the second truck and completed the loading.

At the end of the day, I had no real complaint about the crews. The crew/s assigned to my move was skilled and demonstrated professional team effort and respect for each other, me and my property.

My rating for a 9 is based on critical analysis of allotted time, estimated costs for completion of the job and the online self-serve process for estimating how much time and money the move may cost.

My initial estimate of $1539.00, plus GST, was based on 3 men, 1 truck and 13.5 hours at $114.00/hour. Therefore to expedite the process, I paid a 250.00 premium for a second truck and $144.00/hour for four men in anticipation that the job will be completed in less time.

Although my day was in excess of 15 hours, my total hours billed were 13.25 hours at $144.00/hour (1908.00) plus GST and a $138.00 plus GST/PST for packing supplies. This blew away the original ‘online’ estimate by almost $1,000.00.

I believe this critique could be avoided by having a representative physically come by and present a detailed estimate with recommendations, i.e., how many trucks, additional packing supplies and movers are required. With this information, I would have been more prepared for the bottom line.

The day was very long and physical for everyone. I appreciated that Ali and his crew members were there for the long haul. I would have no hesitation recommending Tender Touch to anyone deciding who to go with on their next move.

Our move was quite large and the two crews that we had were wonderful. We have moved 8 times in the last 24 years and this was by far the best due to the great people at teder touch that helped us reach our destination. Thanks to each of the kind, hardworking fellows!

Tender touch did a very professional job moving my home contents. I went into this arrangement knowing that most house moves are not without problems due to the scam type nature of this unregulated industry. These movers did a great job without any damage to my furniture or property. I've had limited exposure to these companies so a comparison between other movers would be hard to make. I did however get three quotes, all from the top home stars ratings. Tender touch, Europa and Emerald Movers. Europa gave me a quote but would not provide a contract or call me back so I took them off my short list, Emerald movers appeared quite professional but the move was going to be done over two days. Emerald and Tender Touch had similar prices. I plan to move again within 12 months and will probably call Tender Touch or Emerald. I did not provide a 10/10 rating because I felt the move could have been completed with 3 men rather than the 4 that came over. I don't mean to be critical as they certainly did a very good job.

These guys are fantastic! They didn't just show up on time, but were early. Everything was packed quickly and with care and even when access at the delivery end turned out to be worse than expected they took it all in stride with good humour. You honestly couldn't ask for better people!

The crew that moved my family and I were curteous and polite.They took extra care in rapping our furniture and valuables which i thought was great and unexpected.It was such a stressfull day but we got through it with the help of the movers that made everything run so much more smooth.Great job guys keep it up!

Though this project would be a relatively small one for this company, meticulous care was taken with each item and all arrived in good order. The communication from all employees was timely and detailed. They were also very patient and specific with calls made to them. In comparing cost with other companies, that too was a very pleasant surprise. I believe there were three gentlemen involved, one from Toronto, one from Vancouver, and the van driver. I know one man was Phillip, and the driver was Jeff Crawford, but just now can't recall the other persons name. Thank you all so very much! .....and especially to Jeff and his helper who went the extra mile to unload the items under somewhat unusual circumstances.

For anyone who has a complaint about movers, all I can say is, "you get what you pay for". Like most moving companies, Tender Touch charges by the hour. Sure, you can get a lowball quote by underestimating the amount of stuff you have, but in the end you're only kidding yourself <i>because movers charge by the hour</i>.

Tender Touch gave me a reasonable quote. Four guys showed up on time, wrapped all my furniture in blankets (even the Ikea crap!) and hauled furniture for 8 hours. BEST MOVE EVER. I would totally recommend these guys.

We recently used Tender Touch to switch an office and bedroom between two floors and take our stuff to storage in prep for new baby #2; did the same with them when baby #1 arrived, and we have used them in past to move us out / into two other homes. We will continue to use them and recommend them without hesitation. All of the various crews we have met are polite, fast & efficient, and careful. The guys took care of everything from protecting our interiors to furniture disassembly/assembly to packing/unpacking. They don't waste time, and make the hassle of moving a much more pleasant experience.

I have moved about 20 times in my lifetime,so I have experienced both bad and good movers. Wayne and Demelo were professional, efficient and friendly. I would not hesitate to use them again and to recommend them to friends.
