Tender touch did a very professional job moving my home contents. I went into this arrangement knowing that most house moves are not without problems due to the scam type nature of this unregulated industry. These movers did a great job without any damage to my furniture or property. I've had limited exposure to these companies so a comparison between other movers would be hard to make. I did however get three quotes, all from the top home stars ratings. Tender touch, Europa and Emerald Movers. Europa gave me a quote but would not provide a contract or call me back so I took them off my short list, Emerald movers appeared quite professional but the move was going to be done over two days. Emerald and Tender Touch had similar prices. I plan to move again within 12 months and will probably call Tender Touch or Emerald. I did not provide a 10/10 rating because I felt the move could have been completed with 3 men rather than the 4 that came over. I don't mean to be critical as they certainly did a very good job.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $2,100.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Considering I was within 1 KM of the truck storage location I don't think a 1 hour travel time in the morning should have been an automatic charge. I understand this is there standard charge.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- The typical "move" insurance seems to be a bit of a rip off. I think it's best to arrange for a good quality moving company rather then rely on a damage claim.
- Company Response
Hello Michael,
Thank you very much for your feedback and support. We look forward to moving you again in the near future. In response to using 3 men versus 4 men; our policy is that once the estimated weight of your shipment goes over approximately 12,000 lbs, additional manpower is added. In your case, you had about 17,000 lbs (originally estimated at 14,000 lbs). The notes indicated that the crew moved 1 fully loaded 26 ft 5 ton truck and another similar size truck that was ¾ full. Although it is possible, this is a considerable amount of items to move for 3 men as fatigue will set in after a certain length of time as expected. In our experience, 3 men on a large move will begin to fade after about 8 hours of straight physical labour and increase your final cost. You will always get a bigger bang for your buck and reduce the risk for damage with added movers as the time it takes to complete the move is decreased by more hands doing the work. In turn, the movers will be less fatigued and the move will be completed in several hours less. The end result is that the customer saves money, the move goes much more smoothly and the crew is not completely drained after the shift. I have reviewed your paperwork and am very happy to note the crew was able to complete you move in 11.5 hours – a 1.5 hr reduction off your original estimate with less weight than was moved on move day.
Thanks again for your business.
