Do not be fooled

Please don't be fooled by their fancy advertisements and all the bells and whistles they claim to provide in their service. I paid upwards of $650 for my condo inspection, and turns out the HVAC was not functioning properly, and they did not notify of this, its a year later and I'm stuck having to deal with this on my own dime. I called my Pillar to Post and the receptionist was rude and right away placed the blame on me rather than coming up with a solution. She had the "inspector" call me back, and he did the exact same. I understand condo's are smaller than general detached homes, however, he spent a total of 30 mins in there, and I was under the impression that something so crucial would have been caught, and of course, would have affected my decision to place on offer on the property. They gave me the go ahead that "everything was fine", however, there were a slew of things they had missed and now I'm on the hook for. They have a fancy website, even give you a virtual tour of your property with a binder with useless information, however, they're disguising their inability to perform the job. Please don't bother, go to a private company who takes it more seriously. In a world where everything is unaffordable, I have to shell out money I dont have to fix a problem i paid $650 to avoid.

Awful inspectors

Terrible experience. Our inspector was not educated on what to be looking for. We upgraded to the package that included the infrared camera and to inspect for rodent activity. In numerous occasions I asked if he saw any signs of mice and he said “I don’t really touch on that.” Well I am pretty sure I paid for that service. Needless to say we now have a mouse infestation problem. He waved the infrared camera around and said “no water damage or temperature indicators.” I could have been more thorough. For the price you pay-this company is NOT WORTH IT!

Very bad inspection

I have used a specific person from pillar to post for my other inspections but for this house, my contact at pillar to post was not available so I called someone from Unionville. He did not check everything like hot tub second pump does not work from day one but neither did he check nor did he told us. I would never reccommend pillar to post from unionville to anyone

Home inspection

Brian the franchise owner was all talk and no rock..missed several items in the home inspection. Example: I was told by Brian that the shingles had 3-5 yrs at least before needing reshingled..The shingles had to be replaced 1 year later.Missed some outside electrical defeciencies and some crappy workmanship by previous owner. COSTLY MISSES BY PILLAR TO POST.

Home Inspection

Not impressed with these guys. They don't do a thorough inspection of the house you're purchasing, and take a checklist approach to home inspection that's mostly visual. They looked at roof flashing from 50 meters away using binoculars, and most of their "advice" was something that even the most novice homebuyer would know. The written report they provided me with is a joke.

Not recommended.

Home inspection

Pillar to post is so lucky the reviews on here are written by decently too nice ppl because a good review to me for them would be 3 out of 10 but I'm not feeling happy sappy today so I'm feeling more accurate.

2 out of 10

He felt that a few receptacles in my house had "possible knob and tube" but the rest seems to be good because he check rooms upstairs.
Any single light check would have made it clear there was knob and tube in over 60 percent of the house not to mention a quick peak into my attic would have shown knob and tube was the only wiring over the back addition.
Also he was very rude. Very rude numerous times and needed to be paid cash? I did say that's weird that you are such a big company and don't take credit card.
So yeah I had to replace almost all electrical in my house.
Ill never hire them ever again.

Pre-purchase home inspection

I hired pillar to post to provide me with pre-purchase home inspections on two separate occasions. On the first, I thought that the inspection seemed fairly thorough and when I looked at the report everything seemed okay - I'd never seen a report before. I then saw a pre-inspection report for another home, and noted that those inspectors provided information about things like the estimated costs for improvements, something that pillar did not provide. On the second inspection we were given a "discount" of $25, which was sort of like a backhanded favour - given that the inspection was $425. The inspection report for this house did not include any information about an attic (whether there ever was one or any access to it), left out information about broken tiles in the laundry room that I had noted, was unable to determine if ducts above ovens were venting properly, etc. Overall, I was fairly surprised by the number of little things that were missed, and found the report information to be fairly copy-and-paste, whereas other reports I have since seen appear much more tailored to each inspection and legible to non-contractor types. Really, for two first time homebuyers, spending $900 to not buy two homes is a huge amount, and we were disappointed to see the high quality of reports from other providers compared to what we had received, which felt lacking.

Pre-purchase home inspection

Before buying my home we contracted Pillar To Post to do a home inspection for us.

The report we received was detailed and fairly thorough. Their report also included several tips on maintenance that have proven helpful. The inspector walked us through the house and what to expect, and we felt much more secure and comfortable in our purchase afterwards.

Also, happily, now that we purchased the home there haven't been any surprises!

Home inspection pre sale

We had a home inspection from Thomas in Poco. I can honestly say that I have very high expectations and Thomas exceeded them substantially. His service was thorough and he did not waiver or skimp In his opinion. He walked us through the inspection process in plain English (home inspection for dummies like me) and left us with a great binder full of the details. He made recommendations on maintenance as well as letting us know how the home has been maintained. Beautiful and very reassuring. His direct honesty and complete lack of "trying to sell us something" approach was comforting. Great guy and more than we expected. Very well done

Home inspection prior to purchase

In May 2000 my partner bought the house (bungalow) we currently live in. She employed the services of a home inspector from Pillar to Post prior to purchasing the house. The home inspection turned up very little to worry my partner. The home inspector, Ray, identified minor improvements that needed to be addressed. We were satisfied that the house was safe and secure. Imagine our shock then when, as a result of a leaky roof last month (Sept. 2012) and the subsequent removal of insulation, we found that our house still contained live knob and tube wiring on most of the main floor. We immediately called an electrician to replace this wiring with 14-2 and bring it to code. When the electrician arrived he explained that anyone doing a proper inspection would only have had to remove a switch plate or two in a couple of locations in the house and she/he would have discovered knob and tube wiring. Honestly, it makes me wonder what else the approximately $300 inspection didn't find! I say find an inspector who is more thorough.....and careful.
