Total Home Renovation

Mike is the worst of the worst. If he shows you pictures of home renos ask him that you want to speak to the home owners as well. Pictures are deceiving..............home owners will tell you the truth!

Remove Plaster from 2 bedrooms

we used Mike in the past and he always managed to find an extra cost for reno's this time he quoted us on a job of removing plaster in 2 rms and spray foaming and drywalling. he delayed the job by a month and when he showed up on Monday morning to start the job he wants to review the job with me only for him to tell me he never quoted me on sprayfoam just traditional insulation which was not what I asked him for and he even told me that my pregnant wife would need to be away for 3 days due to the smell of the spray foam and left me hanging and said forget about it and left leaving me high and dry without even starting the job after i had the window company remove the the framing from the windw.

house plastering and painting

These people started off neatly and meaning well, but by the end of the week the job was a mess. The plastering job on the stucco ceiling was very poorly done and is very noticable. They said that they would match paint colours in rooms, but the paint colours were not the same at all and are now quite noticable and have to be repainted by another company. They left an awful mess in the basement, walkway and driveway that has taken several days to wash off with rain. It took a whole weekend of our cleaning to have the basement half decently clean again. When we called them to try to resolve this issue, they said that they would come that week and we are still waiting. We cut our losses and have hired another company to clean up after their work.

Plastering after knob and tube remediation

Mike was great. He was able to come on short notice and have a crew do a fantastic job in only a few days. My wife arrived home just before they started their clean up, saw dust everywhere, and shuddered at the thought of having to tackle the mess. They asked her to come back in an hour and when she did she found the house spotless.

I would, and have, given my recommendation to Palac Contracting. When we do our major reno in a couple of years, Mike will definitely be on our list of contractors to speak with.

bathroom makeover and basement refinishing

I hired Palac contracting to finish the taping and mud for the work that was done in my basement. Mike came and gave me two quotes 1 for the taping, finshing and painting of 2500 + 3500 for a refaceing of the bathroom which included ONLY re & re of the toilet, shower and vanity and fixing the plumbing. Once the shower was removed I had authorised a complete redo of the basement washroom which was then quoted to me as being 8000.00. This along with the original quote of 2500 to finish the rest brings the quote to 10500. Having added some minor extras along the way the assumption on my part was perhaps adding another 2-2500 in additional costs thereby bringing the value to no more then 13000. After having worked with less then a full crew for two weeks it was time for xmas and new years. The contractor failed to show up on January 2nd- however did show up on January 7th at which point a funny turn of events occured. This contractor decided he needed to review his initial quote with me and then denied having quoted me 2500 but instead insisted it was 12500. After the disagreement the contractor having taken two draws of $5000 each walked off the job leaving me with perhaps less then 8000 worth of work done. My washroom is not even back together nor is the kitchen in place nor are the walls painted. Too cocky for hiw own good and will be pursuing this matter through the courts as contractor reneged on his own words.

Basement reno

For a overall contrator. Mike and Tomas were very professional in their dealings with us. Neat work and middle of the road pricing. We have since had all of our work done by them.
