incredibly happy with our Marvin Windows!

We are incredibly happy with our Marvin Windows purchase. What really attracted us to them was the profile of their Infinity series. We felt that the quality of build of their fiberglass windows was much better than the vinyl and/or fiberglass windows offered by other companies. Yes, they cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

Jim, our salesperson, was honest to a fault, something we greatly grew to appreciate. Marvins inside team members were both courteous and responsive. The shining stars were the installation crew. Mark and his team were impressive. They worked meticulously to remove the old windows then installed the new windows, all while cleaning up as they go. Their use and maneuvering of scaffolding around our home showed their commitment to onsite safety (no guys hanging off ladders here).

We wish the sales cycle, delivery time, and availability for installation could have been faster but given the recent demands in the industry along with the supply chain issues we readily accepted the timelines provided. The final result being that we didnt wait any longer than quoted.

Taking our complete experience with Marvin into consideration, they are an easy company to recommend.

All new windows & doors

Don’t deliver what they promised and getting service after install is near impossible. As an example, their storm doors lock automatically when they slam closed after exiting and there is no keyed entry so we get locked out and only option is to risk breaking the glass or screen by manually popping it out of the frame to allow access to interior lock. Marvin’s solution is to break the lock mechanism—are you kidding me? Also, installer did a mediocre job and damaged windows frames and trims. Marvin promised to fix and later refused. Marvin was to repair any damage to painted walls and trims ... they later refused. One of three doors is always fogged up or frozen ... they blame the location of the door and refuse to fix/investigate via a full reinstall. Never-ending condensation or freezing on interior of windows and again they blame the house (did not have this issue with our old windows) Master bedroom window allows wind to howl through ... so loud we can’t sleep ... they won’t fix this. Exterior hardware and weather stripping was supposed to be black or sliver toned to match windows color and other hardware ... they delivered/installed BEIGE and refuse to fix unless we pay more on top of the $80K plus they have received. On and on the list goes!

Windows

Not a great customer service experience. The first few windows we purchased the salesperson kept messing up the document outlining all the different aspects of the windows and the colours. We'd correct something they'd indicate only to have them then change something else, which would require another round of discussions to correct that mistake ... on and on it went! Finally the windows were installed, and indeed, they are lovely. But once again when it came to another round of orders for windows we've had nothing but customer service problems. We were advised to put in a casement for one of our replacements instead of the double hung we were replacing the larger ones with. We were told at the time of the agreement being drafted up that the colours would match the other windows. However, the screen wasn't the same as the rest and when we pointed this out we were told they made a mistake in the ordering and would get it replaced immediately. Well, 5 months later were were just informed that casement window screens don't have the same colour options as the rest. Would have been nice to have known this before we dropped a lot of money on a window that would even match the colour to the rest.

Window replacement

Marvin windows replaced the windows in my victorian home, with new aluminum clad windows outside and painted wood inside.
Their installer did a great job, and put new sills and frames in place as well, so that windows sat properly. All in all, good work.

Windows

We used Marvin to install our windows and doors when we did a major renovation approximately ten years ago. We chose them, despite their high price because their products are exceptionally attractive. MY ADVICE IS DON'T USE THEM. The windows gave us trouble from the first year. Although Marvin did send technicians to adjust the windows, we eventually gave up because they continued to be difficult to open and close (impossible for my wife) and now the seals have gone. We're now having to replace all the windows after just 10 or so years and after spending $100 000 with them.

If you have a heritage/period home, look elsewhere

I had about 16 Marvin windows installed over a decade ago. Great windows. Great installation. They were virtually all double hung windows. For the past 3 years, I have been trying to get a new back door built and installed. Their installer just kept stalling so, I called them myself and someone came over to measure for it and 2 windows.... only to be informed that they could not provide the windows and could only provide the door but, without installation. All of their installers refused to do the job - because the door is below grade. The door is ancient and crumbling and they refuse service because the door is below grade and has been for over 100 years. After 3 years of waiting, I'm refused service and I get a suggestion to have someone install a commercial steel door on my Heritage Designated period home. Apparently, look elsewhere for customer service or for anything not "standard".

Marvin

I would highly recommend against Marvin. They were late in delivery. The windows were broken on delivery and they would not accept responsibility for replacing or refunding as "that was not corporate policy".

Basement windows and patio door

Marvin Windows replaced my old wooden basement windows with fiberglass windows. Their installer Ron is truly a craftsman. He even took the time to install new casing in the interior side of the windows. Marvin did such a good job that we gave them the job of replacing our patio door. We are planning on replacing a bay window this spring and will certainly give the job to Marvin.

Replacement of all home windows and doors

We chose Marvin windows to replace all our current windows and doors and are very happy with the result. The windows and doors are beautiful, warm and secure. Our only concern has been the service. Our locks break on a frighteningly frequent basis and although the piece is simple enough to replace, it is very hard to get a service guy to come to your home. They never return eir calls and take forever to come.
