1 bedroom condo to storage

i came across iMove by a random search for Richmond Hill movers on google about a month ago. Our 1 bedroom condo was sold and had to be vacated by April 15th. We would get posession of our new house in June and therefore required storage for the time being.

I made the reservation by phone and we chose a 3 man option over 2 to make things go faster and since there was no minimum required it seemed to be a more cost-efficient option.
Although iMove does not operate their own self storage, their office found a unit close to our future residence in Etobicoke and we received our 1st month for free which works out be $350.00 savings for us (on a 10x30 unit).

The move itself took a little longer than expected, however, I asked for every single piece to be blanket-wrapped before putting into storage. Since we were doing the move-out 2 months later, iMove allowed us to keep the blankets for time being without any surcharge.

Overall the move went very well and the crew was more than friendly, especially, when comparing to our previous
experience from a few years ago. 10 being perfect, i would rate our move at 9 in terms of labour. Unfortunately the crew was not equipped for taking my Visa so i will rate the overall experience at 8. However, i am sure this will be resolved by our move out.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
We did not do a home estimate, however, we have moved before and knew what to expect. Communicate and explain all the details involved (access restrictions, elevator times, closing time, if someone is moving in same day) to avoid a bad experience. Book ahead of time, especially during summer time!

Moved furniture

I used IMOVE CANADA Company after researching quotations from local companies. The offered quotation and total service package was competitive; I had no idea about the efficiency of the service by that time. It was professional communication with personal care to the fine details by management, and result was excellent. The crew arrived in time and they really know how to do this job. Thank u so much IMOVE CANADA”

Move

Avoid these crooks!!! We hired them to move us from Hamilton to Burlington. They called when they were supposed to arrive and said the truck was stuck at an inspection station with problems and that it was being held there and would not be released. They told us they would arrange another truck and after several hours we were told that a truck would be there within an hour. An hour later when no truck arrived they stopped answering the phone and we never heard from them again. The new owner of our old house was trying to move in and we were stuck. Imagine the nightmare!!!

Move from Ottawa to Toronto

Avoid IMoveCanada! After signing a contract with them and keeping in constant communication with IMove reps, the movers did not show up. Not at all!! Nor did IMove ever call me back after countless attempts. Imagine being left stranded on a friday evening and having to move out of an apartment in Ottawa by midnight, while needing to be in Toronto the next morning. That is what IMove did to me and my family. What kind of company does that?! It was a complete nightmare.
Avoid IMove at all costs.

LONG DISTANCE MOVING

I hired this company to move my one-br apartment from Montreal to Toronto. They came 7 hours late!!! they promised to have 3 guys + 2 wardrobes, they came with one guy, no wardrobe, one dolly and that is all. The guy was extremely impolite, he asked me to help him to move every heavy stuff...

They were supposed to deliver my stuff the day after at 12:00PM. They did not show up, they never picked up the phone or returned the call. Finally I booked the elevator for two times that day and I had to pay for another truck because I was supposed to move some stuff to somewhere else. They never came on that day and nor did they explained or notified me of their delay. After 48 hours delay they came with mystuff. They only got cash (contrary to what they have told me and in their website). I found out why when I opened my original LCD TV box. THEY HAD STOLEN MY LCD TV AND FILLED THE BOX WITH DIRT!!! I called the police immediately and filed this and called the company too, they never picked up. I tried calling from another number, so the picked up and they told me that they will come and fill a claim and they never came back and they never picked up again.
I am suing them now and will not let them treat people who trust in their business. I HAVE ALL THE EVIDENCES and if you want tos ue them too we can file a claim all together which would be more effective.

Local Residential Move

Don't use this company. These movers didn't even show up to the right building. When they showed up at the destination building instead of where the furniture was, they were 1-1/2 hours late. I missed my elevator windows and the whole day was wasted. Now I'm screwed trying to get elevators coordinated and a new mover on short notice.

Apartment Moving

DO NOT USE IMOVE!
I booked the company and was impressed by the initial professionalism on the phone and through the website and then my movers NEVER SHOWED UP. I was left frantically trying to secure a truck on the friday night before the long weekend and ever since they have not been returning my calls (nor have they called to explain their lack of presence).
I have never been less impressed with a service before.

home relocation from Richmond HIll to Oakville

This was by far the worst home move I have ever experienced. They were almost 2 hours late, they sent the wrong size of truck, 16ft vs 22ft despite having inspected the contents to be moved. They didn't bring any moving equipment such as dollies, etc with them. Once they unloaded the first load, numerous promises were made that a second truck was the way to pick up the balance of the home contents due to the original truck being the wrong size. My Bill has written right on "2nd load free"...they never came for the second load, never called and will not accept nor return phone calls and/or emails. They would not unload 1st load until I had paid in full.

The damages to our 35" Sony Tv, dressers, dining room table and chairs, etc. was fairly extensive. I have a wood hand crafted dresser which still shows their salty snowy footprints because they were walking on my furniture.

I have sent an email requesting that they send an insurance adjuster, all to no avail.

If you want a stress reduced or stress free, damage free move....DO NOT CHOOSE imove Canada.

Local move

First of all, the movers were 2 hours late, then when they finally showed up, the two movers sat and talked on the phone with someone from the company because for some reason, they thought they were being photographed, so they refused to do anything. After that was cleared up, they opened the truck and came totally unprepared. There was no wardrobes or boxes as promised and in our service agreement. Then, they tried charging me TRIPLE what was in my service agreement. In my service agreement, it was stated that I'd be charged the transportation fee of $65 and then it would be $65 per hour with no minimum hours. But when we arrived at the destination (which was only 1 hour after they'd started the move in the first place) they tried telling me that either I paid the moving fee plus 4 hours or they were taking my stuff and storing it at my expense until I paid the full amount! After I screamed at a gentleman named Paul from the company on the phone, the two movers (who spoke maybe 5 words in english so were very difficult to communicate with) told me they'd charge just the $130. I agreed, they took my stuff off the truck and then to my surprise, the two movers started threatening me and said that I had to pay them $250! Being that I'm a female and was all by myself with two large men, I felt very threatened, and just gave them the money as I was scared about what would happen if I didn't. I've now contacted the manager Andrew to hopefully get this resolved!

2500sq foot office move from First Financial Place

The crew did an excellent job in helping us prepare for our office move as we had to meet the timeframe allocated for dock usage at our extremely busy location. I was happy with the plastic bin delivery ahead of the move and the quality of service during the move.

We had a bit of a delay with workstation re-assembly, otherwise i would've given 5 stars overall. A tad-bit of training and i'm sure your crew will improve.

Once again thank you for your help.
