Gem Windows and Doors

I bought French doors and a kitchen window for a new kitchen reno. The salesman made rude comments such as "you're no listening to me" and "your father is a bad engineer" when I was trying to get clarification. Upon installation they broke the French doors and provided the wrong brick measurements for the window. After calling them repeatedly they stopped answering my calls and I was forced to pay $900 to another contractor to fix the window. 2 months on the French doors are still not fixed.

Have bought from Gem in the past, and while the end product is very good, getting to the end of the job can be very frustrating. Recently ordered a new front door. When it arrived for installation (a 2 weeks after it had originally been promised) part of it was painted the wrong colour, there were two small dents, and the lock set was not the one we'd ordered (in other words, no one checked the order before it went out). So, we sent it back to be fixed and were assured that it would be no more than 3 or 4 days, a week maximum, to get it all corrected, and that it would be installed as soon as the new lock set came in and the paint was fixed. A week and a half later we called and were told that the door and lock set were in fact in, but that their installers were too busy and it would be 2 weeks before they could come and install the door. We suggested trying a different installer, and the door was finally installed a few days later - 3 MONTHS to the day after we had ordered it. It looks beautiful, but the frustration involved was considerable.

WARNING about GEM . Normally i wouldn't write something like this but. I had all the windows and doors installed in my home replaced by Gem windows. I was given a lifetime warranty on the windows and doors. Recently i have tried multiple times to have some warranty work done on broken hardware. I have made multiple calls and was even given an email address to send a request to. With the phone calls i was told they were too busy to do any warranty work. The email went unanswered. It has been 2 months of calls and waiting. This is why i want people to beware of this company if they are hoping them to counting on any type of response to a warranty issue. Don't count on it. This is not an acceptable form of customer service in any business.

Beautiful door system. Quality product. Very professional and quick installation job. Great customer service. Well worth the price paid. We really liked that we were able to see the product in person at the GEM Windows and Doors showroom prior to ordering. Highly satisfied.

We were met by a very pleasant and knowledgeable sales person who told us of his extensive knowledge of the door and window market (Spiros). He asked us about the style and colour of the exterior of our home and was able to show us in catalogues door styles that would be suitable. He was then able to show us sample doors that were in his showroom. This made the selection process relatively easy. He made a point to show us the working mechanisms (locks, handles hinges and dead bolt appliances). The door was promised in ten weeks and was delivered on time. The installation was made when promised and completed within two hours.. The installers were pleasant, efficient and cleaned up the work area. We are totally satisfied with the service we received at the show room, the advice we received in the selection of the door and the friendly service and careful work of the two installers. We are entirely satisfied with the value received for the price paid for this product and would highly recommend GEM Windows and doors to anyone seeking their product line.

Had a 6 pane bow window changed to a 5 pane bow window with two casement windows that open on either end. The existing window looked nice from the outside but none of the windows opened and there was always ice build up in the winter because it was not well insulated. The new window was very well insulated with foam blocks and foam insulation. I also had an awning window put in my new kitchen as well as a new back door and front door with a full side light. Spiros, the owner, provided me with the best options for my budget. Gem was also very accommodating to my various timelines as I had several renovations being completed in a short timeframe. Frank and Joe were excellent installers. I am very happy with my new doors and windows. I believe that I received high quality products and workmanship for what I paid.

As repeat customers of Gem Windows we have been extremely satisfied. We have purchased windows and a patio door from Gem. They offer good quality products, the sales team was very knowledgeable and the installation team was superb. I would use Gem Windows and Doors again.
