Gem Windows and Doors

I ordered the windows and doors for the 4300 sf house. The window and door received with 6 5/8" thick jamb which does not work for brick/stone exterior. The doors was shipped with no brick mould. Call the office to resolve the problem and no one calls me back. Talked to the sale man a few time and it seems that it is not his job. Product is good except a mistake to the jambs. The service is horrible.

I wanted to wait at least a year to post a review on the new window we had installed in a rental unit to see how the performance of the windows during the winter season. The window held up extremely well...Installation of the windows went seamless. We are very pleased!

We were very happy with our experience with GEM windows, in fact it is our second time having them install windows. We will hire them again and won't hesitate to refer them!

I am happy with the work the Installers did, considering the cold weather, they did an excellent job. I found the office staff courteous and pleasant. I had used GEM in the past to replace other windows and in both instances I was satisfied with their products and service.

A Gem rep. came and measured the windows. In a few days an estimate arrived by email. I accepted it and they came to verify the measurements. I was called when the windows were to be installed and the installers arrived on time, placed carpets throughout the work area and did the installation in a timely manner. They cleaned up afterwards and gave a demonstration on how the windows operate. I had used Gem previously and used them this time because of the great service they provided.

sales personel were informative and helpful with making the right choices. They gave us time to decide if this was the right product & price for us.
installers were quick, clean & efficient.

We were extremely pleased with the level of customer service, from the initial contact in the store to the actual window installation. We are repeat customers as we had purchased our front door from GEM 5 years ago. We are very happy with our new windows!

Gem Windows and doors

I ordered a replacement front door from GEM Windows and doors, a combination
exterior door with two side lights, a fiberglass door
with 2 venting side lites.

The process started March 4 2014. March 4 2014 I called the office to
arrange a time to visit the office and sort out the details. I met with
Philip Constand on March 6 2014. We finalized the style and colour.
Philip came up with a price of $8226.40 and I provided a deposit of $3200.

I live in Prince Edward County.
Philip said he would arrange to have the installer, Joe, visit and make
measurements. Through April, May and June I contacted Philip to see
when the installer would visit. Finally the measurements were done and
the wait continued waiting for installation. During the wait an
additional self storing door with retractable screen was added to the
order.

The two man installer crew arrived Monday, July 28 2014.
When the work was complete, Joe, the installer asked me to watch him as he
assembled the screen in the screen door. I realized why two days later
when I got up and the screen had retracted by its self. I was able with
the help of a local installer to repair the screen door with the screen
still accessible. The fix lasted one day. The screen is no longer
accessible the spring has pull the screen into the door. The screen now
flaps in the wind. It is now clear why the installer wanted to
show me how to assemble the door when it needed repair.
I have called Philip at GEM multiple times with no solution. Dozens
of times he has promised to have the manucaturer come and repair the
screen.

In December 2014 I received a call saying that someone would come and repair
the screen door in the week of January 12 2015. Well no one came and I
am still waiting. There was no contact number so I my only option is to
contact GEM. Philip has quit answering calls and returning calls.

As you can see from the other GEM entries to HomeStars web site there are
multiple complaints regarding the retractable screens.
I am not the only complainant.

I would appreciate if you can get any action from GEM.

Still waiting after 3 months for windows. Promised a 6-8 wk delivery. Poor communication and customer service. No response to emails & calls. They do not honour price match guarantee stated on invoice. Buyer BEWARE!
