Framing Dames

The Framing Dames do superior work!! Catherine helped me and I was so impressed by her expertise and the care she took with my items. She helped advise me about colors, materials and frame style and I could not be more pleased with the result.

Sure, they're definitely what most would call expensive but you most certainly get what you pay for. You're not just getting a DIY frame with some cheap matboard - you're getting museum quality, archival framing, with quality materials that will last your lifetime if not longer.

These people know their craft inside and out - there isn't anyone I would trust more with my artwork and photography. If you're looking for low-budget framing..you get what you pay for. These people give you quality work you can count on.

I took in five original works of art to be framed for an upcoming gallery show and got great service and very creative suggestions. (Glass, wooden frames and double mattes were chosen.) The final products were beyond expectations and well worth the price. Conservation and acid-free materials were used so as to protect my works which were on paper. (Average of $200/piece) My originals were professionally treated and handled with care in the construction.
I also had a large newspaper show-review framed by them this week and once again am very pleased with the outcome. I have posted a picture of it on social media and have received many positive comments regarding it.

I bought a Groupon for custom framing from the Framing Dames. I thought it was a bit far out to go for something I can get in many places close by, but bought it thinking it was a good discount. Boy was I wrong.

I brought in a couple 8x10 photos to get framed in a basic thin black wood frame. I thought that a $100 voucher would cover most of the cost. We started with one photo, picked out the frame and border and she gave me a quote of $170 before tax for one picture! And this was one of the cheapest frames they had in the store.

$170 for a single 8x10 photo to be framed is insane.

The lady who was helping me was finding ways to bring the cost down a bit (smaller border inside, for example) but it was not having much effect.

The other lady, who I assume is in charge, told her she could not do certain things to reduce the cost because I had a voucher. I then told her that I thought her prices were very high considering that I have had pictures twice that size framed for half the price downtown and she said that it was probably shoddy work. I suppose she was offended by me saying her prices were high because she then said 'Look, we're a business, not a charity.'

I packed my things up and left.
