Our garage door was damaged and needed replacement. The sales agent was knowledgeable and suggested we get an insulated door to protect the water pipes in the garage as well keep the bedroom above the g arabesque warmer. He was right! There is an almost 10 degree difference between the outside and interior garage temperatures.
Workman arrived on time and cleaned completely when the job was done.
Money well spent!

Gears broke on our 10 year old opener. Just age. Couldn’t close the door. Dodd’s, like last time, came within 4 hrs, fixed opener, tightened up chain better than it was before, Greased the tracks and were done in 30-45m. Very efficient, reliable, and honest company.

Called Dodd’s because I had used them before to fix a spring. As a single woman I’m used to companies trying to take advantage of my lack of knowledge in certain aspects of home repair. Dodd’s doesn’t do that. They assess the problem, only fix what’s necessary for very reasonable cost in a very timely manner, and make suggestions (ie. this door is very old, very cheap as I inherited from previous home owner) on options for a new door down the line. Needed an old failing garage door opener replaced. Discussed a few options and went with a battery backup wifi enabled unit and it’s been great. We don’t have a door into our garage so in a power outage we couldn’t access items in the garage. The battery backup allows us to do so which is great. Also comes with an app and allows remote control of the door and notifications when opened or left open for a set time. Great features to have in a connected world. They also replaced weather stripping and installed a key release for the door.

We had two single-car wooden garage doors which needed to be replaced. We got quotations from three companies via HomeStars and a fourth from Costco. Dodds was one of the two companies who sent a sales representative, and they were the only company to spend time explaining their product and providing a catalog with photos of their doors. Dodd's price was in the middle of the range, within $200 of two other quotations. We chose Dodds because their doors had Polyurethane insulation and upgraded hardware, and they had a great rating at HomeStars.
In late August, 2019, five weeks after we accepted their quotation, Dodds supplied and installed the tracks and doors and the door openers which we supplied. The installation took a full day and it was obvious that the installer was a professional with many years of experience. I was surprised that the job could be done by a single person, but the installation was done to perfection and the installer removed the old doors and openers and swept the garage. He programmed all of the remote controls and helped me program the remote control in my car.
A few weeks later a two-man team installed the aluminum capping around the outside of the trim in front of the doors.
The new doors have insulated windows and it's unbelievable how bright our garage is when the doors are closed. Although the new openers turn on the lights automatically when they sense motion, the lights really aren't needed during the day.
We have had several comments from our guests and neighbours about how nice our new doors look, and we agree. Like many others here at HomeStars, I would recommend Dodds to install you garage doors.
