Every step with Derek was easy, forthright and genuine: he quoted us on a rainy Sunday morning (Father's Day, no less!), showed up on time with a crew that was fast, knowledgable and quite funny (GREAT group of guys), and left our backyard spotless when they were done. Great service, highly recommended and we will definitely use them again should we need to in the future.

Derek and his crew of six removed a massive old ash tree for me today. I called them based on the reviews I found at this site and was not disappointed. They arrived on time, worked non-stop until the job was done. This was a huge old tree - the stump about 4 ' across and it must have been 70 / 80 feet high. The crew were very careful to avoid damaging our pool and numerous ornamental shrubs and smaller trees. There was some minor damage to smaller plants and some major divots left in the lawn where the huge branches and sections of truck landed but all landed where the guys wanted them to. This was to be expected with a tree of this size and Derek explained all this when he came by to look at the job and give his estimate which was fair so there were no surprises. When the crew were finished all the debris and as much sawdust as possible was swept up and the yard was left tidy. I was so pleased with the quality of work and the professional service that Derek and his great crew are coming back later in the year to remove 3 more nasty old ash trees that have been affected by the ash borer. I will also add that all the guys were pleasant to deal with. They were intelligent, polite and acted professionally at all times and I look forward to dealing with them again.

Derek and his crew planted a cedar hedge at the back of my Garden and cleared away some overgrowth. I was very impressed not only with Derek but with every member of his crew they were personable, professional and efficient. Derek called me twice on completion of the job just to provide me with instructions to care for the hedge and also to ensure I was happy with the job. I will use Derek for any future jobs that I require and would highly recommend him.

They arrived on time, were professional, completed the job quickly and left the yard clean when they were done (and the price was right).

They removed 4 trees, 3 of which were close to a fence and a 4th hanging over a neighbour's shed. They removed all of them with no damage to my or my neighbours property. I'd requested they leave me the firewood and they did so, cut to the right size and piled nicely exactly where I'd asked.

I didn't realize until later, but they even took away a bundle of tree clippings that I had tied at the side of the house but hadn't yet put to the curb.

Bob and crew were in to remove a couple pine trees and shrubs, they did a good job, were quick and cleaned up well once complete. They were also prompt in returning my initial call for quotation and were able to come out and quote soon after. Would definitely have them back and recommend them.

Called Derek for a quote to remove 13 - 14 (elm, cedar) trees on our property. He made some suggestions and actually suggested that i didn't need some services (e.g., grinding out the stumps) which would have added to the cost of the job. He provided an honest opinion/assessment of the job I wanted to complete. He and his crew came within a week, were on time and completed the job quickly and efficiently. Derek was there on the job and made sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. At the end of the job he offered me the cedar mulch from the wood chipper to use in my backyard. He also cleared a pile of old large branches that i had previously trimmed myself at no extra charge.

When he came back the week after to do a job for my neighbour, he also cleaned up some smaller trees on my property that i had noticed after they had left the previous week, again at no extra charge. And again he provided me with more cedar mulch from my neighbour's job - in total he likely gave me at least a couple hundred dollars worth of good quality cedar mulch for free.

I would highly recommend - from start to finish, Derek and his crew were friendly, joked around with my kids who were watching, overall an excellent experience at a very reasonable price. A big thanks Derek and his crew.

Derek and crew are punctual and personable. They are fast and furious but most importantly, left the place clean, like they were never here. The only issue was damage to a potted plant on the deck (in hindsight, I should have moved it). Work like this should be left to the pros. Call Derek. I'll be calling him for another job to remove trees in the front of my property.

I had a huge birch which was dead and needed taken down as well as pruning on two very large silver maples and some other trees as well. The team from Derek's led by arborist Peter did an amazing job. Arriving early everyday they completed the work in a couple of days and left the yard looking great. Climbing trees is dangerous work and should be left to pros like Peter. My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the job and would not hesitate to hire them again or refer them to others. Thanks Peter and your assistants as well who did a great job.

These guys are pros! They showed up early to the job, got it done quickly and even had a good sized team that worked together to get it done quickly. All in all, it was 30 minutes to do something I thought would take about an hour, and they were extremely nice to work with. I would recommend them to anyone that wants a professional tree removal service at a great price.

I called Derek based on high ratings he received from the HomeStars site. He responded promptly and came that Sunday at 10am (as promised) for an estimate. During his visit, he gave me a very good price for removing two tall trees & stumps from my back yard. On agreed day, he showed up at 8:30am (again, exactly as promised) with a crew of 6 people, 3 trucks and 2 machines. I expected this work to last the whole morning, due to numerous power, telephone and cable TV wires, but these guys were done by 10am, after only 1.5 hrs.

It was impressive to watch how professionally and efficiently they worked as a team. They removed all the wood from my backyard and cleaned the area. You have an option to keep the wood or to have them remove it. Great work by Derek's Tree Service – I highly recommend them, 10+ ! They are #1 on HomeStars for a reason.
