I first heard Steve Brannan on CBC radio years ago offering advice and information about appliance maintenance and repairs. Since then have had him repair my stove and my washing machine. Steve is extremely prompt in replying to telephone inquiries as well as coming quickly to assess the problem and carry out repairs. Steve is extremely knowledgeable about appliances and helpful with advice. In addition, he is approachable and professional. I highly recommend Steve.

I have used Brannan's Appliance twice. Each time service and outcome were excellent. Mr. Brannan is knowledgeable and pleasant. He assesses problems quickly and really understands appliances. I will use him again

I have used Steve's services many times over the past 15 years. So have all the members of my extended family. Not only can we count on him to show up when he says he will, his costs are always fair and we don't even need to be home. Most recently, he repaired a front load washing machine and gave us advise on how to prevent the problem from happening again. I would HIGHLY recommend Steve to everyone.

I've never even met Steve Brannan, but he's been to my home three times to repair appliances (a dryer and a dishwasher) and to install an appliance (a new dishwasher). In each case, I left a key for him and he came in, did the work and left while my wife and I were at work. The work is top-notch, he seems like a real expert in his field, and he's totally trustworthy and reliable. Steve Brannon came recommended via Facebook friends. I emailed him about my suddenly noisy washer on a Sunday; he called me first thing Monday morning.

He explained that my kind of washer has a useful life of 5-10 years -- don't they build anything to last anymore? -- and that he would tell me when he assessed the situation in person whether it was worth repairing. He asked me to describe the noise I had mentioned in my email -- I had also included photos of the machine -- and he made no promises, cautioning that he charges a minimum of $150 for condo service calls.

Based on his over-the-phone prognosis, repairs might be as much as $350, at which point I might as well consider a new machine. He showed up promptly, and was very professional.

I had suspected that the cause of the problem was a bra underwire that had gone AWOL during a wash and guess what? It had. He managed to get it out and that seemed to solve the problem, fortunately with no apparent permanent damage.

Before leaving he ran the machine and said there were no leaks but, during the next few washes, I should keep an eye on it just in case there were.

Two lessons here.

One, call Steve. He's great!

Two, never machine wash a garment with underwires, and that includes bathing suits!

Ever since I saw Steve on CBC's Marketplace, I was secretly hoping that something would break down so I could have the chance to use his service. Sure enough, the burner on my one-year old electric stove died and I got my chance! Steve replied immediately to my email, was flexible with my crazy schedule and even showed up early at the appointed time. He assessed the damage quickly and gave me valuable and honest advice on the pros/cons of electric and gas stoves. To help save me some $, he happily installed the spare terminal block that I had and thoroughly tested everything to make sure all was ok. On top of that, he charged me less than what was originally quoted, which was a nice surprise. As everyone else here has noted, Steve is simply the best - he's honest, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. He's now on my speed dial for anything else that might break down - it's wonderful to know that he's only a phone call away. Count me a fan!

Had a leak in my dishwasher; called Steve Brannan after Googling kitchen appliance repairs and he called back immediately. He diagnosed the issue over the phone, ordered the part and showed up on time two days later and fixed the problem. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

At the end of July, I was moving out of my condo and discovered that my dishwasher was leaking. I seldom used it, and because I sold the condo I needed to get it fixed before the next owner moved in. I called Steve and he was one of maybe 5 people (out of, oh, 20 that I called) who even returned my call, but the ONLY person who could come the next morning (my moving day). He was on time, and a really nice guy. He was trustworthy- I told him that I basically just didn't want to get sued, so to do the absolute minimum to get the appliance to work for the new owner, and he was really honest about my options. He solved the problem in about a half hour, and also gave me a discount for paying cash. I would recommend him in a snap.

Steve looked at our dishwasher, which he had previously repaired for another problem, and advised that it would be more economical to purchase a new one, given the repair cost and age of the dishwasher. Previous repairs have been completed in a first-class manner.

I inherited a very old washing machine when I moved into my home 3 years ago. Recently, it started leaking. I thought it was not worth getting it repaired and was about to spend approximately $2000 to buy an new washer and dryer. I remembered homestars and decided to see if there was anyone out there who could give me an estimate on a repair. Luckily, I saw Steve Brannan's reviews and called him. He returned my call within five minutes and came, on time, that afternoon. He repaired the machine quickly and it is working beautifully now. He assured me that the washer still had several years of life left in it. Steve saved me a lot of money, having my washer repaired rather than replaced. He is an honest, skilled and reliable person. I recommend him highly.
