On August 7th, I noticed a fishy smell coming from my electrical panel. A quick online search suggested breakers (or wiring insulation) were burning, producing the smell. I called AC Electrical, and Steve came out quickly, after regular working hours, temporarily replaced two breakers that were likely culprits, and recommended a complete panel replacement. He has many years of experience and is willing to share stories and advice. I eventually decided on getting the Schneider Electric D-Square panel with a whole home surge protector. Steve came back out on Monday, August 10th and quickly installed the panel. He allowed me to watch (I wanted to see if I could learn anything, and he didn't mind). Steve was willing to teach and offered tips throughout the day (including where the proper location was to install the whole home surge protector). He also told us about his trips and showed pictures, which were interesting and helped pass the time while waiting for Toronto Hydro to come by to disconnect the power. With respect to customer service, whenever I had questions or concerns, Hellen and Nick were extremely professional over the phone. I feel, as a customer, with Hellen around answering calls, even if you're worried about anything, she'll try her best to make you feel comfortable and assured. Nick is also friendly and willing to share advice. The fishy smell is slowly dissipating, and I'm glad to have one less thing to worry about!

After buying a house in July 2011, we noticed our roof was pretty warped (and a roofer came by to inspect and almost fell through our roof; the plywood was shot in certain areas). The problem was we didn't have enough air intake. We had a number of different roofers come by. Mega City Roofing gave us a quote. and Tom seemed pretty trustworthy (we read the reviews here). We paid a little more for a 15 year warranty. And in August, Tom and his company came by and did the work. Cleanup was pretty good, and everyone seemed friendly. The first problem occurred during the start of the cold season. We could feel a draft in our skylights. I called Tom, and he came out and used Great Stuff spray foam to fill gaps where wind was getting through. The draft situation is much better now. A far more serious problem developed during the winter. Condensation was collecting in our attic, and the water was dripping through to the second floor of the house through the ceiling. Our attic was so wet and dripping you could have probably taken a shower. At the time, we were very upset because this situation was the reason we paid 9K to avoid. The lack of air intake and warped plywood was the reason we had roofers basically replace our roof. I complained (somewhat bitterly) to Tom, and he eventually agreed to come out to take a look. 9K is a lot of money to me, and at the time when his company did work on our roof, he said we didn't need whirlybird turbines on our roof. The situation was pretty unpleasant. Well, as it turns out, the house builder, Monarch (according to the real estate listing), had 2 by 4s and drywall in behind the soffits, essentially blocking all air intake. Tom got his worker to come by, and they installed two whirlybird turbines. They also went around the perimeter of the house knocking out pieces of the 2 by 4s to let air intake through. I can't blame Tom for not knowing the builder decided to completely seal off any possibility of air intake to our attic when building the house. Tom said he'd never seen anything like that before, and I was also pretty flabbergasted. Anyway, although I could tell Tom didn't really want to come by (probably because I had been fairly accusatory), he did (a lot of contractors don't bother after they get their money), and he did what he could to help resolve my concerns. Our attic is dryer now (and seems to be drying out; plywood, from what I can see just popping my head up in the attic seems dry). I'm not sure if the problem is completely resolved, but it's certainly much better than it was. I'm thankful that Tom came by again and helped us out. Most contractors probably would have left us hanging out to dry (literally). In the end, Mega City Roofing stands by their work. A lot of companies don't. Thank you, Tom

Paul and Steve spent three hours cleaning ducts in my house on August 31, 2011. I just recently moved in to a new location and felt it was important to have my house as clean as possible. Paul answered all of my questions and gave me a deal on cleaning my bathroom exhaust vents. Steve was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects. I think he liked our pet rabbit. Anyway, Paul and Steve did an excellent job, and given they worked for three hours, I feel I got a deal on the service they provided. Paul concluded his visit by reminding me how often I should change my filters, and I was surprised to learn that he didn't recommend getting the ducts cleaned in my house every year. Clearly, he is very honest. I would not hesitate to recommend The Duct Cleaning Specialists.

Hey Aaron, glad we were finally able to get the work done for you, as you had bigger problems than the duct cleaning to tackle first. Doing a proper and thorough job takes time, and if we had to spend 6 hours, the job needs to be done properly, and thats is why you called us (hopefully, lol) I appreciate you taking the time to write a lengthy review about your experience with us, and glad to read that you were pleased with our service. Congrats again on the new home to you and your wife, all the best, and if I can be of any service, please feel free to contact me. Paul

Tom came by to install a deadbolt on our kitchen side-door on August 31, 2011. Nice guy and funny. He talked about his passion for Lacrosse, and he seemed to enjoy teaching about how to install the lock properly. He made us 5 key copies too. He does quality work.

Mr. Brian Pellet visited my house on August 25th, 2011 to fix a leak under my kitchen sink. He gave me a free quote, told me the entire plumbing under my sink did NOT need to be redone, and, after I agreed to proceed with his suggested repair, Mr. Pellet finished the job effectively. The area under my sink is still dry! He also noted that I had a rusty valve and water filter clamp that wasn't up to code. That part was going to fail in a couple of years, so Mr. Pellet replaced those parts with copper pipe, fittings, and a brass valve. I'm happy to not have to worry about the old fittings suddenly rusting away and causing water to flood everywhere several years from now. And obviously it's better to have everything up to code so that insurance companies will still cover you. He also noticed my kitchen sink drain was somewhat clogged, and sold me a bottle of BiochoiceES drain cleaner. I poured in a capful at night, and the next morning I was surprised to see the water drain much faster in my sink! I was a little scared that I had been sold an expensive bottle of liquid plumber, but this BiochoiceES product is obviously far more effective. Since I just recently bought a house (and because I was pleased with the work Mr. Pellet had done), I decided to get a lifetime membership with Mr. Rooter. With a house, one never knows when a good plumber will be needed, and the membership ensures lower pricing on repairs. Due to the work I had done, I saved approximately 50% off the membership fees anyway. Mr. Pellet is an extremely nice person, and I would recommend his work unreservedly! He is the reason I bought a membership. Excellent job! Thank you!
