I contacted John McLellan Contracting to correct a water leak on the front of our house. Their sales consultant Malcolm promptly came out and provided a detailed quote. The communication from this company is outstanding. Emails are quickly provided with details from start to finish. Blake and Nathaniel were the contractors assigned to our job. The guys were exceptional in every way. Within the first hour of removing the vinyl siding and window trim boards they found the problem and provided me with pictures. They completely sealed the wall with Blueskin waterproof membrane. All exposed wood was metal capped including curved window trim boards. They installed new vinyl siding which matched our twenty year old siding. I personally watched the care that these guys put into our job and treated it as if it was their own home. They explained each step taken and the job site was left clean each day. Thanks to Kate for co-ordinating the material for our job. I highly recommend John McLellan Contracting and will look forward to working with them again in the future.

Roy Conner and his assistant Tom built a new set of stairs from our garage to the house. Our home inspector had advised us that the old stairs were not safe and no handrail made them even more of a hazard. This was a small job for Roy but an important one for us. Roy and Tom had a new staircase completed in one day. The stairs are very strong and we now have the proper spaced stringers and risers and handrails on both sides of the staircase. These stairs will never need replacing again. We are pleased to recommend Roy Conner for even your smallest renovation job. The quality of his work was great, the job was done quickly and the site was left clean.

We were initially looking for someone to repair rotted woodwork on the front of our house. I was introduced to Adrian of Victorian Painting. I liked his approach from our initial meeting. He was going to remove the rotted woodwork and replace it with a composite material and maintain the overall appearance of the house. He would also repaint all the exterior woodwork. Adrian is an excellent craftsman and painter with an eye for detail. We would highly recommend Adrian to anyone who wants a professional job using high quality materials.

I called Palmer Brothers as our water heater would not come on. Each time it tried it would shut itself down. It was our worst snow storm this year when I called first thing in the morning and Dave Palmer answered the phone. Dave had a couple of guys out that afternoon and some parts had to be ordered. Since the water heater was 9 years old Dave gave me the option of replacing or repairing. I chose to repair and put in all new parts. Dave's guys had the water heater up and running the next morning. I have used Palmer Brothers for many years and would highly recommend their service and installation for HVAC needs.

We hired Chris to clean up our over grown back yard. He returned our call promptly and kept us up to date on exactly when he would arrive. Chris and his crew were polite and did a great job. We had six trees to remove and some difficult stumps close to our deck and neighboring fences. Chris loves a challenge. He trimmed our front shrubs while he was here. All was cleaned up and we now have a back yard we can use. We would highly recommend Chris and iTrim4U.

I had used Paul previously and was very happy with his work. Today my kitchen faucet had a nasty leak. I called Paul and he was at my place in half an hour. He had all the parts required to fix the faucet on his truck. There were a number of pieces required to do the repair and I think Paul could do this in his sleep. I will definitely use Plumber On The Go again and highly recommend him.

Captain Electric has installed a new 200 amp circuit breaker panel and some new smoke/carbon monoxide alarms in our home. The panel upgrades a 34 year old fuse panel. My initial call was pleasantly responded to by a real person. She quickly set up a technician to come out and see me and followed up on the day to let me know he was on his way..great service. Enrico was the electrician that came and quickly had me fixed up with new smoke alarms. He inspected my electrical panel and outline exactly what it would cost to replace it. He spent time to explain the companies licensing, insuring and regulatory policies they follow. I was very impressed with Enrico and Brian on the day of my panel changeover. Pickering hydro had been scheduled for the turn off/on and the necessary permits had all been looked after by Captain Electric. Enrico literally rolled out a red carpet and put on booties to keep our home clean. Enrico worked tirelessly at the panel all day without a break. He certainly knew what he was doing to rip out the old panel and meticulously reintegrate everything into the new system. He also installed a surge protector for the whole house. Enrico and Brian went through the house and labelled every breaker on the panel so I know exactly what each one controls. I am completely satisfied with the work done and recommend Captain Electric for any future electrical needs. Final price was exactly what Enrico quoted.

We contacted Lowell after reading his recommendations on Home Stars and could not have been happier. We were looking for a total renovation on our Master Bathroom. Lowell had some great ideas, not only design wise, (that gave us a larger shower) but also addressing some safety issues as well. Lowell met us at the tile shop to help with our selection of product. He wanted to ensure we were getting good quality tiles and at a good price. We were confident he knew what would work and what would not in our bathroom. We watch a lot of HGTV so we knew what has to go into a renovation. Lowell’s crew were on the job early every morning until completion. Brady, one of the crew members’, was great. He was very meticulous and respectful of our home. Having the opportunity to see Brady’s work on a daily basis was reassuring. We know that not only do we have the right products on the outside; we also have the right products, properly installed behind the walls, floors and ceiling. We are happy to recommend Lyons Home Improvements and look forward to working with them again!

After watching many episodes of Holmes on Homes, I was very concerned to find the right roofing contractor to replace my shingles. Luckily I contacted Robert Landry at The Cutting Edge Roofing. Robert was out to give me a quote within a couple of hours of my intial call. Like Mike Holmes, Robert knows roofing. His recommendations and quality of products and workmanship has given me a roof that will far surpass the job I had done previously (and that lasted 17 years). The installation of ice and water shield on the entire roof, a ridge venting system, quality shingles and finally Smart Screen gutter protection will mean a dry, ventilated worry free roof for many years to come. Roberts crew were very pleasant and all seemed knowledgeable about roofing, and were actually enjoying the job they were doing. They covered the entire working area with tarps and put plywood sheeting over my windows. The job was finished in one day and exactly as quoted.
