Our refrigerator stopped working. The freezer worked just fine, but the refrigerator was warm. After another fridge repair company no-showed for the appointment that we had arranged, so we called High Tech. Atiar arrived within two hours -- at 8:00 at night! -- to assess the situation. He determined the source of the problem within five minutes. He offered a very reasonable quote to fix the issue (the fan motor needed replacing), he had the right part with him, and within 30 minutes, he had the fridge up and running again. In addition to being prompt and knowledgable, Atiar was very friendly, explained the problem clearly, and had the issue resolved in no time. Will definitely use this company again in future should the need arise and would definitely recommend.

A few weeks ago my oven stopped working entirely: the gas would turn on, but the oven wouldn't light. I called Modern Appliance, and they immediately offered two times that they could come in that week. Though I had originally thought that the only issue was the igniter, it soon became clear that other issues were also at play. The repair person (whose name I can't remember at the moment) worked incredibly patiently to resolve the issue, and my oven is now working perfectly. He also reminded me of the $10 coupon code on Homestars, which I otherwise would have forgotten about! Great service.

After having trouble scheduling with the company we had used previously, I found True Home Comfort on Home Stars. Jason called me back, and scheduled an appointment with me for later that week. He showed up on time, and worked quickly and efficiently. He made sure that our furnace was in good working order, and suggested things to consider in the future (duct cleaning, a new humidifier) without pushing these services/products. I will definitely use True Home Comfort again.

When it became apparent that we were going to have to entirely redo our flat roof (as well as reshingling the garage) we were very cautious about who we were going to hire for this major piece of work. After researching various companies on Home Stars, we received inspections and quotes from three different companies. The price quoted by Jason at Canadian Roofing Company was comparable to the others-- what really set this company apart was the level of detail and clear dedication to the work. Jason provided me with a detailed quote, describing the exact breakdown of cost and potential variables not addressed by the other two quotes (for instance, the potential need to replace some of the underlying plywood). He also provided me with an incredibly detailed description of the processes he uses. His dedication to the work and knowledge were evident, and I felt very comfortable hiring him for the work. The crew that did the work were efficient and friendly. Their cleanup was impeccable, and no stray materials were left behind. We had an independent inspection of the roof done both prior to the work and following it-- the difference is evident in photos. Our inspector was also impressed with the quality of the work. I would happily use Canadian Roofing Company again-- though hopefully I won't have to! I will also definitely recommend them to friends.

When we bought our house we were given two contradictory assessments of the roof's condition-- the previous owner claimed that the roof was new, while our first home inspector noted that it was in terrible condition. We asked Lisa of Meticulous Inspections to give another opinion so that we could make an informed decision about how to proceed. Lisa did a detailed inspection of the roof, providing us with photos of all areas and explaining in detail the roof's exact condition and the need for repairs. Her assessment was later confirmed by the roofers that we hired to do the (very necessary) work. After the work on the roof had been completed, Lisa returned to confirm that the work had addressed all of the identified issues. Again she provided us with photos, detailed information and recommendations for future maintenance. While she was there she also inspected faulty wiring in our home and provided us with valuable advice. Lisa is professional and clearly dedicated to her work. I would definitely call her again or recommend her to friends.

After moving in to our new home, we had both our junk and the previous owner's junk to get rid of. Got Junk took care of it quickly! My only concern is the pricing by weight doesn't provide a clear indication of the final cost, and it ended up being more than I had expected when I first called.

Charlie worked quickly and efficiently on our home. Due to the uneven basement floor, the baseboards don't touch the ground at all points-- an issue I wasn't aware of before the work began and wish I had known. Otherwise great work.

For some unknown reason, our downspout was routed to drain directly against our home's foundation: causing leaking in the basement. We got several reviews, but Tip Top Trough offered the most sensible solution at the most reasonable price. They were clear about the work that they were going to do, and worked hard to make the work neat. We're very happy with the service and have recommended them to friends.

We noticed black mold on a wall in our basement, but didn't really understand the scope of the problem. Not wanting to mess around, we called mold.ca to get an assessment of the situation. They came and investigated, using their equipment to detect the full spread of the moisture. This was useful when having the drywall removed, but we didn't use them for the removal or repairs as we received lower quotes elsewhere.

After a shoddy kitchen repair and water damage in our basement, we needed a new kitchen counter, drywall and insulation in our basement. Jon came highly recommended by our real estate agent, and it is a recommendation well deserved! He worked quickly, efficiently and skillfully. The basement looks great.

When my basement started leaking I didn't know who to call-- I chose RCC Waterproofing because of the company's size and reputation. A RCC employee, Tom (?) came by to give us a quote and immediately said that the issue could probably be resolved by rerouting the downspout and doing a small amount of asphalt patching. He didn't charge me for this advice, which turned out to be correct. I appreciate the great service, and would definitely use RCC again.

Soon after buying our first home, we noticed that condensation was leaking into our furnace closet every time the air conditioning was run. Climate Change Mechanical came over and quickly assessed the issue, providing both a shortterm remedy and a longterm solution. They came and installed a new filtering device, which has solved the issue entirely. We would definitey use them again.

When the snow melted and the ice thawed, I noticed that our outdoor tap had broken from the pipe during the winter. I had shut off the water source before the winter, but the valve had been leaking and caused water buildup leading to this break. Valentin responded to my message almost immediately and came by the next day. Not only did he repair the tap and fix the leaky valve that had caused the issue, he provided me with great advice to prevent this issue from reoccurring. While there he also replaced a leaking drain pipe in our kitchen for a reasonable price. He left everything very clean, and the repairs seem to be working perfectly. I would defintely call Valentin at Strong Plumbing again.

Not only was Tom ready and willing to come to our home to rekey locks on very short notice, he did so on a national holiday! He was punctual, professional, efficient and friendly, all at a reasonable price. He is clearly an expert in his trade and we would absolutely use him again and recommend him to others.
