I originally hired Robert and Air Care from a recommendation from my cousin. I had my old mid-efficiency furnace replaced by Rob with a brand new Lennox model in September 2010. There were many attempts made by Rob to get this furnace working normally and quietly which kind of annoyed me. Anyway, by June 2013, it was leaking water everywhere and making loud noises. I called Rob back and he determined that I got a "lemon" and I needed to replace the whole unit! I spent another $929 for installation because Lennox would not cover the cost of labor even though it was less than three years later. Now in September 2021, this second furnace broke down and the repair guy said that the blower motor died and the whole furnace is actually rusted out inside from water leakage, likely due to a poor installation. The repair guy recommended getting a whole new furnace instead of spending $1,200 on a new blower motor. Now I'm convinced that both furnaces Rob installed were installed poorly and it had nothing to do with buying Lennox lemons. Now I have had to go through THREE furnaces in 11 years costing me a total of $12,530 for two new furnaces plus the installation of the second one in 2013. Rob tried his best, but in the end, I got screwed and spent a fortune due to his lack of experience. And don't deal with Lennox and their pathetic one year warranty. There are furnaces out there with TWELVE year warranties!

We were extremely disappointed with the customer service provided by Jason and Enviro Paving.  Jason certainly doesn't act like the President of a company.  He was very friendly and attentive while collecting our deposit, but it was all downhill from there.  We waited exactly two months from the time we handed over a deposit to when our sidewalks were actually finished, so don't expect to have them done right away.  The first appointment we had scheduled, nobody showed up and we never even got a phone call.  After rescheduling with their head office, the second scheduled day came and went with nobody showing up and no phone call again.  I left Jason a message and told him I was upset because if I was taking days off work for this, I would have been wasting vacation time to be at home for the sidewalk paving appointments.   He finally sent over a crew who ripped out the grass in our backyard where entirely new sidewalks were going and they left the grass in a huge pile on our driveway and said they would eventually remove it.  Then the third scheduled appointment came and we didn't expect anyone to show up because it was raining.  Even so, once again, we received no phone call, not even to reschedule.  Every time I spoke with Jason, he was always driving or said he needed to be in front of his computer so he could see his schedule.  He always said he would call me back, but never did.  He never EVER replies to phone messages or texts.  When I left messages with their head office, they never returned them either.  When their head office offered to connect me with Jason every time I called them and I would tell them not to bother because he always says he needs to call me back and never does.   Then one day Jason called and said he wanted to send over his crew in the next hour or so to pack down the gravel where the new sidewalks were going.  We waited all afternoon and nobody showed up!  After rescheduling again, no one showed up once again (the fifth time) and when I called to see where they were, it turned out that the whole crew just happened to call in sick.  Then a few days later some guys showed up and packed down the gravel.  Then out of the blue, a few days after that, the whole crew showed up to install the new sidewalks and cover up the existing ones.  They finished in about six hours and had to be constantly monitored because they kept missing spots or didn't even out the mix properly, leaving lines and bumps and dents.  It is hard to get this to look perfect, but it would have been nice to have a crew who put forth their best effort or showed at least some pride in their work.  When they finished, some of them kept stepping in it and had to repair it over and over.  I can still see a foot mark on one area of the sidewalk.  I had to trim some parts along the edges of the sidewalk a couple of days later because it looked terrible.   We chose a tan color of the rubber compound, which turned out much better in color than the sample Jason originally showed us, so I was pleased.  However, the tan mix came out uneven in many areas resulting in blotches and discoloration in a few areas that look like oil stains.  They said the color would even out when it dried, but it never did.  Then they told me later that they have had problems with this color before and they don't know why some batches come out looking more grey than tan.  We had the front steps covered also and the guy who cut the pieces for the front steps did such a poor job.  He spent the whole day cutting the risers and side pieces and ended up gluing different pieces together like a mismatched puzzle.  Jason had a few members of his crew who were quite lazy and incompetent and inexperienced and seemed like they were practicing or in training.  The grass they left on our driveway sat there for TWO MONTHS so I left Jason two more messages to remove it and he never did return either call or remove the grass.  My wife and I removed the grass ourselves because we were getting a huge pile of soil delivered for our flower and garden beds and the grass was in the way.  By then, the grass was one big heavy pile of molding sludge.  Thanks Jason, for the pathetic customer service and for the way you treat your customers.  I eventually called the head office and complained and once again they offered to connect me with Jason, but I told them not to bother.   When I paid them for the work done so far, I still owed them $500, because I wanted them to come back and fix the discoloration and redo the front steps before paying the rest.  Apparently, this was a lot more than $500 of work, so Jason didn't even bother to call or come back.  They won't be able to fix everything unless they rip it all out and start over.  On top of that, the head office said they won't honor our five year warranty until I pay in full.  They offered to send someone back to fix everything, but I'm afraid they will just make it look worse than it already does.  I might call them in the future and I might not.   The product is pretty good (why they got the two stars from me) and is best on top of existing sidewalks, since new ones are a bit squishy when you walk on them which are installed on top of packed gravel.  I don't recommend redoing your front steps with this product either.  The front steps alone cost $850 and they look terrible because they paint on top of black pre-made pieces, so the color comes out different than the mix color does.  Plus, the crew member who cut and glued the pieces obviously did not know or care what he was doing.  The customer service we got from Jason I was the most disgusted with.  There are other competitors out there, so I will call upon someone else next time who knows what customer service entails.  Jason really needs to learn how to treat his customers, and lacks respect, consideration and professionalism which is why I was compelled to write this review to let everyone know that I do NOT recommend this company.  There is a reason they have an "F" rating on the Better Business Bureau website. I attached pictures of the mess they made of our front steps and the discoloration resulting from using this tan color of rubber compound.

April Glass was recommended by my tenant and they were a pleasure to deal with. Their price was much lower than other competitors, they were polite and kept me up-to-date during all stages of my window repair and they provided a receipt promptly for the deposit and final payment. It only took about two weeks from the initial call to the final repair. Everything was smooth sailing with them! I would definitely use April Glass again.

My 15 year old Acura Integra was rear ended so I took it to Doug's Place in Strathcona. I had a ground effect package on the vehicle, so one part was hard to replace, but they used the part on the other side of the rear of the vehicle at the Electroplating place across the street to make a new mould which was then simply reinstalled and painted by Doug's. They let me know about the deterioration of the styrofoam inside of the bumper and recommended I replace that for around $250 to make the vehicle safe again if I got in another accident. The rest was covered by the other driver's insurance. When I went to pick up the vehicle I was shocked to find that part of the rear bumper was hanging down by an inch on one side and I could fit my hand inside the space. I asked them why it was not fixed and they said that this was not a part of the car accident. They said that when they removed the rear bumper, part of the rusted panel broke off and they could not reattach it to the vehicle anymore because part of the panel was missing now. I told them that the car was not like that before the accident and insisted that they fix this, even if they need to weld a tin can on that spot so they could attach the bumper to it. The employee then began to tell me that my car was so old (it was about 15 years old) and that I should not even bother to get it repaired. I got mad and told him that I was not going to drive around with the rear of the car smashed in because of the negligence of another driver. It was the only car I had and the damage would affect the price if I ever sold it (I kept it for 18 years before selling it for $1800). Anyway, they eventually fixed the bumper but I had to leave the car with them longer and come back again which inconvenienced me. The whole repair was done well in the end, but unfortunately, the employee of Doug's left me with a sour taste in my mouth by telling me my car was basically a piece of junk and that I was wasting my time repairing it. Well, I won't waste my time going to Doug's Place again for any future repairs.

We were disappointed with our experience with Jade Stone installing new quartz counter tops at our rental property. While shopping for colors in their showroom, we described exactly what we had in mind and the lady showing us the products did not seem to have much product knowledge about the colors and types of counters they stock. We ended up finding something that appealed to us while the Jade Stone employee just stood there looking uninterested. Someone there named Val kept spelling our names wrong and had numerous spelling and grammar errors in the email correspondence with us which didn't impress me at all. They sent the templater to the wrong address and we sat there for 30 minutes waiting at our rental property while the templater sat at another house for 30 minutes until it was all straightened out. What a waste of time for everyone. During installation, they did a poor job of setting the two pieces in place, so the head guy insisted they break apart both pieces and start over. Luckily one or both pieces didn't get damaged while they snapped them apart. The installation was supposed to be done in about two hours, but ended up taking about SEVEN! When they finally glued together the two pieces and blended the seam together, it was visibly such a poor crappy job. Luckily the counters were a dark color and the ugly messy seam was not too visible from a distance. I wish I had a picture available to post with this review. I just can't believe what a disappointing horrible experience it was using Jade Stone. Their employees need more training and they need to learn about attention to details!

I scheduled an initial consultation with Suzanna and we met at our rental property and I described what I wanted done and the problems we have with grading issues and how our garage flooded sometimes when it rains. She gave me some good suggestions and an idea of what they might do. She asked me to email her the RPR and she would get back within two weeks with a quote and some ideas and options to consider. After more than two weeks, I emailed Suzanna and left voice mail messages and nobody got back to me. Nearly two months later still nothing. They simply disappeared! I'm not going to spend another minute chasing after a company for my business. Thanks for wasting my time.

Hello Eric,

Thanks for giving us this important criticism, we always value this and we are able to learn from it. We did not do a good job in following up with you, I am sorry. We had two major changes this year, first we moved offices, and we also had a transition in staff, and during that time we lost track of you, our customer. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will make sure this doesnt happen again. Thank you.

I hired Home Pros Group based on what I read about them online. My appointment was at 3:00 PM and the guy finally showed up at about 4:10 PM. I called the office just after 3:00 and the lady had no idea where the technician was. I called a second time and she kept going on and on about how they were unable to confirm my appointment the previous business day because my cell phone had no voicemail. This had nothing to do with why the truck was so late. The driver told me he was late because of traffic. Then I noticed he was wearing a "Don's Power Vac" t-shirt. I hired Don's back in 2009 and they sent a couple of unprofessional lazy workers to my house for duct cleaning who tried doing as little work as possible while trying to charge me as much as possible. Anyway, the technician told me that Home Pros bought out Don's Power Vac and another company. I watched him the whole time and followed him around the house while he worked. He did a very decent job by himself compared to the two guys who did the same work from Don's the last time. I tried asking the technician about the deals on their website, but he kept telling me to call the office. I spoke with the office the next day and asked about the free dryer vent coupon on their website. She told me that even though I was offered their $119 deal to get the furnace and up to 10 vents cleaned, their minimum charge was actually $150. They tacked on $30 for the dryer vent (which anyone could clean easily with a vacuum cleaner), a $15 enviro fee, and GST before taking 5% off for writing a review here. The whole pricing structure is deceiving and they had all these coupons on their website that apparently expired years ago. The actual cleaning is what got them the 5 out of 10 rating (even though the driver was super late). I will probably go with another company next time who is more upfront about their prices and who has absolutely nothing to do with Don's Power Vac.

I chose Durabuilt because they were affiliated with a wholesale company and their price looked good after comparing a few quotes. I had 13 windows in my whole house replaced over two different years. The first year I had mostly awning windows installed. I didn't like the very bulky frame around the glass and they greatly reduced the amount of light coming through compared to my old windows. The crew was quite rude too, but they did a decent and speedy job of installation. I asked one guy if he could clean the outside of my upper bathroom window while he was up there on the ladder and he replied "it's not my job". The second year, I had my bay windows replaced. The crew did a good job on the inside, but not the outside. The head subcontractor screwed up and realized that he ordered the wrong size of window for one side of my three front bay windows. He came back by himself to install the window so I was inconvenienced another full day. This guy did the worst job of cutting the casing that I ever saw in my life. There were huge visible gaps in the corners of the casing. After I insisted that he redo the casing, he tried over and over and kept saying that it was hard because the wall was angled. All three walls of the bay window were still flat walls! Furthermore, I had to get all of the outside caulking redone from this second crew because it was all goopy looking and a horrible attempt to fill huge gaps they left around the outside of the windows. They made so many extra trips to my house and I had to take more time off work because of their incompetence and poor quality sloppy installation and messy caulking. Durabuilt windows are OK, but they don't paint any of your casings and caulk perfectly like we saw from another window company that our friends used...they just do a quick sloppy job to make it good from far away and so they can move on to the next job. Up close you could see the poor workmanship from the Durabuilt window installers. Don't ever use a window company that hires subcontractors. I'm generally happy with their windows, but I wish the installation was better and cleaner. Some of the Durabuilt subcontractors took no pride in their work and they thought they were so good because they were fast. They were a joke and I let them know this when they called back for me to complete a survey about my experience with them.
