This is the second time we have hired ColourWorks. An extensive renovation, including the re-piping of all the radiators in our home, took its toll on our paint job; holes were cut into the ceilings and walls and need repair. Not to mention, our four year-old and 100lb dog use the house as a playground. ColourWorks came by for a consultation and he cut the job into two phases: repair and prep, followed by a new paint job once the renovations are complete. The patching and prep will cost about $1500. Dee runs a tight ship. He has excellent customer service and great craftsmen who work on his team, hence why so many customers return. I recommend ColourWorks unequivocally - you cant go wrong!

I hired OM contracting to water-proof and repair my front porch. The old field stone cladding was stripped away and the block structure was repaired, sealed and a new slab poured over top. The stairs were re-cast and the entire structure was parged. The guys at OM did great work, were tidy and easy to work with. You cant go wrong with these guys!

I hired Solaris Roofing to replace our ten year-old shingle roof with a new, steel roof. The process was simple enough: I met with the sales team who produced a quote and a contract - the solution I chose was at the more expensive end of the spectrum, but it made sense for my semi-detached home. Other roofers wanted to sell me product unsuitable for semis with shared roofs: the seam between both houses must be flush and impervious to rain. Installation was a snap. The guys were completely finished in two days and the crew sent me photos of their progress. The biggest difference has to be the temperature inside the home. We managed to avoid running our AC because the new roof and ventilation refract sunlight keeping the interior cool. We love the look and the warranty is for 50 years. Great product and a great company.

We bought a house where the foundation had not been properly waterproofed and so water was seeping through the basement walls into our laminate floor and drywall. We called Gregg from Mold.ca who came by and assessed our home both visually and via infrared camera & and moisture meter. The mold was detected and Gregg laid out a plan for us. One week later, the house has a clean bill of health and we are ready to rebuild. The reason I give these guys full marks: 1) the process was explained clearly and executed as discussed; 2) the workers were conscientious about keeping our home clean - they went as far as creating propper negative pressure zones in the work area to contain mess; 3) the job site was left clean every day and my house was immaculate when they left. Top it off with the fact that Gregg and his crew are nice, honest people who take pride in their work. If you need mold remediation, these guys are top-shelf.

We asked Dee to come and give us an estimate on repainting three bedrooms, the hallway and bathroom on the 2nd floor, as well as our kitchen. There were areas where the drywall had sustained damage that required mudding and two of the rooms were dark colours we wanted converted to white. The estimate was fair and quick and Dee was able to schedule us in quickly. The painting was done by Cameron and we are exceptionally pleased with the quality of his work; his attention to detail is great and our place looks spectacular. ColourWorks will be invited back to finish the house when renovations are complete.

The coupler on the circulator pump for my boiler broke resulting in a very loud buzzing sound loud enough to cause us to turn the heating off. I called Hoerner and set up an appointment - everything was easy to schedule. The gentleman who arrived was prompt and professional and was able to fix the problem. He also suggested a cleaning of the boiler as I hadn't serviced it in two years - so I agreed to the extra work as it was clearly required.

Moise is the best. He has an obvious passion for design and a commitment to excellent craftsmanship. We bought one radiator cover from him, and after thousands of compliments and great satisfaction with the product, we are having Moise come back to do more work including more radiator covers and a front hall storage solution. Moise takes his time, does his work with precision and attention to detail and the results are top-notch.

We decided to buy a ceiling fan for the master bedroom of our home. Wilcorp stocks all the major manufacturers and some research on the Internet indicated that their prices were competitive. The purchase of our new ceiling fan made by Monte Carlo was easy enough, although many of the items displayed at Wilcorp have to be ordered in - so don't expect your first choice to be stocked if you plan on leaving with a fan on your first visit. The problem arose during installation: the Monte Carlo company packaged the wrong wiring components and after several hours with the instructions, we called Wilcorp's installation guy - Peter. Peter was very nice and extremely helpful. He identified that the wrong components were sold to us, and went as far as contacting the manufacturer to figure out what we needed. He then coordinated to have the piece shipped to me overnight so I could complete the install. I had to pay Peter $85 on top of the purchase price of the fan to sort out a mistake made by the retailer or manufacturer. Ultimately, we received no apology, explanation nor reimbursement for this error and was given the impression that I could only take up my dissatisfaction with the manufacturer, but that nothing would come of it. Hence 4 on 10 for this retailer for failing to stand behind their customers when mistakes are made.

We called Clera Windows to get a quote on replacing patio doors, side door and a window in our kitchen. The salesman named Ron called me back and we set an appointment to review the scope of the work and obtain a quotation. Ron is a nice fellow, knowledgeable and reliable. He brought samples of the doors and windows so we could review their construction quality. He was able to give us an estimate on the spot and also helped us finance the cost over a year. We were so comfortable that we didn't bother tendering the job to other companies. The installation took two days and was performed by a guy named Aryan. He was fast, clean and extremely conscientious about the quality of his work. It was a pleasure dealing with FM Industries and we will be calling them back when we replace our other windows. The widows and doors are exceptionally beautiful and made in Canada.

We did a complete kitchen retrofit. We trashed the mid-90s appliances that came with the house and demolished all the cabinetry too. Our dream was to have a gas line installed but we had our work cut out for us: the kitchen is located at the back of my house - some 35 feet of gas line had to be cut through the floor joists, through a masonry wall and the subfloor in order to reach the kitchen. To make matters worse, we did not have adequate ventilation for our hood fan. Whereas these were the major issues, we also had to deal with pluming and electrical work, as the previous owners were DIYers without much skill. We called Nick and he expertly assessed our situation and got to work. He was able to work around the other trades which was very helpful, given the phased nature of renovation work. Nick knows everything about building mechanicals, be it gas lines, plumbing, circuits or chimneys. He even had specific experience installing the appliances we bought. What really sets him apart is the pride he takes in his work and it most definitely shows in the final product. I enjoyed having Nick around for the course of a few weeks as he is a nice guy, a family man and an excellent contractor.

Dimitri, owner of Tilestars, was extremely professional and a pleasure to deal with. He was able to accommodate our schedule and was very prompt at all appointments. He even allowed us to make a last-minute re-schedule when we were delayed by other trades. In terms of his work, he laid our subway tile backsplash over uneven drywall, but you would never know the difference; after 12 years in the business, Dimitri is truly a master of his trade. The whole job was quick, clean and reasonably priced. Use Tilestars and you won't regret it.

We demolished our kitchen and required a bin to dispose of old cabinetry and appliances. I estimated that I needed a mid-sized bin to accommodate the load. When I called Roadrunner, they had rented all of the bins in the size I needed, but allowed me to take the next size up for the same price. Delivery was on-time and they took extra care not to damage my driveway or walkway. I was too busy to disconnect the refrigerator freon coil, so Roadrunner offered to take it to a site that would remove the coil for me. Pickup was likewise prompt and the owner is a real nice guy. I highly recommend Roadrunner.
