BEWARE! Fake promises. Extremely poor services. False representations.

WARNING!!! STAY AWAY!!! We hired Fouad Alhajj of Al Hajj Construction for demolition, tile installation, hardwood installation, redo Stairs, and complete house painting. The time frame provided was 3 weeks initially, with an extra 4th week added to the agreement for additional work added (ie: fireplace wall).

They took 7 weeks and were not even half completed. Fouad and his guys damaged window and caused water damage on the main floor and basement ceiling during the demolition process. They did not cover any of the appliances or the personal belongings and everything was covered in dust. They ruined the new appliances, electrical fittings and furniture.

{ Hardwood: } They destroyed $12000 worth of hardwood material. They installed the hardwood improperly in a slanted and cross manner. They had to remove and reinstall causing damage to the hardwood. They used the wrong glue and instead of gunning the glue, they applied it as if mudding the floors. They permanently damaged the underlying floors, now needing complete replacement. Even after reinstalling the floors, they left a lot of glue residue everywhere on the hardwood floors. They failed to level the floors before reinstallation causing bumps and domes in the flooring. They cut the door frames very high and left a lot of spacing in the hardwood flooring everywhere in the house. They did not use glue and used limited nails causing floor movements. Poor baseboard cuts and install.

{ Tile Install: } They did not level the tiling to the same height of the hardwood floor. The cuts are not clean and the tiling work is not leveled properly. They dented the tile on the upstairs washroom while installing the hardwood. All the tile material provided worth $1500 was wasted.

{ Stairs: } Very bad improper cuts for the stair nosing. They destroyed the stair treads by grilling it deep instead of sanding. $2000 worth of material was never provided. The entire stairs will need to be redone.

{ Painting: } Very inefficient work patterns. Damaged the doors after painting. Very poor finishing wherever they claimed the painting to be complete. You could clearly see different material used on the same wall, some areas were flat and others were eggshell finish. Shades of paint appearing everywhere you see. Extremely disappointing.

{ Fireplace Wall: } Incorrectly installed the framing of the fireplace. It was not symmetrical. The shelf framing was crooked. When asked, their standard reply was the walls are not straight. The hole cut out for the fireplace was smaller than the size of the fireplace. Wiring done by their electician caused the power outlets in the room to stop functioning.

{ Overall: } Extremely poor management of the tasks. They jumped around everywhere. Starting something and then jumping on to the next one, while destroying the task that they did earlier.

They knew that we were camping in the basement with our young kids. After passing the 3 weeks of the timeline provided, every time they promised the next week to get the project completed. Half the time, Foaud never showed up. We kept making phone calls, text messages but they were seldom answered or replied to. We were mentally tortured and suffered depression while waiting for them to complete their work on time and provide quality as per their commitment.

Please do yourself a favour and STAY AWAY!!!
