Oven Service
I too wish i had researched this company better
The technician showed up in the time window provided but that was the end of the good news.
He told me it was $275 to "service" the 22 year old Wolf 30" gas stove.
Parts would be on top- I said fine.
My problem was that one of the four burners would not ignite and that the oven sometimes made a noise when heating up.
He proceeded to pull out the stove and take a look at the burners and electronics. I noticed he was constantly looking at his phone watching tutorials on my appliance- which worried me a bit
Upon removing the covers etc and moving round a few wires he told me that he knew what the problem was and would figure out the price.
He then told me the price for the repair was $3293.95!!!(taxes in)
i said no way - what was that for . He said for 4 new burners, and a bake ignitor.
When i said no he said i really only needed two new burners and if i chose that route the price would drop to $2363 including taxes.
I wanted to get the thing fixed and out of mind and said ok - signed the paperwork and gave a deposit of $1,336.51 (stupid me)
When he left and i did a little more investigation and realized that replacing the burners when i had an electrical problem was a misdiagnosis or over diagnosis at best.
He left my house at 7:30 pm
i decided to cancel at that time and phoned at 8:30 the next mornng to do so.
They said no problem and that accounting would get back to me on the refund.
Accounting called just after lunch and i called back and talked to a woman there.
She first tried to convince me to not cancel and then when i insisted she calculated my refund and told me that i would be getting approximately $575 dollars back (of my $1336!!) I asked why.
She said my contract notes that for parts ordered there is a 15%
restocking fee and a $30 delivery fee.
I said surely the parts were not ordered and in transit within the period between 730 Pm and 830 Am the next morning. She said they were.
I then noted that regardless of that her math was wrong. She then noted she was charging me 25% restocking fee. I said WHAT? She said that her supplier for this specific manufacturer charges 25% - Sorry.
i said i have a contract where it says in black and white 15%. She said too bad - its 25%. We argued and I said I would pay the 15%. I at this point just wanted to end the nightmare and take my lumps.
She said she would see what she could do. Came back on the line and offered 20% restock fee. I said no. She said thats it- if i didnt want the refund she would put a note on the file and when i was ready i could call back and make arrangements to get the money back.
I finally said just send me the money. Supposed to be in cheque form sent out in 2-3 weeks. We will see.
LESSON LEARNED
Remember they don't take credit cards - so you cannot challenge the charge even if you cancel
i am going to ask for a copy of a work order or purchase order - date stamped to prove they did order - but i really doubt that will result in anything.
DO NOT CONTACT THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE DISHONEST AT ALL LEVELS
