New Home

We moved in to our new Daytona home in April 2021 & it has been the worst experience. Just to name a few, we had upgraded to triple pane windows & double pane were installed, If we didnt catch it nothing would have been done, they brushed it off like it was no big deal, & scratched our windows during the swap. Our garage door was back ordered, & when it arrived they installed it on our neighbours who took possession 2.5 months after us, when we questioned it we were told they were different specs which was not the case as it is the exact same model of home, so we waited 5 months for our door to be installed. We were told our driveway would be poured in June, after multiple ignored emails it wasnt completed until September, we upgraded to a trench for drainage and they forgot to install it and ended up cutting a messy hole in the new concrete & the low end weeping tile underneath the walk way was all crushed, we had to pay our landscaper to reinstall it with a heavy duty weeping tile to ensure we did not have any back flow. Daytona refused to do anything about it, besides touch up the jagged hole with some silicone, the construction mgr inspected it and says it looked good. Shortly after the driveway was finally poured it started flaking & we had to wait until summer 2022 for them to come up with a plan as it was obviously a bad mix/poured too late in the season. They decided in sept 2022 for a cheap fix they were going to apply a coating over top of the existing concrete, then realized (after months of waiting) it was too far gone & advised that wed have to wait until the following year to have it replaced. We were told we would be priority and promised mid June, no one showed up or informed us of any delays, everyone else that had driveway issues and moved in months after us had theirs redone before. Ours was ripped up July 4th, front steps and railing were removed & thrown into the rocks, & then left that way for 2 months which made it challenging climbing into the front entrance or walking between rebar, we were left with no updates whatsoever. When the railing was re-installed, it was crooked with missing bolts. Garbage & coffee cups were left from the workers & the sand was poured right over top and rebar was installed. We then waited another month for the concrete to finally be poured in August, luckily I happened to be home that day, otherwise they would have forgotten the trench a second time, but I was able to notice just in time. Our new landscaping was ripped up July 3rd & took until September 14th to be repaired (I had to keep following up as we received no updates at all). Prior to the driveway repair we were reassured twice that, if necessary, they would call our landscaper back to do the repairs. After 2.5 months of having our yard ripped apart & waiting for an answer, they said they were shopping around for landscaping quotes and decided to use their own landscaper, again to save on costs. It was now October & we had yet for our landscaping to be completed.Turns out, the concrete was poured differently & did not line up with our landscaping, so they planned to patch it with a piece of artificial turf rather than replacing it as it wouldnt match especially after a year of sun exposure etc, the bricks are uneven & the ground wasnt levelled prior to re-installing. We were told they would be back in the spring (2024) to repair along with the parging that was damaged during the driveway removal, I sent a reminder email to warranty in April & had to send multiple emails as no one got back to me, & was given an update on July 17th that the contractors would be out in approx 3 weeks, it is now October 2024 and still no updates whatsoever. We had multiple issues throughout the home building process and after taking possession, our concerns were escalated to the GM who passed the work back to the salesperson and warranty mgr, we also spoke with higher up regarding our terrible experience & he never did follow up just apologized & said they would make it right, which they never did and the construction mgr was extremely rude & condescending. I can honestly say, from the lack of professionalism of the staff, to the communication & overall experience from Start to finish I would 100% NOT recommend this builder to anyone, it takes months on end for an email reply & you constantly have to follow up. Once they have your money they dont care.

DELIGHTED

We bought a home built from Daytona, Second hand, built 5 years before... Not only the house is perfectly built... but when we need anything, their service is responsive, fast and efficient...
It is not a coincidence if my brother bought another home from them and it is equally a very well done from basement to the ceiling...

Relentless Issues, Building Errors, and Absence of any Professionalism

As the biggest purchase of your life, take this as a massive WARNING to avoid this company.

First, they completed building my house only to find out months later that they claimed to have built it on the wrong property line (portion of my property went onto next property over). This was never proven to be the case by an outside property line company, and no one confirmed the logistics of it, but Daytona sent their workers to my house who began working on my property. Problem is... no one ever discussed any of this with me. I just saw random workers cutting my property without my knowledge of the situation or consent. Without making this too long, this led to months of back and forth where my concerns were not addressed, and emails not responded to.

This leads to a second issue, no one responds to important emails part of the time. And I am not referring to emails with basic questions or inquiries (which should be responded to regardless) but emails about something breaking under their warranty and needing repair. Complete radio silence. It has been extremely frustrating to send several emails over weeks with voicemails to (maybe, but not EVEN always) finally hear a response.

One of the last issues I will mention (but there is sadly plenty more than these) is structurally. My entire central heating system broke right before the one-year mark. Thankfully since it was right before the end of the first year, the repair/replacement (which was thousands of dollars) was covered. But the fact that a major piece like that, which should last atleast 10-15 years, broke less than one year in(from what I was told possible improper installation) is very concerning.

I would strongly urge prospective homeowners to avoid Daytona at all costs. They will drain your time, finances, and any sort of peace of mind you hoped to have buying and being a new homeowner.

Worst builder, I will never go back to them

I wish there an option to give a negative rating. This is the poor quality of work. No one is there to hear your complaints, none of the staff what's going with the other team. You call them for anything and the answer is "I don't know, I have to check with them". I am waiting to get my garage for the last 8 months and still, they are building and doesn't have any clue yet when it will be fully done so that I can start using it, there are plenty of items/issues and they are still fixing even after 8 months and still lot many are pending. I will never ever go back to this builder in the future.

Secord Way - Brighton, Saskatoon

Buying your first home and making one of your biggest purchases can be an intimidating process. We visited Lynn and Shannon at the home in Brighton after being referred to Daytona by another young couple that was very pleased with their home. Lynn made the entire purchase process extremely easy for us, and we are very happy with our new home. The entire team at Daytona has gone above and beyond for us—and continues to do so. With any new home there will be little things that need to be addressed, and Daytona is always responsive and thorough in making sure that the fix is completed in a timely manner. We would certainly recommend Daytona to any of our family members and close friends and will definitely be purchasing another home by Daytona down the road.

FOUND MY FOREVER HOME in BRIGHTON/Saskatoon

Note: This is in Saskatoon, not Edmonton

FOUND MY FOREVER HOME in BRIGHTON/Saskatoon

Please read my experience with Dayton Homes if you are considering a home in the Brighton area of Saskatoon.

Normally I do not do reviews, however, a friend who stayed at my house last week is considering a career move to Saskatoon and found a review regarding Daytona homes and asked me if I had the same experience (she loves my house). I read the review and my experience with Daytona Homes is 100% opposite, therefore I thought I should share my experience with Daytona. My home is located on Secord Way.

I moved to Saskatoon 4 years ago and planned on renting for 1 year until I could find my dream home and neighbourhood. Instead I rented for another 3 years because I could not find a home within my budget or a neighbourhood where I felt I wanted to live. I refused to settle (I hate moving and want a forever home).

In June that changed. By chance we drove through Brighton. I liked what I saw and it peaked my interest enough to research floor plans, pricing, and reviews of all the builders in Brighton’s parade of homes.

I contacted Daytona Homes, set up an appointment with Lynn. At my appointment, Lynn asked me what is on my must have, deal breakers, price range, location, and style of home list. Lynn narrowed the search to three styles I loved. She took me to the one that best matched my dream home first. The moment I walked through the door, I knew this would be my forever home. The colours, location, style and quality material in are perfect.

Lynn took us to view the other show homes on the list but I knew I wanted the first house she showed me. We discussed prices, and I was stunned to learn the garage is included as well as the landscaping in the front yard. In 4 years of searching for a home I found a brand NEW home for LESS money!! I lived in Rosewood for the last few years and a large number of homes have knee high weeds as their front lawn. Horrible curb appeal.

In my particular package, I get a tree and three shrubs, which I was able to pick for myself. The neighbourhood has great curb appeal and feels like an established neighbourhood (but with all new homes). I’ve been in the Brighton office when prospective home owners are told the garage and front landscaping are included in the price and they react as I did. Or owners who come to express their appreciation to the Daytona staff.

I was able to customize and upgrade the size of my garage and add electrical outlets in the basement, which already came insulated, lined and had a few outlets. The house already had the upgrades I wanted.

Daytona staff worked extremely hard to give me what I wanted.

I viewed the house on Saturday, June 10 and moved in July 7!!  In that month I needed to get bank approval. Since I did not have a mortgage broker, Lynn provided me with a list of mortgage brokers. I picked Sarah from the list. I connected with a fantastic broker, loan representative, and lawyer in under 3 weeks.  The team made the entire process easy for me.

Response time from Lynn, Shannon or Kale is exceptional. I have contacted each one of them while they were at work, after work hours, and while they are on their vacation (sorry Lynn and Kale), Lynn and Shannon have rescheduled personal plans to wait for me at the office after their office hours. Who does that? People who care do.

One week before possession date, Kale provides an in depth orientation of the house, its features, including how and when to perform regular maintenance. We also do a final inspection from top to bottom, inside and out, and any concern will be addressed before possession date. For example, one of the wire shelves in a closet had a small scuff in it, and he replaced the shelf. I told him he was far too picky.

Basically he said he does not feel he is too picky as he wants his homeowners to be happy with their purchase and customer service is extremely important.

I had my visit with the warranty specialist last week. There was one concern about the hot and cold taps being mixed up. Yhe next business day, I received a call to schedule an appointment to fix it. The warrenty spevialist also went over what Kale told me regarding care and maintenance.

This is my first new home, however, I have many years of experience on DYI projects on old homes. I know the difference between a short and long term fix and the cost/quality of materials.

I am 100% confident in Daytona’s workmanship and appreciate the outstanding customer service. So confident I referred my son and his girlfriend to Daytona. They are building their dream home with Daytona this fall.

WORST HOME BUYER EXPERIENCE AFTER THEY GET YOUR $$$$

READ BEFORE YOU BUY A HOME FROM DAYTONA HOMES

My Dayton Home experience in Brighton Saskatoon, Secord Way.

Probably the worst experience a first time home buyer could go through. The buying process is very smooth and they ensure everything concern and need and request will be met and exceeded.

Let me tell you as soon as they get your $$$, its a very different story. Nothing is on time, projects have been redone multiple times and trades don't show up to do the warranty work. Let me break this down.....

Garage = Negotiated into the purchase price, purchased and took possession of my home on November 17 of 2016. They told me in front of my parents , who will attest to this ...that this will be completed in the spring. Spring comes along and Daytona Homes says they will do it at their convenience once more garages are to be built on the block ( June- July ). Its August 7th and my garage is still four walls and shingles. The pad was almost poured twice to the wrong dimensions where I had to stop them or it would have been too late. ( 20' x 22' not too complicated) I have seen Dream put up a neighbours garage within a month. Daytona looks like they have hired two dudes one truck to build their garages when they please.

Plumbing = If you stopwatch how long it takes to get hot water up to the master bedroom its above 1 minute 40 seconds running wide open max hot. When I addressed this with the warranty manager he said " You get what you pay for" ( $350,000 ). I thought everyone was trying to be more efficient nowadays but they wont sacrifice efficiency for profit. Everything is for them to make an extra buck. Cheapest plumbing possible and the company that put it in is impossible to get ahold of. ( Bigger fish to fry , they don't care )

Landscaping = Requested no front landscaping as I will be putting in my own artificial lawn and landscaping. Come home from work to find two dumps of top soil and trees being placed on my front yard.

Windows = They assured me that triple pane was not needed in new homes that their All Weather Windows were top notch. Well my windows froze all winter and wrecked the trim work around the windows. I was at 20% humidity and they had no HRV system in the house either. The site superintendent said their fan system was strong enough. If you blew out a candle it could barely suck in the smoke. Its only two of us living here and our showers are not longer than 3-4 minutes.

Bottom Line = I could sit here and write a novel on about 10 more things and I am not the only one getting the crap end of the stick. They have 100 homes to build and you better believe they are in it for the money.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY ... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND A DAYTONA HOME TO ANYONE.... EVER

MSG ME BEFORE YOU BUY

New Home

What a wonderful company to buy a home from, I cannot say enough positive things about Daytona Homes Master Builder! This is our third home we have purchased with Daytona Homes and the experience was absolutely amazing every time!! From the knowledgeable Sales Consultants, who offered a verity of genius floor plans and modern colour boards to choose from, to the Site Superintendent, who completed a new home owner orientation which included inspecting every aspect of our home together, to verify that I was pleased and understood how everything worked, e.g. central vac, air exchange system, ensuite tub, and so on.
Our journey with Daytona Homes has been an outstanding one each and every time!!! I would recommend this home builder to anyone who is looking for a beautiful, well-built home, who provides impeccable costumer service from beginning to end!!
Thank you Daytona Homes!!
