We'd give a standing ovation to Level Up if we could!

We cannot say enough positive things about Level Up Renovations!!! We have undergone several renovations in the past (with different companies/contractors) and have never had such a seamless, pleasant and stress-free experience from start to finish! My husband and I rarely write reviews but as home owners we know how hard it is to find the right people for any type of contracting work so we felt compelled to share our positive experience.

From our first consultation meeting with Michael (the owner), we felt we could trust him. He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional and we could tell fairly quickly that doing this job was his passion. This all held true for the entire reno process! We needed to make our unfinished basement into a living space for my mom (one bedroom, a 4-piece bathroom, a kitchen and convert our crawl space into a finished storage area). Michael gave us tips, advice and suggestions that were clever and innovative and even advised us on how to save a significant amount of money on a specific portions of the reno by going through a third party (he stood to make a lot of money by withholding that information). That's when we knew he truly enjoyed his work and wasn't in it for the money (which was definitely a big selling point for us). We met with several companies around the same time to get quotes for this reno and ALL of them rushed through it within 30 mins or less and simply gave us a total cost. Michael took his time - in fact, he spoke with us for 2 hrs at that first FREE consultation. He sat down with us and on his computer showed us a very detailed breakdown of the cost of our project that he could adjust in real-time based on our needs. For example, if we wanted 30 potlights instead of 20, he simply changed the quantity on the computer and it produced a new cost based on a predetermined algorithm. Additionally, since we wanted to install some finishings we had already previously purchased (I.e. shower fixtures, toilet, doors, handles, etc), Michael was more than happy to credit us his cost price for those specific items. Cost wise, Level Up definitely wasn't the cheapest but also wasn't the most expensive. Everything was reasonably priced - by the end of the project, we felt that the price was justified based on the excellent quality of the work, the rare stress-free reno experience and the efficiency of the company in dealing with any small or large issues that inevitably always occur with any major reno such as this one. Michael always went out of his way to make us happy, no matter how strange our requests were or how it inconvenienced him.

Once we signed with Level Up, we met with their lovely designer, Ashley and picked out finishings in a showroom. It was a completely seamless process! She even sent us 3D renderings of what our space would look like with the finishes we selected. Very professional!

The project started the first week of January 2023. We were always given the schedule a week or so in advance so we could keep track of what work was to be completed that week; they were quite punctual too! And garbage was taken out regularly as needed. Avtar was assigned as our supervisor for the project (although Michael was still heavily involved throughout). Avtar was quick and efficient anytime we had questions or concerns. In one particular incident, we noticed some water on the bathroom floor once the plumbing had finished and told Avtar we were concerned that there might a leak - within an hour (on a Sunday), their plumber was back to check it out! THAT is how efficient this company is! (Of course there was no leak because this company only hires the best of the best tradespeople - it ended up being some water that had splashed down when they were testing for leaks). EVERY SINGLE tradesperson that worked on our project was extremely polite, friendly, knowledgeable, had incredible craftsmanship, and was beyond patient with us when we were being indescisive!!!! I can't emphasize enough how important this was in making this reno as stress-free as possible! We also noticed how clean everyone was! Everything was covered at the start of the project (stairs, hallway, carpets, entryways, etc) and everything was tidied up at the end of each day. Our main floor powder room was used respectfully (we've had many tradespeople in the past who have used our bathrooms in our home as if they're public toilets). Additionally, everyone was very accommodating to us because we have a preschool aged daughter and were living at home throughout the renos (i.e. loud equipment was not used after her bedtime, etc). We were very impressed with who Michael had selected to work at Level Up! Each employee truly reflects the values of Level Up.

The project wrapped up the last week of February 2023, being only 1 week delayed (also quite impressive!) from when Michael had originally given us a quote and estimated timeline. The delay was due to a kitchen cabinet installation error (we want to clarify that this was caused by some miscommunication in the location of the cabinets and NOT due to poor craftsmanship) for which Michael immediately took full responsibility and resolved the issue with lightening speed while simultaneously never compromising on the quality of workmanship!!!

The only part we were unhappy with was the cleaning crew who were supposed to do a deep clean at the end of the project. We noticed they missed several large areas and seemed to have used only water to wipe down the toilets used by the tradespeople so we could still see pee stains. I'm pretty OCD when it comes to cleanliness though so I figured I'd just clean it myself. To Michael/Avtar's credit, when I mentioned my disappointment to them, they profusely apologized and offered to have the cleaners come back the next day but I had already cleaned everything myself by then as my mom's movers were already scheduled to come a day later so timing was tight. To be fair though, we thought the cleaning crew was just a bonus anyways as we had recently done another bathroom reno in the summer of 2022 and we had to hire our own cleaning crew at the end of that project (it was not included in the price of the project).

Overall, although we had hiccups in this project as one would expect with any major reno, it was the professionalism and timeliness in which the issues were taken care of that really sets this company apart!!! This is hands-down the company you'll want to trust with your reno needs!!!
