Beach Builds contracted to install a patio in late July 2021, asking for a refundable 25% deposit of $665 that I paid. He reneged on the job on August 15, 6 days before he was due to start.
The contractor only refunded $350, claiming $315 as a "restocking fee" to return stones, although when we agreed to the contract, he said he already had all the stones I would need at his yard. I'm trying to get the money and costs back through Toronto Small Claims Court.
NOW, in mid-September, he finally reimbursed me the $315. I'm now out a mere $102 for a small claims court filing cost.
