Never again will I deal with this group. Short and to the point, in our opinion, they tried to gouge us when we asked how much it would cost to buy out our higher-end rental unit, which we had for 16 years. We kept it as a rental as it was hassle free. I offered them a nominal price, but they refused. The owners said we could keep it for $1500 or half the original cost, which is what they would charge someone for a refurbished unit. Interesting that they never said they would refurbish it for us at that cost so apparently, we would have had to pay that price 'as is'.
I pointed out that we had already paid twice the cost new in rental fees. They then said they would give us a break and we could have it for $750. It is an old unit and I pointed out I could buy a new one for less. It was a ridiculous and outrageous offer. I told them to come pick it up. They sent someone to uninstall it. However, without letting me know, they also arranged for a Junk company to come and pick it up from our house. I opened the door to 3 strangers with a junk trunk telling me they were picking it up and so had to come into our house. Note, they were polite and completely understood my surprise at seeing them, so no problem with them.
The bottom line is that Ecowater Kitchener tried to sell us an old not-so-well functioning unit at a high price, after having been a problem-free customer for 16 years, and then ended up sending it to a Junk place to be recycled, when we said no.
Very unprofessional, in my opinion. I have been in business for years and it is not hard to recognize terrible customer service when you see it.
