Manufacturer's Warranty Repair
Nov 26, 2022
I have been a Maytag washer / dryer user for 40 years.
I am including ALL 3 of the businesses involved in this review, and posting to each ones review site. I have copies of correspondence of the trail of events, as proof to what I saying here.
The Maytag washer was purchased & delivered in October 2021. On March 2, 2022 the machine quit working.
Technician from Mikes Appliance Service attended residence of original purchaser, spent the entire time on his phone with their employer. Determined needed parts.
Original purchaser sold house, replaced broken washer with new washer, per the terms of the house sale agreement. Transferred ownership of non-working washer to us, and transferred extended warranty.
I contacted Mikes Appliance Service on May 26, 2022 & left a message to return my call regarding the outstanding Manufacturers Warranty service call. Called & left message to return my call again on May 27th & May 28th. Finally received return call on June 5, 2022, advising the Technician would be at our residence the next day. Technician arrived on June 6, 2022 @ 12:54 pm, replaced pump & one controller. Still wouldnt work. Technician advised he would order the other controller and come back. It shouldnt take near as long to get the part this time. Left at 1:20 pm. I sent email after email as follow up, and just kept getting the run-around, with no definitive answer.
Nov 8, 2022 10:35 am, I started an on-line chat with Whirlpool, who rebooked a new appointment with Mikes Appliance Service. Nov 9, 2022 I received an email from Mikes Appliance that they had received a new workorder from Whirlpool, and that a Technician was rescheduled for Monday, Nov 14, 2022. No phone call received & a no-show of the Technician on Nov 14, 2022.
Followed up with Whirlpool via on-line chat on Nov 15, 2022. Who attempted to contact Mikes via phone, but couldnt get an answer, and unable to leave voicemail message.
After constant email trail back & forth with Mikes Appliance, I called their service line & finally got to speak to a person, who advised the call was waiting on a part (I was never advised of this during email trail. I advised him I expected a phone call from the owner of Mikes Appliance that same day. Never received any response.
Followed up with Whirlpool via on-line chat again on Nov 17, 2022. No resolution.
Nov 21, 2022 1:00 pm I called Whirlpools service number from their website, and spoke with a Dispatcher. I explained the history & my disappointment & frustration. He was very professional & apologized for my frustration. He advised, according to their records, there were no parts on order for the washer. He would create a new service workorder. I stated DO NOT ASSIGN IT TO MIKES APPLIANCE, as they have not told the truth about everything and incompetent to resolve the issue. He assured me it would be assigned to another Service provider. The new workorder would be created for the work to be done on Thursday, Nov 24, 2022 between 8:00 am 4:00 pm. I received an email confirmation, with the new workorder job # from the Dispatcher.
Thursday, Nov 24, 2022 @ 7:58 am, I received a phone call from Chris of Appliance Pro, who advised he would be arriving between 12:00 noon 2:00 pm, but would likely be closer to noon. Chris arrived @ 12:00 noon, did diagnostics, did repair, ran a test cycle, and departed @ 12:37 pm. Chris possesses a strong professional work ethic. I received a confirmation email of completed service, noting the issue as connected wire connector to board, ran all tests, all passed. No further issues found, all test OK.
The Technician from Mikes Appliance missed connecting the wire to the board on June 6th, when he did the board replacement.
I am a strong believer in supporting all businesses. However, that loyalty must be earned by being ethical, trustworthy, competent, professional & honest. Also very important is to conduct follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction, no matter how large or small the business is.
