3+ months, 5+ visits, 0 fixed dishwashers - only threats and excuses
We've had quite a negative experience with Mike's Appliance Service, and are 3+ months into a situation that seems unlikely to be over soon.
We reported a 4-month old dishwasher that was not working to GE; they dispatched Mike's Appliance Service. We had our first interaction on February 5, 2024.
Mike's team was friendly, but unable to actually do anything to fix the dishwasher - and unwilling to stay long enough to actually see a full load through.
It was also a challenge to actually get someone from Mike's team to come to the house, with so many different excuses (illnesses, broken vehicles, etc.) that we began to question the veracity of what we were being told.
By mid-April - 10+ weeks after first contact, and after 5 separate visits - we were told the dishwasher couldn't be fixed and that we should contact GE.
After several weeks of going back and forth with GE, we've been told that the reports they have on file suggest there's nothing wrong with the dishwasher, everything seems to be working fine (?!), they can't determine if the dishwasher is unrepairable (... despite being unable to repair it??) and recommending we get a second opinion.
I've attempted to get on a call to discuss this with Mike's Appliance Service, but "their phone system is under maintenance" - par for the course, I'm afraid.
As an entrepreneur myself, I love supporting small business, but it's just so disappointing to get this level of service. It should not take 4 months and 6+ visits to determine if a dishwasher can be repaired or not.
After posting this review on a different website, someone from Mike's team responded with the following:
"Your misuse of the machine caused the pump to get clogged. The machine was not designed to be used the way you were using it. Misuse of the product can void your warranty. We did you a favour by replacing the pump you broke and not charging you. I could forward the pictures to the manufacturer to show the misuse if you would like. It is not a commercial machine."
I have no idea what Mike's response is referring to, as the dishwasher was only used to (attempt to) wash my family's dishes. Of course it's not a commercial machine - it's in a residential family home. If the pump broke, it's further proof the dishwasher is faulty and needs to be replaced.
The threat of retribution to a customer posting a negative review should be deeply concerning to anyone considering using this company, but unfortunately seems to be indicative of the way they choose to do business.
