Enhance Wood Solutions

We contracted to have our kitchen cabinets refinished. These are solid oak cabinets. They were in great shape but we were tired of the color and wanted something more modern. This seemed like an inexpensive alternative to replacing them. This company spent almost three weeks off and on at our home versus 2-4 days most companies take. As a result, the smell made us ill. They do not have a shop, do not like to take the doors off and would not have if I didn't do it for them. They simply scuffed the old finish and stained over it. Most of the old finish was never removed and neither ewas any of the old grease. In many places they sanded against the grain of the wood and it is very noticeable.They did not mix the stain correctly using two different stains. They just used a plastic container and a spoon. The result being we have three distinctly different colors. As far as the backs of the doors went they simply put stain over old finish and when adding the top finish coat missed most spots and most of the door backs. They created a mess. I had three companies look at it and they tell me it cannot be fixed. We now need to do them over again in a solid color which we never wanted. As above, the cabinets are solid oak and we wanted to see the nice grain.
Enhance says they have a ten year warranty which is stamped on their invoice but do not believe it as once they have your money you will never see them again. They strung me along for five months with one excuse after another finally refusing to fix anything. Then when I wanted to sue them I found out they just use a renal mailbox so it is hard to locate them.
My advice for anyone reading this, research how refinishing is done properly. There are some great companies on this site, call them for quotes and do not make the mistake we did. I complained to the Better Business Bureau (#1283700 which you can access on the BBB site) but that doesn't seem to matter to these people. Do not hire this company or it's owner. I doubt the name he uses is his real name as he is not on any sites we could find (Facebook, Linked In, Homestars, etc. Always remember a warranty is only as good as the business that offers it. This company has a worthless ten year warranty they will never honour.
