Same Day Appliance Service

Fridge Ice maker broke down. Sensor replaced same problem 45 days later. 30 day warranty expired. Why would anyone go to these guys? Because you don't know who is competent and who you can trust. Know this, it's not these guys you should call.

My fridge had a cooling gas (benzopentane) leak and just stopped producing enough cold. I got one repairman diagnose the problem but he told that his company don't do this type of repairs.
After some search online I called Same Day Appliance Service Oshawa branch. Described the problem to the csr and he assured that they can perform this repair. I specifically asked if the technician they are sending is capble to do the repairs right away and on-site. Was told yes.
Company charges 75$+tax for the service call but the amount is supposed to be deducted from the quoted repair cost.
When the technician arrived it turned out that
1) He doesn't deal with freon leaks
2) He is from a different company (Care Appliance Service LTD.). Pretty sure Same Day appliance service is just a call centre that collects orders and subcontracts all the work.
3) He didn't even have to look at the fridge to confirm what I already told the CSR on the phone.

Sure enough he charged 75$ for the service call. Quoted 350$+tax for the benzopentane refill and left. He was supposed to arrange the other technician to come back and perform the work.

A day later, no calls. After I called the company myself, I was told that The technician they use for freon leaks is based in Hamilton and doesn't service Durham at all. I was told to "get a quote from another company". So how about the 75$ that was supposed to be deducted from the quoted repair cost? The written quote was provided right on their invoice! They wouldn't refund it. The owner was very conveniently not on site when I called and sure enough no one called back.

As a result we have a 75$ paid for a service call that had no use at all as I had the problem already diagnosed before. 3 more day without a fridge (had to buy a new one as we couldn't afford to wait any longer) and a bunch of food gone bad.

"Great" service! Stay away from this company.

My dryer broke Saturday night - no heat and didn't realize until early Sunday morning when clothes were still wet (and cold). They offer 24/7 repair service. And they showed up Sunday afternoon, the service call/diagnostics was FREE if I chose to have them do the repair. One guy couldn't figure it our after 2 hours so he called another service guy and he showed up and eventually fixed the problem. I have a 30 year old Eaton Viking dryer and this was the first time ever something had happened - its an amazing machine and no way did I want to give it up. They fixed it after another 2 hours. Replaced what was necessary and dryer works like a charm again. $250 total for the repairs, parts, labour. Professional, FAST and they were right on top of this. My 30 year of Viking washer still works amazing and not once has required any servicing BUT if it does, I'm calling this company. So happy with the service.

I have a two door Whirlpool refrigerator- Left side is the freezer and right side is the fridge. My refrigerator was not cooling although my freezer was working fine. Gave a call to Same Day Appliance Service and the lady I spoke to was extremely courteous and friendly. She was willing to give me an appointment for some one to show up within an hour but I asked her to book an appointment for evening which she was able to. Ray came and saw the refrigerator and told me it could either be a connection loose which he showed me while checking or the board has conked off. And that was the reason why my freezer did not auto defrost and hence my refrigerator was not getting any air to cool. He asked me to disconnect the plug and leave the door open to defrost for 24hrs and re hook it. It should work... And if there is some other problem like circuit board then within 2-3 weeks I will experience the same issue and that time I will have to buy a new one as the part is not being made by Whirlpool any more. Would highly recommend Same Day Appliance Service.I was extremely satisfied with his honesty, technical knowledge, patience in showing me the issue as well as the solution and his time management.
