So I was recommended to Jim by a friend to renovate my 500 sqft basement. He is a fly by night cash only handyman and folks need to be cautious about these type of operators. They work for cash and demand payment. This guy was the most arrogant person to deal with. He quoted 7000$ for only labour to replace existing drywall and carpet, all material costs were separate. It took him 7 weeks to perform the job. In the middle on the work he would go perform other jobs to make extra bucks. A few days into the assignment he says I needed to hire an electrician as he didn't want to take on electrical work so another $2000 was added to my cost in the middle of the job. He installed a non compliant foil dryer duct and closed the ceiling which later disintegrated, I was lucky that no fire occurred because of this. I had to hire another duct specialist to break the ceiling and change to smooth metal duct. There is a lot of information online about the dangers of this.
There were several mistakes in his performance which he tries to cover up and says it was an existing problem. Be careful of Jims Construction Services, hire a licensed contractor
