The original house was built in 1942 and had a couple of past renovations. The reason for the project was that the house was very cold in the winter, especially on the north facing wall. The insulation was the most important factor although we were happy to replace the vinyl siding with James Hardie Plank board and trim. As expected there were a few surprises. Underneath the vinyl was asbestos siding! And some key support beams around the house were rotted. Also as the house was quite old plywood sheets were not used and the house was covered in individual wood boards - which tripled the work of removing the exterior wall in order to spray foam the wall cavities.

We had met Robert at PCL a year ago and took our time getting other quotes and different perspectives. Based on Robert's reviews on Homestars and personal meetings we decided to go with him.

It was the right decision.

The project was delivered on time and on quote, and the work was high quality and thorough. Any revisions to the quote ( e.g. Asbestos ) were discussed in advance and remediated the next day. Robert provided almost daily updates on progress and met many times with us face to face to discuss any issues we had. Robert and his team 'always' over delivered against our expectations.

I would highly recommend Robert and his PCL team for any renovation project. We will be using him for an upcoming bathroom and kitchen remodel.

Where to start? Everything I read on here about Robert is true. He approaches the project as if it were his own house. His standards are high which means he is constantly having to fix, change and redo where other trades have fallen short. He takes pride in his work and wants the very best. He won't work with inferior materials or take shortcuts. He stands behind everything he does. He is a great collaborator.
He wasn't my first first choice because we were shopping by price but after several consultations, and at the 11th hour we changed our minds and decided to go with Robert because he was more attentive and respectful in the quoting process. That was the best decision and a lucky one. The only mistake was that we only hired him to finish the exterior. Our top to bottom, inside out renovation and addition project became quite problematic almost from the start. Robert was always there (physically and over the phone) helping us to troubleshoot, find new trades and find alternative solutions to some major issues. By the time we reached the point of insulating and residing, winter had set in and Robert and his crew of merry men were there everyday getting our house sealed and finished in sub zero conditions. They didn't abandon us or rush the job because of the weather nor did they sacrifice Robert's high standard or finish. Robert is truly a good person, trustworthy, dedicated, honest, hardworking and he instills all of these qualities in the people who work for him. I was told his prices are higher than most but when I look back at what others quoted and what Robert delivered, he is worth every penny and the others most definitely would have cut corners or fallen short. Looking back, PCL was the only choice in my opinion.

We hired PCL to do the exterior siding and trim work on our new home this summer (2016).
Robert and his crew were great to work with. Open and friendly.
They always took the time to listen to any questions we had and helped to provide ideas and suggestions on the best solutions regardless of the issues left by other trades.
They take pride in their work and don't just take the easiest path to complete a job. They treat your house like they were building their own.

In summer 2015, we hired PCL to:
- do a large interior renovation where we demolished our kitchen and rebuilt it in a new location in our home
- exterior reno to remove 3 layers of siding and all insulation and put in spray foam + new James Hardie siding
The job grew because we had to perform several structural repair

Robert and his crew were amazing:
- Robert stepped in to start our job quickly when we had problems with our original contractor.
- Robert provided on time quotes
- Robert maintained good communication throughout the project and took care of our home as we had to be out of the country for the majority of the work.
- The worksmanship and attention to detail for both the interior and exterior were extremely high.
- Robert's crew were very friendly and a pleasure to work with
- Most importantly where we encountered issues with one of Robert's subcontractors who's work was not up to par, Robert had him repair it quickly.
- Robert is committed to the quality of his work and has come back to check on things and ensure everything is operating well.

We had the stucco exterior of our house completely re-faced with Hardie Board siding.The work was completed in a timely manner and with the utmost professionalism. There was much attention paid to every detail. Workers were extremely knowledgable, professional and pleasant to deal with on a daily basis.

This company worked hard to earn the business.
The price was very competitive.
The workmanship was exceptional.
This is the first recommendation I have ever put on any site, because these guys earned it.
They started the job and stayed on it until it was completely finished.
Bringing on larger crews if it became necessary.
Highly recommended, I had no idea of how much work was required and the level of prep needed before they could even start siding, worth every penny.

PCL did great work re-siding our home. You'd be surprised what people will slap up on their walls over the 100 years a home like ours has been standing, but PCL was never phased by what they ran across. They removed various types and eras of siding along with barn board, bits of insulation and whatever else happened to be under there. They applied spray foam insulation and plywood sheathing, coordinated with our window supplier for window installation, and then sided the whole house with Hardie siding and trim. Robert and his crew showed up on schedule and were professional to deal with. Their communication was very detailed before, during and after, and their responses to our questions were prompt. We were never left wondering what was happening or why they were doing things a certain way. PCL was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend them. We are very happy with how the house looks and receive compliments regularly.

Robert and his crew were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They have a very professional approach, take obvious pride in their work and are always willing to take care of the details that make all the difference to a final project. I can't recommend highly enough getting the spray foam applied to the outside of the house with Hardieplank over top. The brick on our exterior was nothing worth showing off. It was not the highest quality brick to begin with and it had been painted a few times. The exterior looks great now and our heating bill has been cut in half. It's also nice not to have to worry about the foam off-gassing inside the house. Robert suggested this option and it worked out beautifully.
