Bad and unprofessional experience with Matrix Remediation
Prior to working with Matrix, I recommend reading their reviews closely. Our experience was not good.
Working with Matrix was a bad experience. We discovered a leak in our kitchen over three weeks ago, and engaged Matrix to fix the issue as they market themselves as a one-stop shop for water damage. The project manager, John, described Matrix as a general contractor, and he told us that their scope of work included identifying and fixing the leak, and any remediation that needed to occur as a result (in our case, mold).
He also said that they work with a preferred roofing company to address the leaks in the roof, and they sent this recommended roofing company out to assess and fix the leak around the chimney. Over two weeks and three visits later, the roof leak is still not fixed and water is still dripping into our kitchen. In the meantime, the roofer has managed to make a mess of the chimney (which even Matrix described as not good work) and disconnect our hood fan vent from our stove.
Matrix's work was unprofessional. They showed up over 3 hours late, and they did the remediation work without wearing any PPE that we could see. They still charged us for PPE on the invoice. They hounded us day after day to pay the invoice (despite the fact that the project wasn't complete).
Despite this nightmare, Matrix, and John in particular, were highly unprofessional and downright condescending when asked to make the issue right. When I called to ask him to have someone come and fix the roof the first time, his only response was a sarcastic "boy, aren't you glad you weren't camping this weekend? Always gotta look on the bright side."
When I called him earlier today to once again have them work as the general contractor to resolve the issue that their subcontractor had yet to fix, his only response was "it's not my job to make it right" and referred us back to the roofer (that they recommended and stood by) to come back a fourth time. When we asked for his last name to escalate to the owner of the business, he refused to give us his information and once again showed zero accountability for the work of his team and subcontractors.
I called back to again ask for contact info for the owner, and instead of giving us the opportunity to work with a different member of their team, John hung up on us.
Edit to add: The owner of the company, Guy, finally returned our call after I found his contact information posted online and contacted him. Our Matrix project manager, John, had refused to provide this proactively and hung up on us when we asked for the owners info. I am adding an additional star to my review as Guy apologized to us and provided a refund for the roofing portion of the project, as they were unable to make the fix to our roof and caused further damage to the hood fan vent. I feel that this is a fair outcome due to the fact that they were unable to meet the scope of work and complete the project.
