-The work wasn’t even finished and all their tools were already packed in their van, with one member staying back and finishing the job in a hurry. I even had to grab the guy last second to tell him to put my sliding doors back in place, he was expecting me to finish his job for him. When I pointed out another issue the guy said: “but I already packed my tools”.
Wow!
-His workers barely spoke English. How am I supposed to correct their work if we don’t understand each other, and the business owner is not on site. Even the business owner didn’t understand his workers. He told them to remove stairs in the bedroom, and they removed the stairs in the living room and had to fix it.
-The only reason I went with Danny’s business was their five year warranty for the labour. The job was not even done and the Floors were already clicking, and there is space between vinyl pieces. When I pointed this out before I payed them for labour, they said just pay us now, wait 4 days for moisture to settle in and you’ll be good. And If doesn’t get better it’s covered by our warranty. Guess what? It’s been 3 weeks, nothing is fixed and they’re not returning my email or calls. They literally took their payment and disappeared.
-when he did the estimate, he told me and my wife that all floors will be same level. He also said he’ll do a nice stair covering/nosing. As soon as he walked in with his crew on the work day, his worker said that he has to cut my door down because the floor will be higher at entrance, and he also said he can’t do the step covering fully, even though I got charged full price for it. Before this day he told us all floors will be same level, I SPECIFICALLY asked him that question. He is all talk until the work day comes, then it's one problem after another.
I didn’t want my door cut down. His crew did it anyways when I wasn’t around, and I only found out because they did such a horrible job you could see snapped wood all along the bottom of the door. They fixed this by painting the wood with permanent markers. You should already have an idea about how professional they are. But keep reading:
-He told me he’ll charge me 200$ for removal of current flooring when I asked for a discount. I was not given this discount later, and his excuse was that I used a credit card to pay! (he didn’t mention this when I asked if I can pay with credit card). I said fine, no discount. Without the discount, I was supposed to pay him 800-1000$ for removal. He billed me for 1400$. And his excuse was: sorry I was probably distracted by kids. Lame!
-He increased the final bill once more saying: sorry there was a mistake and not everything was added properly.
-total area of work to be done was increased by 260 sq ft, which would have caused a 1500$ increase max. But my final bill was almost doubled of the original one, because 'kids distracted him when filing the invoice" and “something didn’t add up properly”.
I would stay away if I was you. There is no shortage of floorers in Toronto so no reason to risk it.
