Bill came in to install my stuv-21 single face clad fireplace. His preference was that I was not there for the install. He left the install, demanded payment. I paid him and when I returned to the cottage, there were numerous problems which he did not want to deal with and had ignored. He did not remove the screws for the retractable glass which meant I couldn't even use the fireplace. I had to call the Stuv company and get technical support -- he didn't even want to do this as the installer.

I messaged him and he said he would return to my place for free, then again he said actually it would cost $350. He also told me that I needed some extra parts so I bought them through Stuv.

When I contacted him again, he was in some sort of bad mood, and was rude. He REFUSED to take my phone calls, and then said I would have to pay $1000. I literally started crying when I learned this, because I didn't have this money and he initially told me $0, then $300, now $1000. He forced me knowing I had no other option - we finally settled on $800.

He then refused to give me the time that he would be attending and did not answer my texts or my phone calls.

He did arrive for a full day job on Oct 31, 2022 and was eager to get the work done. He scratched the cladding exterior and then took spray paint and tried to fix it. He took spray paint and painted it all over the clad. The problem is that the spray paint was a DIFFERENT colour. I told them to stop and asked them what they were doing. The spray paint wasn't going to come off and they just destroyed the cladding. When I asked him what he was going to do to fix it, he said I'm not coming back here. I was mind blown. This company is terrible, they had the worst customer service and they will ruin your product (see picture).

I had to get a quote for NEW cladding and it is $5000-$6000 which I cannot afford. This man didn't even try to help to fix the situation. He just left as quickly as he could when he realized that he had messed up our very expensive fireplace.

This guy will pretend to be nice to your face. He is highly manipulative, and money hungry. He is also very dishonest, not keeping his word with respect to his pricing and taking advantage of a young family with budgetary restraints, and having no remorse when ruining their fireplace.

Do not give him your business

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bill ! We hired Bill to install our new wood stove insert. We had the insert already. We had had no liner to begin with and required Bill to remove our old wood stove, install the new one, install the liner, and order a floor hearth extension for safety purposes. Bill provided a free consultation and ordered our hearth extension. He was prompt and cheerful and personality-plus and went over and beyond with assisting us. We had no idea what was required and needed to be done regarding flue, flue collar and chimney liner, etcetera. We just had this new wood stove insert that needed to be installed. He and his wife attended to sweep the chimney first as we had had no liner at all before, as I mentioned, provided the estimate, ordered our ceramic hearth extension and we made an appointment for the install date. They were quick and organized and VERY CLEAN and efficient with the sweep. Big tarps laid down. Between the two appointments, we were in communication. He is very available by his cell phone. He showed up on the install date very prompt and performed the install of stove and liner. Again, very precise, efficient, organized and clean, tarps laid down. He was a pleasure to have around and also very helpful with his tips and knowledge on types of wood and the burning of different wood and use of the new stove. He is of course WETT CERTIFIED and go to his Web site, you will see ALL the other services he provides and a very wide range of territory, too. This proper thank you is long overdue.
