Electrical outlets

Two outlets on the same wall in my house stopped working. Quick investigation on my own confirmed a wire had disintegrated somewhere. One electrician quoted me a ridiculous flat rate for the repair, but I suspected it was overpriced so I found Community Electric on this site. Aidan from Community Electric was very responsive to questions in advance by email, his team arrived exactly on time, worked carefully with me to diagnose the problem -- a tricky task considering it's an old building and the previous owner did some less-than-obvious work on the place -- then resolved it quickly with as little damage to the surrounding wall as was possible to repair the outlets. I am very satisfied for the work, and happy to have saved a lot of money from the original quote so I can use the difference to patch up the wall.
I would definitely recommend Community Electric and use them again if required.

Fan Installation

We contacted Community Electric and were immediately schdeuled for an installation visit the following week. We were given a very accurate estimate of cost of service (per hour -- and it was noted that it should take more than an hour). CE arrived promtly and immediately installed the fan without any issues. We had also purchased a call plate, to switch out the light control to one that was more compatible with our fan. Unfortunately, the plate that we purchased had a sensor that was not compatible with the fan that we had purchased (it was too big for the fan). They explained the issue and showed it to my husband. Our fan also came with a remote so it wasn't a problem. Overall we were very satisfied with the professionalism of the experience. The fan looks great, works great (even on high speed, which is SUPER fast, there is no wobbling), and Community Electric left our home as clean as it was when they arrived. I would definitely recommend them.

ceiling fan

I needed to have a ceiling fan/light switch that had been broken when we moved into our new house repaired. Two other professionals (the handyman and an unlicensed electrician) had tried and failed). An outside electrician we knew would have charged $350 to walk in the door! Community Electric scheduled the visit for the day after I phoned, the electrician showed up on time, quickly diagnosed the problem (a burned out something in the ceiling housing), fixed it, and reinstalled the wall switch. He had to do a little bit of rewiring in order to put in the switch that I wanted, which was different than the one that came with the fan. He worked hard to get it right and was very particular about cleaning up when he was finished. $175 may seem like a lot but this is GTA and right now, I am very happy with how the fan works!

Outlet work

Superior experience from initial contact to final results. Received appointment call within hour of leaving a message. Asked for explanation of what I wanted done. They repeated back my requests and we agreed on a 2 hour arrival window. Called service morning confirming arrival time. Respectfully and patiently discussed with the house residents, my senior parents, what is to be done. Performed detailed review of work area, including circuit panel. In very clear, respective phases, provided choices and explanation of the electrical situation. Indicated drawing power line though wall will take longer than pre-paid 2 hours, provided estimate. Reviewed two other outlets, indicating they are safe. Work was done cleanly and keeping with safety code. When complete, the outlet looks like it was always there. Advise you keep track of hours, being clear to understand clock begins when they walk in the door and ends when they are done. This includes your talk time- I was not happy to learn discussion is part of the fee. If you manage discussion, you will certainly get a quality job.

Work around the house

Aidan was assigned to our job which involved removing our chandelier and replacing it with a fixture we provided. We also asked him to come to the new house to provide us with an estimate for some additional electrical work we were thinking about having down.
The entire Community Electric team I dealt with over the phone and email were super timely and responsive regardless of whether they were answering questions, providing estimates, COIs, licensing information or simply scheduling an appointment. Aidan the electrician was on time, courteous, professional and a lovely person.
Their rates are straightforward and they're the ultimate professionals. I would recommend them time and time again ... in fact, they're coming back this upcoming Thursday to do another job for us :)

Electrical on an addition

Many companies would not even talk to me. Only the professionals at Community Electrician said that they would help me. They came to my house and verified that all my work was at or exceeded code, filed the permit and was at my house when the City inspected the work, The new inspector approved the work, Thank God for Homestars and for the wonderful, honest people at Community Electrician. They even charged me less than quoted for the superior work they did.
I am never again going to do work on my home again as the City fined me $2,300.00. If I need anything done with electric in my home, I am calling Community Electrician. Not taking the risk again with this corrupted City Government. It is so hard to find honest licensed trade people in GTA, finding Community Electrician has restored my faith that there are good people out there. Some time I think a licensed issued by the City is a licensed to take from the middle class , but the people at Community Electrician are great people. May God bless them, Now if I can only find an honest licensed plumber.

Garage bad wiring

We had a great experience with Aidan from CE. He was on time, very personable, and unlike some technicians I've run across, he walked me through his thinking step-by-step. Would most definitely recommend him to anyone who ever needs help of an electrician. We had to wait a day becuase his schedule sometimes can be busy but it was totally worth it.

Landscape Lighting

This is my first review on Homestars. I started using Homestars a looong time ago and always took advantage of reading other people's helpful reviews, but not until now have I felt compelled to write my own. After procrastinating for a long time on looking for an electrician, I finally looked up electricians and noticed the high star rating for Community Electric. When I called, Aidan answered and helped me diagnose a problem over the phone (which I was then able to fix myself) instead of coming by and charging me for something that was easy to fix yourself. Since I liked his honesty and professionalism, I scheduled for him to come out and install some landscape lighting, motion sensor lights, and an LED dimmer at our house. He showed up on time (no flakiness here) and gave me a very upfront and fair quote for everything I needed done. Another electrician (I didn't get his name but he was also pretty good) showed up 15 minutes later and they began their work. I paid them exactly what was quoted and I am very pleased with the results of their work! Community Electric will definitely be on my go-to list from now on. It's a real blessing to be able to find such a reliable and pleasant contractors that you can count on!

Entertainment unit

Aidan and the guys at Community Electric did a job for me that consisted of running power out to an entertainment area in my backyard. They had to dig a long trench to bury the cable underground, including lifting up the turf and laying it back down at the end of the day. They started on time, finished on time and on budget. I got 3 quotes and CE was the cheaper of them all. They were very friendly and professional and didn't leave a mess. This was about a 3 months ago and I am very happy with the quality of their work till this day. He even gave me some tips on installing LED kitchen lights that I was able to do myself, saving me money. I know who I will be calling next time I need any electrical work done.

Light Fixtures

These people are great to deal with. I am a long-distance landlord, and I had old track light fixtures in my unit that needed replacing. They came out a couple of times to take the specs; they found the old fixtures on the internet, and they ordered and installed them. Only charged me $180 for the labour (even though it required several visits) and the cost of the fixtures. They were great about communicating costs and expectation of delivery dates and coordinating with my tenant to install the fixtures. I am putting these guys on my list of regular Electricians!
