Haystack Home Inspections

This is the second time we have used Chris for a home inspection. He really delivers. His reports are delivered in a very timely manner, and are very in-depth and easily understood, which in our case, helped with our negotiations. Buying a home is a stressful time at best, and Chris took the time to explain his report to us as well as show us in person, why he was putting certain points in the inspection. Being that our home was close to 100 years old, there were many potential issues that needed a close look. Armed with this valuable knowledge allows any potential home owner to move forward with more confidence in regards to offers, and any future work that may need to be done if the deal is sealed. I would not hesitate to use Chris again or recommend him to anyone who wants a home inspector worth his weight in gold.

My husband and I used Chris Thompson for an inspection upon buying our first home together. We were beyond shocked at how detailed our report was and how quickly it was done! Chris went into the new place within days and had a report to us right away...which was very helpful when having a deadline on the offer we had put in. After we received the report, Chris called us to ask if we had any questions on what he had found, which we did, and he explained thoroughly all of our concerns and how to fix them. We were even told what to contact our new start about right away to have the most important thing fixed. That was such a big help! Chris then followed up after we had moved in to make sure everything was ok and that we had no further questions. I will definitely recommend Chris to anyone I know needing an inspector. With all of the commotion selling and then buying, he has made that part of our journey hassle free ... Even the payment was easy. All in all, very diligent, detailed and trust worthy service. Chris did a home inspection for us before our second home purchase. I wish we had him the first time we bought a home! He is thorough and brought potentially major issues to our attention as well as small things that we needed to know about. His inspection was structured in a way that made it easy to list "deal-breaker" level issues and bring them to negotiations with the sellers.

His knowledge of home construction including roofing, drainage and electrical panels enabled him to give us a walk through and explanation of our new home that will help us with maintenance and repair in the future.

Chris is friendly and professional. He made a follow up phone call some time after our purchase to check in and remind us that we can contact him for follow up questions or a second option any time. I'm sure we will!

We were so glad to find Chris to do our home inspection. We moved into a very old home and he provided a detailed report which allowed us to address some immediate concerns as well as those that may have cropped up in the short and long term. He was thorough and reliable and even went so far as to recommend some trades to facilitate some of the issues. We would use him again anytime.

We had Chris inspect a 1908 house we put a bid on. He was very knowledgeable about older homes and all the potential issues we could be looking at. His inspection was prompt and thourough. He gave us a very detailed report outlining the issues he found and walked us though the home physically showing us the findings which was very helpful and reassuring. Chris did a pre-purchase inspection on a condo. The unit had been rented, and had some noticeable wear and tear. I was concerned about the potential for other issues that may not have been visible to me or my realtor. Chris did the inspection and uncovered a handful of other things that I had not noticed, and provided a very thorough debrief session in addition to the detailed report. I really appreciated his willingness to explain things to me, and to take the time to point out things during the inspection. He also gave guidance on the repairs in terms of who best to undertake the work and if the issue was relatively routine. What also stood out was his willingness to answer questions after his work was complete and he had already been paid. I ended up purchasing the unit, and definitely felt that the inspection helped me know understand how much to set aside for repairs and helped me 'know what I was getting into'.

So happy we had Chris do our home inspection, he went above and beyond to help us make an informed decision. Pointed out many things but didn't scare us just gave us the facts. He even went under the house into a 2 1/2ft dirt crawl space....He also followed up with two phone calls to see if we needed more information or further explanation of any points in inspection report.

I called Haystack for a home inspection after narrowing down to the top 3 and finding someone that could work within my short timeframe. It was obvious on the phone that Chris' (owner) first priority is that you receive a quality, thorough home inspection. He shared knowledge immediately, didn't rush, and even recommended other possible inspectors in the area (my location is a remote). It cost a bit more and it was completely worth it. I know every inch of the house, the potential issues, and remedies based on a very thorough report. Chris even followed up a couple of months later to see how I was settling in and to call if I had any additional questions. Customer service and integrity of this level is very rare these days. Chris also has decades of experience building houses, and that knowledge is confidence inspiring when I asked questions during our walkthrough. I highly recommend Haystack home inspections and will call on Chris again if and when the time comes.

Chris was very thorough and identified areas of a prospective property that looked just fine but were a pile of misery when you peeled back the layers.
