Summary:
If you like a lack of communication, snarky emails, and no progress then certainly hire them.

I talked to them on the phone, I met with them at the Home Show (talked to the husband), and then communicated more with them in February and that is when I put my deposit down for them to build the garage specifically stating that I want it built in early September (this should be easy with proper planning and being on the ball when you have this much notice)

I contacted them in mid August when my landscaping was completed to see when they would be starting in September and just to confirm with them that the landscaping was finished. They emailed me to tell me that they were backed up and that they could try to pencil me in (i'm sorry, shouldn't I already be in the schedule as I contacted you in Feb?). Nope, not only was I not on the schedule, my permit hadn't been started, the trusses (which needed to be custom made due to the size my neighbourhoods bylaws stated they must be) weren't ordered.

We kept on trying to contact them over the next two months and finally we got a response on Oct 10th stating that they would let us know next Tuesday when they would be starting (they didn't).

We were finally fed up with the lack of professionalism and communication so we cancelled the contract as they were in breach of it anyhow. It took us two months to get our garage back and we had to send them an email timeline stating all of the events that had happened. Which we were told that it had been sent and that they didn't have to give it to us anyhow as it was past the 30 days or whatever of signing (I talked to my lawyer, they did).

This doesn't even count the many times that I had received rude emails (when I got them...which wasn't that often) asking you wouldn't want us to stop halfway through someone else's build (no, but I wanted you to plan accordingly as I gave you 7 months to be on the ball) or stating that she talks to 40 people a day and can't be expected to respond to them all.
