Washer machine

My story is similar to the other ones where I have an issue with the washing machine (it was not draining). I called them on Friday and I've been quoted $80 + HST for the service call which I have agreed to. Sunday morning, their technician showed. After 2 minutes he quoted me $320 + tax and have the machine. He mentioned he needs to check further. After he's done he said it needs a bearing, but it should work for now . Also, he opened the back of the machine and mentioned that I can put back the belt myself if it comes off the pulley. After he left, we tried it, the belt came off and back to square one. I tried to put back the belt on, but i cut my hand and was not successful.

I wish I had check the reviews before calling this unprofessional company.

Worst Service of ALL Time

**DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY**
We contacted these guys to service our electric range and were quoted an $80 service call fee that would be waived if we decided to proceed with the repair. When the repairmen arrived, all they did was press buttons to confirm what we already knew - that our range wasn't working. In order for them to actually open the stove and diagnose the problem, they charged us an absurd amount that needed to be paid in full upfront. As the next step, our case was transferred to the parts department where we were also quoted an absurd amount. The customer service representatives are not the least bit helpful, and kept delaying our case for no reason, always making up excuses and not getting back to us when they said they would. We would NOT recommend using this company for anything. They are the WORST company that we have dealt with for anything and they put customer service to shame.

These guys are the absolute worst service I've ever experienced in my entire life.

I wouldn't use them again if they paid me too

My experience mirrors that of most everyone else. I wish I had read these reviews prior to calling Appliance Repairman. $80.00 + HST service fee I have no issue with. To get them to do ANYTHING beyond that will cost you another $316.00 at minimum. I had 4 problem appliances before they came. I still have 4 problem appliances and am out $716.00. Parts and labour would have in all cases cost well more than replacement machines and would have come without any meaningful warranty; and mine are only 4 years old. In most cases the manufacturing monoploly knowingly manufactures junk and this company preys on the fact that they view every appliance as disposable after one year, but will charge you a premium to advise you to do so.

Washing Machine Repair - Stay Away from this Company

My washing machine broke. My husband called arouns and it is $80.00 for them to come to the house - that's okay, I agree this is justified cost, everyone charges the same fee. The repair man looks at the machine (doesn't touch it, just looks at it - this should have been a warning sign) and says it will be $280.00 to service the machine and the only additional money to be spent will be parts. I confirmed on numerous occasions in the span of 20 minutes that yes it would be cheaper to repair and yes the only additional fees I would be looking at would be parts and he sees this issue all the time and he usually just has to clean the sensors and it will be fine etc etc etc. Well guess what, after spending 45 minutes in the house, we need a part - it was the main board (I googled parts before agreeing to the $280.00 and decided to go ahead since the most expensive part for my make and model was $200.00) The main board is the most expensive part but it was still cheaper than the new one I was looking at (and mentioned to the repairman that a new one was $804 and he insisted he could fix it for less) He left and I expected him to return with the part in a couple hours - wrong. They aren't open on weekends and someone from Customer Service was going to call me to set up a new time to install the part and confirm the costs (I had to call and get this information, it was not offered). Monday passed - no call, Tuesday passed I called them and was told that they were having trouble sourcing a part and would call me back. Well no call back so I called again on Wednesday and was told that there was no record of my previous THREE calls to them but he (they didn't give me a name of the man) had called and left me a message confirming parts and installation would cost $674.72 (there was no call and no message). After losing it (with my phone on mute) I asked to speak to a manager. Apparently the manager only starts at 2:30 on Wednesday's.....REALLY don't you close at 5? SO I left my name and number AGAIN and was assured the manager would call me about a "good will" credit of $50.00 before 5pm. Guess what? Their phones still don't dial out because I DIDN'T GET CALLED BACK. At this point I am pretty much fuming over a lousy $50 (which by the way didn't even cover the cost of doing the laundry at the Laundromat) and never getting a call back. So I called again....only to be told the manager wasn't in until 10:30. I was pretty sarcastic by this point and asked if they really do start at 10:30 or if I should just hold and wait until someone comes to work. I finally got a call back......I almost fell off my chair, I guess they fixed their phone systems and could call out. The "manager" needs to take a course in listening skills. I went over the entire ordeal and asked why I was paying for installation when I was ASSURED that the $280.00 covered it. She said, no - the $280.00 covers labour, not installation. Since when were those 2 mutually exclusive activities? Somehow, she took this comment as me being upset about the $80.00? Seriously? Wow....nope that is not what I was upset about. I was upset about paying $280.00 to still have a broken machine and then getting blindsided with an additional $672.74 for parts and installation! I was told all I had to pay for were parts. She said they choose their words very carefully and installation is not labour. I have to pay for them to install the new board (undo 4 tiny screws, plug in the new board and put the 4 tiny screws back in). How much do you pay your technicians? Apparently $280.00 for 47 minutes. In the end she bought my husbands silence for $65.00 ( sent in the mail by cheque but they charge your card $316.00 before they even remove the cover to your appliance) So I chose to be very literal and cautious in my communication noting that they bought his silence for the $65.00 and not mine. They should have done the decent thing and reimbursed me everything EXCEPT for the $80.00 fee to come to the house and they should have credited my credit card instantly, not send me a cheque.

So BEWARE! They are dishonest!

Washing Machine Repair

Stay away. Repair tech came 15 minutes after the window - spent 45 minutes (10 on the phone with head office on another job that sounded like it had issues). Said he "fixed the main board" and it should be "good for a while" but if problem persisted would cost $800 to fix. I was charged $316 (debit machine) and he left. I put in a wash load less than 5 minutes later and the machine was dead again. I called customer service who told me the tech was "too far away" to return. My complaint was registered and I still had to call back twice before a "manager" called me back to say "there's nothing we can do" and if I wanted to pay the $800 for the new part, they'd be happy to come out and install it. Stay away from this company.

Appliance Repairman – ridiculously expensive and unprofessional

Appliance Repairman – ridiculously expensive and unprofessional

Expensive:

· Charged $120 for a water valve broken by tech on site
· Overall charge was $452.00 tax included. A brand new equivalent GE Dishwasher is $478.00 + tax (84 % its value)
· When calling Appliance Repairman Contact Center prior to tech visit ($80 waived if accepted their labor quote) were unable to share estimate ranges for a simple leakage. However, when tech comes to my place it quickly flags a $280 + tax fee regardless if half an hour or 3 hour. Standard charge. Should I’ve know their ranges from my first call, I would not have requested their service.

Unprofessional:

· No warranty on labor performed. If it fails with same issue, you pay again.
· Technician did not carry a lantern. Had to assist with mine.
· Technician did not carry Teflon sealing tape. Had to provide mine.
Technician did not carry a self-lock force plier. Had to provide mine.

Please do not hire these guys under any circumstance.

Wasted Money

Stay away from them.. I will not recommend them. We had a very bad and expensive experience with them. Our Dishwasher started leaking. When the technician came, he did not even take out the dishwasher to understand the main reason for leakage. When we asked him to look at the root cause by taking out the dishwasher, he dismissed our view and instead just sealed a mushroom pipe in the front base. He just sealed it from the bottom. He charged ~$384 for a work less than 30 min.

The issue started again within few days. They assured that we had a warranty for a month. When we called them, they didn't even agree to come over and look at the issue again. We finally had to call a local handyman who took the dishwasher out and found the root cause of the problem and charged just 1 hr labor.

Customer Alert

My experience with the Appliance Repairman company is a story of holding a damaged washer machine as hostage and asking for ransom to make it usable again.
Our washing machine stopped agitating the clothes for washing. We called the Appliance Repairman and they sent Tony as an expert to fix it. Tony examined the machine and gave a diagnostic of a part to be replaced to make it run again. The price for the part and labor totaled $457.65.
The price for a new machine of same brand and similar model was about $600.00, but I naively believed Tony’s argument that old appliances are much more durable than those recently manufactured. Fixing the one I had would make it work longer than a new one would. I wanted to get the problem solved quickly and authorized the repair.
After replacing the broken part and doing some “wiring and motor service”, Tony put the machine to work with a light load of clothes. When the agitating stage of the washing cycle started, all seemed fine. Tony said he couldn’t wait for the complete cycle to finish because it was long and he had many other customers to service. Since the washer was properly agitating the clothes, Tony asked me to sign the papers stating that the machine had been repaired, which I signed, and also asked me to pay for the repair. Tony said his collecting machine was blocked for credit cards, so I had to use my debit card.
When Tony and his assistance were storing their tools and preparing to leave, smoke started to come out of the washer. Tony opened the washer again and said the motor was burned and needed to be replaced as well. The estimated cost for that was about $500 more.
I argued that I had paid the amount asked to have my washer fixed. I did my part of the agreement. But Appliance Repairman did not, since the washer was not fixed and ready for use. After some inconclusive discussions, Tony and his assistance got their tools and quickly went away. Telephone calls to the Appliance Repairman Co. were also unfruitful, as the representative simply repeated the same requirement of additional payment to have the washer fixed, with no guaranty that the next payment would ensure complete resolution of the problem.
We felt we had our washer held as hostage and a ransom was being asked to release it to work again. We decided to buy a new washer.
I wish I had checked the HomeStars website, that shows 436 reviews of the Applied Repairman company with an average customer rating of only 0.7 on a scale of 0-10.

Stay away.... Unbelievably rude and rip-offs

Just stay away and do not touch those guys with a long stick.
Called today, booked an appointment for tomorrow, then 14 minutes later I realized that tomorrow is Sunday and we have plans to be away from home. I called Exactly 14 minutes later and apologized for my mistake and said I will call on Tuesday to rebook. The woman insisted to either re-book or for me to pay 80 $ as a cancellation fees!!!!! She insisted and when I refused she called me names!!!! She was so rude, unbelievable!!! Can you believe this?? Are we in Canada? Is this customer service? Canceling an appointment 14 minutes later you pay 80$? It is very clear that they have no business and they just want to catch anybody who comes their way.

When i checked their reviews here, I understand. They just depend on people who call them not knowing how bad they are. That is why they want to charge you if you cancel!! they do not want you to get away after you fell in their trap.

Also, i was not able to find a Google profile for them. I think they do not want one because it will expose them. I think such business should not be allowed to operate and should be shut down by the authorities.

They have apparently 100% fake and made up customer reviews on their own website ... amazing!

Another Swindled Customer

Our washing machine stopped working and I phoned Repairman for service.Tony and Mike arrived that afternoon . After some preliminary work Tony indicated that in order to find the problem it would cost $320 +HST but he assured me he would fix the machine. I was foolish to authorize this charge. After several hours I was told that the timer needed replacement and Tony would phone with a quote. I never heard from him but the company quoted $550.28+HST for a part

If the timer needed replacement, this should have been diagnosed during the preliminary work using Tony's volt meter. Therefore, I am asking for a refund of $240 because I was told a service call cost $80.
