Had septic system installed last summer. It was done in the given timeframe and on cost. I also had driveway work and underground pipe work performed by Carr excavating, which was done on time, on cost and done right. However, shortly after the installation there was massive sinking of the soil around the tanks and after some back and forth Carr excavating came and filled the sinkholes with topsoil. a few weeks later the sinking continued and now there were holes and trenches up to 18" deep and several feet long. Carr was unwilling to fill them in and stated that was my problem, not theirs. Then in the winter, the system froze up 3 times. Several calls in nthe morning of the first occasion were not picked up or returned, even after at least 3 voice mails left. I had to call a contractor to pump the tank to prevent overflowing which cost $600, which Carr was unwilling to cover (after they finally called back in the afternoon). In order to get the system fixed, I called Waterloo Biofilter (the provider of the system and components), who were very nice and helpful and unfroze the system. They stated that the installation was incorrect and therefore froze. The system froze two more times and everytime Waterloo Biofilter was so nice and unfroze the system for no charge since the installer only showed up once after Waterloo was alredy on site. In the spring Waterloo returned and insulated the suspected area which they sought was most likely to have been caused the freezing. They suggested to have Carr come insulate the tanks and add more topsoil to prevent future freezing, which they refused. They also were rude on the phone. They stated if I want anything from them, I should contact their lawyer. Since a legal dispute would take month to be resoved, I decided to fix the system myself and spent 60hrs and about $1,000 in materials to do so to prevent the system from freezing again in the fast approaching winter. Conclusion: I should have done more research and chosen a reputable septic installer, who does it right, has pride in their workmanship and values the customer and their concerns if things don't work right. Would I recommend Carr Excavating for septic installations: NO
