Certapro Painters Of South Calgary

We recently had the main floor and upstairs of our NW Calgary house painted by CertaPro and we were very, very disappointed. We had 3x consultations & quotes done and, because quality was very important to us, we actually went with the highest quote, (CertaPro). Our justification was that since we were doing it in the summer, we didn't want summer students to do it; we wanted certified professional painters to do it and we were willing to pay for that level of quality. We made a point of booking it while we were on vacation so that it could be done on time without us getting in the way. The only thing that went to plan was that it was done before we got home...kind of.

The whole house was incredibly dusty but we weren't too fussed about this because when sanding drywall mud its inevitable that dust is going to get everywhere. What bothered us was/is the overall lack of quality. The holes that were filled, sanded and painted were painfully obvious to the naked eye. The cutting around windows and door frames was amateur at best. There were multiple places where they had brushed the trim with the brush, (and no, it wasn't old paint on the trim, it was the new paint). You could easily see where the paint had bled through tape (hint: truly professional painters don't use tape). They even managed to paint an entire wall that they weren't supposed to....they had to come back, take samples of the old paint from a different wall to return the wall in question back to its original color.

When we asked about the qualifications of the painters that did our house, we were told that they were professionals but I just don't see how that can be the case. We had our garage painted last spring and because its just a garage, we specifically hired a different company that utilizes students. We just wanted it painted, we didn't need a professional level of painting. Those kids did a better job in the garage than what the professionals did in the house. I'm certainly not a professional painter, (I'm a long ways from it) but I'm confident that I could have done at least as good of as what CertaPro did.it certainly wouldn't have been any worse.

Once we saw all the issues, and then went through the hassle of getting them to come back and repair it, we thought it was reasonable to expect some kind of discount on the final invoice. We weren't expecting much in this busy economy but some kind of recognition of the issues would have been nice. We were told that the fact that they did come to repair (their) issues was sufficient compensation. We were told that we should be thankful they repaired it as quick as they did, (which was more than a week after the painting). On top of this they gave us a whopping $100 discount.

If high quality is important to you, I/we strongly suggest using a company other than CertaPro. If you're set on using them, I would at least ask for a copy of the tradesman certificate of the specific painters that they will be sending to you so you can be sure you're getting professionals.

Don't trust this company. They employ dishonest staff. I hired Certapro to sand my bathroom/ hallway and paint a few walls it was a nightmare. I had to request a sales quote twice before I got a response from the sales person, then the painters destroyed my tub with the sander which I reported and a person came in to examine the damage but refuse to fix the issue I had enough at that point that I've decided to do my own repairs. I don't like how they refused to take accountability for their actions and imply that I would scape and scratch my own bath tub. Why would I want that, it's so obvious their tools caused the damage! You can guarantee I will be sending them the bill for that.
Plus, they never painted the door ways and there's areas where it doesn't even look like they painted at all (around the toilet). Such a waste of time and money. Your better off looking for a different company to paint for you.

At one point their painter Rod joked about destroying a persons popcorn ceiling when it fell off in chunks while he was rolling paint over it... that just tells me how little they care about their clients property and the quality of service. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!

Estimate and communication was very professional. The work and cleanup was excellent and the cost was competitive.
Small issues were fixed on the final walk through.I would definitely call CPP for my next painting job.

This was an unusual request, my client's new condo has exposed concrete ceilings. They were left unclean and untreated. Per my client's request I looked into getting the ceiling treated. After costing different treatments like plastering or limewash we decided on a good cleaning and a satin clear seal. Certa Pro researched products as well and found me a nice environmentally friendly and low VOC product to use.
I was impressed by their whole team! Professional, friendly, absolutely follow through with everything they proposed and did everything as planned.

I had some painting, staining, and some drywall repair done by this company over two years ago. They had to come back a couple of times to improve the drywall work they completed. I was told that this was the best they could do so I signed off on the project.
Over the next year I had comments of how shotty the work was that Certapro South had done. Eventually a warranty card arrived in the mail and I took the time to bring up my concerns.
Certapro sent a manager who took a few pictures and agreed the work was sub standard and that it would be fixed. I never heard from him again. I found out later that he "moved on" and no one followed up on my concerns.
I spend the next two months with Certapro South being promised that they would get back to me with a repair date once they found someone who was capable to do the work and had time to do it. At least 7 phone calls met with excuses and delays got me nowhere.
Eventually I was told that another representative would come by to have a look at the work. I new what was about to happen.
After some inappropriate comments by this representative I was told that
she would forward my concerns. Shortly after I was contacted by the general manager. He stated he was not going to come back to correct the poor work. I told him the previous manager was going to step up and fix the problem and asked why he was not? He said he could not comment on that. Of course I told him that I would pass this poor decision on his part to as many people as I could. He did not have any concerns about that.
In summary, I strongly suggest anyone steers clear of this company. They have made it very clear that they not only have the properly trained staff to complete work properly, they also wont back up there work. There are plenty of talented and experienced companies out there that can do a better job and who will back up their work.

Wow, I was so completely impressed with Chris and his team Jodi and Vicki!! Their work was incredible, they were professional, friendly and courteous. From the start to the project to completion they were impeccable and thorough. I will be using Certa Pro again and would definitely recommend their services.

Mario and Maria did an outstanding job, working together as a team. They took their time, were careful with our belongings and were meticulous with their cut-lines and in the cleanup each day. Nice work!
