My husband and I hired The Deck Guys to tear down our existing deck and build a new one with the addition of stairs leading into our back yard. All in all, it was a good experience. Pros: everyone from our initial point of contact through the end of construction was nice and professional; our deck turned out absolutely beautiful, with our neighbours on both sides asking the contractors about it while they were building; the total length of time to dismantle and construct was about 6 working days, which seems fairly average; and they were all very gracious and accommodating with our three big friendly dogs. Cons: the only negative thing I have to say about the company is that their communication skills are a bit lacking. You definitely have to stay on top of it and initiate contact and press them for a start date/updates etc but as long as you are okay with that, I'd say there are no other issues. In each instance where I initiated a question or concern (such as following up on our permit, start date etc) they were generally quick to respond and quick to follow through. Would recommend them as long as you are okay with following up with them as opposed to waiting for them to update you. In the end, all that matters is the job though and our new deck is gorgeous and sturdy.

Glad you love the deck. I do take a little issue with this review. We dealt with the city on several issues with your permit. Including modifications. We answered every question you had in a timely manner. I know this being I did this my self. Probably usually in an hour. Did we email you every day saying we don't have a permit yet. No we did not. Every time there was something to tell you we did. It is not our fault that those updates are few and far between from the city. Anyway all is good you have a beautiful deck
