Home Addition

First off.. prior reviews are no indication of current capabilities.
TFIN Group is not to be trusted. They have built my addition NOT to Ontario Building Code and have now been caught by the Town of Oakville. The framing in the Bedroom addition has not passed inspection, they were not to insulate or drywall. Yesterday Sept 10th they were trying to get the building inspector to pass it based upon photographs (which could be of any house). When the steel lintel arrived the stone mason and I both told the "site foreman" Colin it was not too code. His response, "this is what was ordered, so this is what is being installed". It is not to code, code requires six inches on both sides on a load bearing wall. Also masonry cannot be supported by wood. As you can see by the pictures, they failed on both requirements. This is a safety hazard, someone could be seriously injured by this.
You will also see the poor quality of the drywall in the addition which has been noted as complete (remember the framing has not even passed inspection).
Notice the paint job?!?!
My contract specifies they will do the trim as per the rest of my house. The site foreman and his partner were installing this and as you can see from the pictures every window in my house has a ledge in the trim, what they installed does not.
You will notice the studs cut out and the three electrical wires cut as well as the burning to the studs and spray foam insulation. As per the email note from TFIN included here **"If repairs have already been completed and/or the affected area and materials have been altered in any way, we will conclude that no evidence remains to confirm our allegations. As we have several taken photos of our own, taken prior to the concrete being cut out, and following work done by our mason, we will include this evidence as part of our full assessment."** It is now Sept 11 2013 and he has forbidden us to get it repaired yet has not done so himself. And as a note, after 15 minutes of being accused of cutting it myself they finally disclosed the photographic evidence showed them to have cut it and they kept this information from us for more than a week. This is a serious issue, my children 5 and 7 along with my wife live in this house. He could have burned it down risking the lives of my family. If you are thinking of using them run away, run away fast.
The last picture shows the main power connection to my air conditioner, it was ripped off the wall to allow for the stucco to be applied. Is was originally laying in the mud and now is in the mud with wood chips around it. It has been there for a month now and is LIVE. Anyone touching it, if wet risks a fatal electrocution.
Run away, run away, run away. Do not trust this contractor. I have several recording conversations and many many more emails with the false information they have given me and my family. I am willing to share them with anyone who would like additional information regarding Richard and The TFIN Group based in Oakville. Whatever the write in rebuttal should be taken with extreme caution as even the building inspector from the Town of Oakville has told me she will stand in court against them if required. I can be reached at carl_seedhouse@yahoo.ca for anyone who wants more information including all his contract violations, copies of his emails that include misinformation including misinformation about what code really is.
Run away, run away, run away is all I can say.
