"Call Your Mudder"

Steve did great work on the first stucco job, but when he was given a deposit for the next job - he ghosted us.
Took the money and won't answer or return our phone calls or texts!
He left behind some of his equipment like he was coming back but compared to the money given - which equals 2
Weeks of my pay...all I can say is don't hire him!'

Having done a ton of renovations in the past 2 years we have dealt with our fair share of contractor's and tradesman. For anyone looking to have their ceilings done look no further than Steve. Our ceilings look AMAZING!! Steve is professional, fast, affordable and provides high quality workmanship. He is friendly and was a pleasure to have in our home. Steve seems to specialize in stucco removal. Perhaps he is good at that. He's a very friendly guy and I made the mistake of hiring him to tape and plaster my newly drywalled basement. It took him a number of days and I saw no cause for concern. Upon "completion", I took a quick look and everything seemed OK - of course, all surfaces were covered in a thick layer of dust. After vacuuming, I came to the horrid realization that the space was RIFE with flaws. Unfinished, really, would be the correct word - not a smooth seam to be found. Entire areas missed. I texted him about the problems and he said he would return to take a look. Well guess what - no Steve and no response to my subsequent calls and texts. NOTHING. I've spent at least 20 hours repeatedly sanding and plastering, and I'm still dismayed. The walls are OK but the ceiling is atrocious - everyone looks at it and grimaces. EVERY corner where wall meets ceiling has cracked - rather than try to fix I have hidden it with crown molding. Steve took my money and ran - avoiding opportunists like him is the reason HomeStars exists. I realize he has a few positive reviews, but be careful not to dismiss my experience as an aberration - it happened to me and it can happen to you. Exercise extreme caution, and above all else, DO NOT PAY BEFORE A VERY THOROUGH FINAL INSPECTION! You've been warned...

A friend recommended Smooth Steve and we are so grateful! My husband and I recently bought a place that is entirely covered in stucco ceilings, which neither of us like so we decided to remove this on our upper floor. I left a voicemail with Steve and he called me back right away. He was able to accommodate our tight timelines (we wanted it done before we moved in because of all the dust). Had scraped my stucco ceilings on my own and realized why most people pay to have this done! Steve came in and skim coated and sanded my ceilings nice and smooth, He did a great job! Rather then scrape or remove the existing popcorn ceiling, Steve mudded right over it. 4 coats over 3 days, minimal mess and it looks amazing. We were very happy with the results.

I called Steve on a Friday night with an urgent job that needed to be done on the weekend. He came right away and gave a reasonable price. Both on Saturday and sunday, he was there exactly on time. He kept me informed of exactly what he was doing and how long it would take. Furthermore, he went out of his way to do another minor side job patching a few holes in the drywall for me.
