This company came around early Sept (Saturday afternoon) and asked to clean the windows in our neighbourhood. Since we had it cleaned already, we passed on it, however, my husband was convinced to do that gutter cleaning. The sales associate and my husband agreed on a cash deal and said they will call before coming. He said most likely around 3pm on Sunday b/c they had other houses to do. We thought it was perfect b/c we had lunch plans and wanted to be back before they came around. My husband wanted to see them clean and see what came out of the gutters. While getting ready to leave, the workers showed up at 12pm! I answered the door and was surprised to see them. I asked how long they will take b/c we needed to leave for lunch and they told us around 30 minutes. We said, okay we will go get cash now (we were planning to get cash on the way home from lunch so we didn't have any). Anyway, my husband went to get cash. 10 minutes later(while my husband was still away), they rang the door bell and said they were done. I asked why so fast? They said they work fast...I was a bit upset b/c I wanted my husband to oversee the job but it was already completed before he came back from the bank. I thought, well it's done already so what can we do? They sat in our driveway and waited for my husband to come and I came into the house. Few minutes later I saw my husband come in all upset saying that they refused the cash deal. The deal was the price we settled on plus tax! WTH??? We were so mad we called the head office the workers left. We explained the situation and the lady worked out a price that included tax but very close to the cash deal price (few extra $ but it was alright). We gave this company our credit card details and thought it was over. I saw a charge to my CC and thought it was done. Well it WASN'T! Few days later, we saw a duplicate charge! So we called and called again...they finally gave us the refund. We then read reviews on here and thought we will never use them again. We should have done more research before agreeing to their service. But I didn't want to post any negative reviews b/c we got our money back. As for the work, don't know how well they did it b/c we never got to see it.
UPDATE: I see another charge on my CC today!!! My husband called and they said that they've had some issues where duplicate payments are being charged by their merchant. What? What does that mean? Really...regardless of who charged what, they should not be doing business this way. I regret so badly that we even gave them our credit card details. Oh well lesson learned. We are to call back and speak to another person later today...we shall see about the refund. I think it's funny how they already know about this issue but will not issue a refund right away. Instead we have to call back and speak to another person. I used to work for accounts receivable before. To charge credit cards, you literally have to punch in all the details into the machine. So I am not sure who this could've been done by a mistake. Whatever the explanation they have, duplicate charges months after services should NEVER happen.
