Bought new spa

Initially, the tub was delivered and the lifter was back ordered. I called multiple times to ask for it to be delivered. Eventually they had one and told me I could pick it up. I asked them to deliver it and install it as I paid for that service. They eventually agreed. When they arrived, they discovered the tub had been placed too close to my house to install the lifter. It was winter by then, so they told me I would have to wait for spring. In the mean time, my stereo quit working. They tried fixing it unsuccessfully so we decided to wait until the lifter was installed to fix it. When spring came, it took multiple calls to eventually get an appointment to have the lifter installed and the stereo fixed. In the mean time, had a deck built. My deck had access underneath and 6" clearance to allow removal of the panels. They moved the tub to fix the stereo. Not only was the stereo not fixed, but the tub was put back crooked. When I re filled it, it didn't work. I assumed I had created an air lock based on the error code. I emptied and re filled the tub and it still didn't work, despite following the air lock relief procedure. As a final step I was going to release the fitting at the top of the pump. The tub, now crooked, was too close to the deck at one corner to remove the top screws. I asked the, to come back and fix the problem. They told me it was my fault that there was an air lock and that the tub was in the wrong place (even though they moved it). I had the tub, empty and non-functioning for about 6 weeks. The owner eventually called and I told him I had hired someone to move the tub back to where it was to which he replied "Awesome". I told him it wasn't particularly awesome as I wasn't particularly happy. He replied sarcastically, "why, because you had to move your OWN hot tub?" I cursed and hung up. The owner then texted me, called me a baby and that I was being refused service for being abusive. I paid another company to move the tub and get it working. They discovered that there was no air lock, the Polar Spas techs had unplugged the pumps from the circuit board. Polar Spas continues to blame me, the customer, for any and all problems. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE, EVER, buy a tub from this company. My stereo still doesn't work, incidentally.

NIGHTMARE FROM HELL

DO NOT BUY A HOT TUB FROM THIS COMPANY. FROM DAY 1 i have had nothing but problems . They claim this is a chem free hot tub and the water would be crystal clean 100% of the time.. this couldn't be more false! I basically have to change the water after every use. I get nothing but the run around from "service" if thats what you want to call them . As well as the "GSM" Aaron . They claim there is nothing wrong with the tub except the fact i cannot use it due to the smell of the water .
I have had the tub approx 3 months , used maybe 10 times and changed the water approx 5-6 times.... this has to be the worst tub/experience i have ever gone through. Save yourself the headache and save your money and buy somewhere else !!

Company Response

Thank you for your review Darcy. Our service team would have been much quicker to respond had you remembered upfront that the spa was purchased under a different name. Since pulling your file, our service team has been out to your house and has taken your hot tub out of economy mode. When a spa is in economy mode it will not filter as it needs to when the spa is being used. It will also not heat up to 104. Now that your filter cycle is set properly you will not have an issue. Thank you again for choosing Polar Spas.

This is the second tub I've owned from Polar Spas and I'm even happier with this one than the first. I find the staff knowledgeable, friendly, and forthright. We use our tub 4-5 times a week all year round as we are very active and like to end the day with a relaxing soak. I have only ever had one problem after 6 years of ownership and it was repaired almost immediately. We barely need chemicals and although it may cost more to heat it than hoped in the winter it balances out over a year, especially the new tub. Doug and Chris have always treated us well and we have recommended them to many who have also been happy.

I would like to start out by saying Thank you to everyone at Polar Spas.
My sales guy was Sean. He was very knolegable in all aspects of the tubs and friendly.
My wife and i have spent countless hours going through many other hot tub retailers but we stayed with Polar Spas.
We did not feel preassured by Sean to purchase the tub and we did buy one. It was a big purchase and my wife and i felt very informed.
Its been over 1 year now with our tub and every time we get in it, we still say "What a Great Purchase".
I will gladly send any friend of mine to Polar Spas to purchase theur tub.
If anyone deserves a Slow Clap, its the great people working there.
Doug is the General manager and i am always greeted with a smile when i come in to purchase any product.
Way to go.

Atlantis hot tub

I purchased my hot tub brand new from Chris Shaw at Polar Spas in South Edmonton in 2007. When I bought the hot tub, I was not pressured by any of the sales staff, they said shop everywhere and pick the one which you think is the best. In the end I am so glad I brought my business and 4 other people back to polar spas. From the sales team who were very knowledgeable about the product and how it lasts a lifetime, to the great service I have received whenever I had an issue or concern, I could not be happier. In 5 yrs of owning the hot tub all I had was a speaker malfunction, Polar Spas had the service guy Chris out the next day to replace it at no cost to me! My hot tub still looks and runs like new because I follow what Polar Spas has told me! Thank you Polar Spas for continuing to take care of me and my friends!!!

Bought a tub

Picked up a tub last year, our sales person was Doug. Was told all sorts of stories how they would be there for us and how this tub would be excellent in the winter. Not working out so well. The 20 dollar promise for heating the tub, yeah, that to is a joke. They will tie you up in red tape so far that you will forget what you were first asking about. Bottom line is that they are schisters and once they got your money, not very much help. What do you do when you have a tub and no one to fix the problems which started at purchase. Buyer totally beware.

after sales service

The after market service by the technician Chris Daley and the custumer service provided by the manger Chris Shaw, are horrible. Stay away from this company, they will only cost you money. I asked to have a pump looked at, nothing else, just looked at and advise me of an issue with it. Instead they threw it out and told me it was not working. It was working when i took it in, just making a noise. I would recommend you use any other dealer for your hot tub repairs, and a good company to use is Spa Time Electronics. Peter Thomson was a great help to me to get the problems polar spa caused repaired.

Company Response

Hi Gord, we realize it has been over a year since you have posted this review - however we would like to explain to you what happened from our point of view. Our service department took in your pump and assessed that it was not working. After selling you a new pump, they threw out your old broken one. You then came in to get your old pump back and were told we had thrown it out, based on the circumstance that you had already purchased a new one. We sincerely apologize for throwing out your broken pump without your consent. Since then we have made sure to adjust out service policy to asking a customer whether or not they would like to keep their used/broken parts.

Polar Spas

My father and I are experiencing back issues. We needed something to help relieve the symptoms. A spa was the answer.

In August 2011 we purchased a spa from a Costco Store. We couldn't resist the price, guarantee and the return policy.

Prior to purchasing the spa I spoke with Ryan the Manager of the spa in the US. He addressed all of my questions and confirmed their spas were conducive to our Edmonton, AB climate. I gave Ryan our cost per KJ and he worked out the maximum cost to heat their spa in our winter. He said it would be maximum $30-$50 in the coldest months.

We decided to purchase their spa. We started with the hassle of trying to deliver the spa ourselves. It was a nightmare.

We got the spa set-up and started to use it. Concerns began when the Blower was blowing cold air into the spa in August. I contacted the Spa company again. They confirmed their Blower was not heated. They said their Canadian customers do not use the Blower in the winter because it pulls in air from outside and cools the spa. I said this is summer, not winter and we are already having issues. I said this will not work. We want to get full use of the spa all year round. We don't want to have to pay exorbitant heating costs to run the spa.

We also contacted Enmax to find out how much our utilities had ncreased since we installed the Spa. They confirmed our bill increased by a $130 for the first month. We weren't happy.

Our final issue with the spa was ozonator. It was supposed to reduce the amount of chemicals. This was a fallacy. We were using chemicals like crazy to maintain the balance in the spa.

All of these issues prompted us to want to return our spa to Costco and research other alternatives. We started to research and compare the different spa companies locally. We did our due diligence and researched thoroughly the different options and spas. In the end we chose to purchase a spa from Polar Spas (Southside Location). We were originally dealing with Aaron, then Doug. They have been wonderful!

I am not the easiest customer. I research my purchases. Cost, quality and customer service are very important to me. Everything has to be justified and proven. What originally convinced us to purchase from Polar Spas was Aaron/Doug(Customer Service), the quality of the spas/jets, the R-Max Guarantee(lowers heating costs) and the Corona Discharge System (reduces product usage). The price was not the lowest, but we felt the savings on running the spa (heating/products) would justify the cost in the end.

Prior to making our decision, the other spa locations in the area spoke poorly about Polar Spas. They said the quality and customer service was terrible. I addressed these concerns with Aaron. He said in the past they had grown very quickly and did have some issues with customer service. They were working towards to addressing/maintaining customer service. Doug gave me references and I contacted all of them. Everyone I spoke with shared their experience with Polar Spas. One did have a minor issue in the beginning, but Polar Spas addressed their issue/concern immediately. Overall, everyone was extremely happy with the quality, heating, product usage and the customer service of Polar Spas.

Our Polar Spa was delivered on Oct 18, 2011. They returned the Spa to Costco. Since we have purchased our spa dealing with everyone at Polar Spas has been a pleasure. Anytime we have had a question or a minor concern it has been addressed promptly and professionally. We couldn't ask for more...

Also Polar Spas was the only company that didn't speak negatively about their competitors. I felt they were more confident with their spas and their company. They believed in what they were representing and selling. I can appreciate their integrity. There was never any pressure.

The seating arrangements in our Polar Spa are excellent! The product usage is minimal. My father is surprised how user friendly our Polar Spa is to run and maintain. We can't comment on the heating costs for the entire year, yet. So far everything is great!

Originally we had ordered a Polar Spa without a stereo, due to the fact we have outside speakers. My father was going in for a sudden surgery. We could not wait for our spa to arrive. They had our spa in stock with a stereo. Due to time constraints we decided to have one with a stereo delivered. We really didn't want to spend the extra money on the stereo. Now that we have a spa with a stereo built in we would never buy a spa again without a stereo. The listening experience is superior in the spa when the speakers are right by your ears vs. above your head. I love music!!! The sound is excellent!!!

Overall, we couldn't be happier. It's one of the best investments we have ever made. We love our Polar Spa!!! We would highly recommend a Polar Spa to anyone if you want a quality spa for the price with excellent customer service!!!
