Home Depot Canada Flooring Installation

Received 4 estimates for the same job and they went up to over $8,300 from the original estimate. I was asked to prepay the project in its entirety upfront (no holdback). I discovered that the labour hours expended on the installation totalled 116 hours (installer, helper and labourer) for this I was charged over $9600! They refused to give me any credit for labour as they claimed the labour quote was "untouchable." I have been writing to Home Depot including Head Office Canada and Head Office USA since November 8, 2016 until today, July 3, 2018 with NO RESOLUTION! I advised the flooring Manager at the Nepean Ottawa Home Depot of the deficiencies in the flooring on October 6, 2017 and to date they have not been fixed. I am forced to go public with my experience.

Avoid Home Depot's Landscaper Installation Services.

I contracted a landscaper through Home Depot's Installation Department hoping to benefit from the protection provided by Home Depot in case of problems with the landscaping contractor. Well, I was wrong. Home Depot is not standing by their claim of "RESULTS GUARANTEED. ALWAYS QUALITY WORK. Reliable and Worry-Free". The contractor botched a patio lift, regrade and re-lay job in that the drainage runs towards the house instead of away and the clearance of the patio stones under both the garage passageway door and shed door is insufficient. My recommendation is to save the money and deal with contractors directly instead of via Home Depot.

Never again!

From the very start this was the worse experience ever. The installer stated he had 30 years of experience. From the pictures you can see daylight at the bottom of the door. The door was damaged and took more than 6 hours to install. Never again!

Window Coverings Installation

I had window coverings installed at the end of October 2017. They were a bit too wide as 3 of them, side by side, were overlapping each other and would knock into each other whenever they were opened/closed. I complained about this immediately and was told it would be looked after, i.e. someone would come in to adjust or replace them. It is now the end of FEBRUARY 2018 and they STILL HAVEN'T COME TO REPLACE/ADJUST/LOOK AT IT!!!! I have called Home Depot Customer Care Services 3X, talked to their Escalation Dept 2X, spoke to someone from their Installation Services Head Office 2X and TEXTED THE CRAP OUT OF THE INSTALLER....STILL NOTHING!!!!! DO NOT use this company if you want quality, efficiency and compentence with your service.

Entry Door

Terrible experience with our entry door installation through Home Depot and Peak Installations. We purchased $8K door and installation took from July 14 2017 to October 24 2017. Door was installed too low, missing parts, terrible workmanship and numerous people to resolve problems, multiple reinstallation attempts not to mention my lost time off work. This experience was by far one of the worst ever. Now they are trying to offer us a 10% discount and when we refused their customer service doesn't even return our phone calls or email.

Carpet Installation

Endless processes to get the installation scheduled. An installer damaged my gutters and facia board and took off without saying anything. The carpet came with a big stain on it. Now it's another endless process just to get my gutters fixed and to get the soiled carpet replaced. This has been a total joke. No accountability.

Update: The installation company Advance took complete responsibility, my carpet was replaced and my gutters fixed...very happy now. Will use their, and Home Depots services again.

Install Garden Shed

Very Poor. Very Very Poor Service. They took 2 weeks to call me to schedule a date. Then They gave a me a date that was one month from that point. The guy came on that date and he said I had to clear up the site for him to start his job. He cancelled that appointment and asked me to reschedule it again. I have never seen such a bad service. never ever would a buy anything from here.

Home renovation

Did a home renovation, Home Depot reasonably good on the sales side although far from perfect. Installation - brutal.

Kitchen cabinets - one cabinet incorrect, one damaged, some of the design not as requested. A month after install, still waiting for the missing cabinet.

Flooring - installer measured incorrectly and did not have enough material, more would have to be ordered. Took 6 weeks for material to arrive in store but instead of being installed immediately, will have to wait 10 days until installer has time to do it.

Counters - store promises 2 weeks from time of templating until install. Counter company that HD contracts told me 3 weeks at time of templating. Person booking the installation then tells me 5 weeks, which they lower to 4 weeks when I complain. Install supposed to happen today between 11 and 1, at 12:30 company calls me to say that their truck broke down and they can not do the install until the following week (four working days later).

These are only the lowest of the lowlights, there have been more issues. The big problem is that HD does not have a way to deal with their contractors and issues after the sale. They sell, take the fees in advance and then hand it off to a third party. When the third party fails to deliver, there is no way to get the problem fixed.

Simple message. Don't deal with Home Depot on installation services. Go with a owner operator that can't pass the buck and blame problems on someone else.

Roof & Eavestrough/Soffit/Fascia

BUYER BEWARE... HOME DEPOT !!!!!!!!
We received and accepted a HOME DEPOT quote for a roof installation. The "crew" leader came to do a Pre-Inspection the day before to look at work site details...all was OK. The morning they were to start the job, we got a call from HOME DEPOT, saying they couldn't proceed with the job..citing "unforeseen issues" and to do this job, they would charge an extra $8,000!!!! HOME DEPOT Customer Care Management have done NOTHING to help..Bizarre as it sounds, this actually happened....If it didn't actually happen to us, would find this
story very unbelievable!! Go elsewhere for Home Installation job!!!!!

Roofing

I was very disappointed with Home Depot Installation Services. I ordered new roof installation. Fist of all sales representative assured me that my credit card would be charged only after completion of the job and if I am completely satisfied. In fact, my credit card was charged two days before they started to work, full amount. Job was done very poorly. Upon completion of the job installation crew was notified that some installation was done poorly but they refused to fix it and left the site.

$14,000.00
