Ck Moving And Storage No Longer In Business

Moving from Ontario to Fort McMurray with CK Movers was the worst experience I have ever had. The stories that I have read above were almost word for word what has happened to us! We were told that the truck broke down in Toronto and that they couldn't get it fixed. This was 2 days before they were scheduled to be in Northern Alberta, a 4 day drive from our starting point in Cobourg, Ontario, an hour east of Toronto. This was September 11. AJ then told us that if the truck was not fixed by September 18, they would send a truck from BC to Toronto to get it! When asked why they wouldn't just contract another company to get our things to us in a timely fashion, we were told that because it was the busy season, they couldn't get any other company to do this. We told AJ that we wanted a call the next day to keep us updated as to what was going on. We never received any phone calls from them. If I didn't call them, they wouldn't have contacted me for a couple of weeks! When we finally did get a call from Boris on October 3 telling us that the truck would be there the next day, he told me the price, and hadn't even discounted us!! I was beyond mad at this point! When I got angry about the price, Boris's remark was "Would you like to get your things back or not?" When I told him that AJ had promised a call from the owner of the company he told me that he would not let me talk to the owner because I was just going to give him a bad name! When our things got here, there were fragile boxes crushed, several broken items, including a custom oak table, and crystal wine glasses left to me from my mother when she passed away. The only good thing from this move was the 2 men, Bill and John, who were the movers, but they were not employees of CK, only on contract. They saw the damage done to our belongings, pointed things out to us when they saw it as they were taking it off the truck.
I would not recommend CK Movers to move me across the street! Don't make the same mistake I did!

We had a cross country move last month with CK Moving. Everything ended on a good note. Our sales agent & our price that was given was honoured. The way our goods were delt with was pleasing. ..Rather than the minor damaged items that we were expecting to happen anyway. My family and I were relieved at the end of this move. A.J was helpful, their team was organized and we would use them once again in the future. Thanks again CK!

We hired CK Moving to move us from Ontario to BC. Possessions to be packed in Ontario on June 19th and delivered to BC on June 30th. We were told they would call us to confirm times the day prior to packing - none were ever received-we had to initiate to confirm everything. Delivery was to be on June 30th - we called at 1PM and were told "they were on their way". We called again at 2:30PM and were told that the truck containing our possessions had broken down in Revelstoke - they did not know when we would receive our belongings. (NOTE: even if truck had NOT broken down, there was no way the delivery could have been made on June 30th - at 2:30 PM they were still 8 hours away.) It was a long weekend - no one would be in their office until Tuesday morning - so no answers available to us until then. On Tuesday, we were told it would be a week before they could deliver as the truck had to be fixed. We asked why they would not rent another truck - send another of their trucks - anything! They said that they only had two trucks, and the other one was on its way to the east coast.
Our daily phone calls were not returned - our emails were not responded to. We had to phone them constantly to try and find out what was going on. Every time we asked to speak with a manager - there was never one available. We had moved across the country into a new home - we knew no one - and we had no furniture....nothing. The delivery date was then moved to July 12th - then again to sometime between July 12th and July 14th - it was FINALLY delivered on July 12th...almost 2 weeks after it was supposed to arrive. Two weeks of paying for meals at restaurants - of sleeping on the floor in an empty house - of frustration - unbelievable.
When the truck finally did arrive and items unpacked, we noted (and took pictures of) boxes that we had packed - marked on all sides as "FRAGILE - CRYSTAL" and "FRAGILE - CHINA" that had been packed into the truck - on the bottom layer - with a bedroom dresser standing on top of them. I guess it does not matter that the boxes were clearly marked.
I would NEVER recommend these movers to anyone.

By far, the worst service I have ever paid for - bar none. I wouldn't recommend this outfit to anyone unless they wanted to experience what it is like to experience a true to life nightmare. Keep your hands close to your wallet because these guys will continue to "surcharge you" and "hidden cost you." I would rather ship my goods by donkey across the country than have these people anywhere near me again.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! CK Moving are now building a reputation as careless, inconsiderate, incompetent movers. Not just my opinion see Yelp site and search CK Moving, or BBB, or Yellowpages. They consistently break, dent, smash and lose items. Ignore claims, are rude and ignorant.

You really don't want to listen to their song and dance justifying themselves. If you do use - well you were warned.
