I read the reviews and tried really hard to keep an open mind, there were good and bad reviews so I gave then the benefit of the doubt. I am rural in the Speyside area and my only option is wireless. I was tired of Rogers and their pricing, so I called Standard Broadband with some optimism. One of their towers is less than a 1/4 KM from my house with line of sight, so I was told to expect a solid 9MBs to 10MBs on the 12/1 plan
The install was great. The tech was courteous and really good and I couldn’t have been happier with the job he did. Again, he said “oh yeah, this close to a tower, you’ll get 9-10 easy”. Install compete and tested at 9MBs on a Friday afternoon. Pretty good and I was very happy.
I've been having problems with speed but I will say, they are really trying to find the issue and fix the problem. So for now, I will reserve judgement. The do get a 5 star rating for effort when the VP of Operations calls me back at 6pm on a Sunday trying to get things sorted out. Time will tell if they are able to restore the quoted speeds.
C'mon Standard Broadband, I'm really cheering for you. Nothing would make me happier than to give my internet provider 5 Stars.
