Gold Star Windows And Doors

Roman met our request for evening visit for estimate, 8/10/11. He was pulled away to speak with another customer during initial discussion, so substituted upgrade to clear-view screens on all street side windows by way of apology. Gold Star prices were as advertised, very competitive, no bait-and-switch, no surprises. Good advice, changing from triples of individual windows to combined unit, much better air seal and appearance. Project manager Andrew visited to go over installation plans, extremely professional. Reminded to save all stickers for tax records on energy star windows. Installation was carried out quickly and efficiently (two days), minimal intrusion, great cleanup. Busy season, so six weeks from start to finish: order, manufacturing, to installation. Competitive price, looks great, much more comfortable and no leaks/problems after a year installed with a lot of extreme weather -- wind and driving rain.

We are already enjoying the increased comfort and warmth of our new Gold Star windows. We didn’t realize how drafty our home was until there was no more draft. We were not the only ones to appreciate this newfound comfort. We have 5 seven foot plus Ficus trees throughout our home. In the early Fall we bring them inside and take them back outside in late Spring. Ficus trees are very sensitive to drafts – ie. their leaves fall off. Each year while in the house these trees lose a significant number of leaves on a weekly basis. We noticed almost immediately that the trees in the areas where the windows had been replaced had not dropped a single leaf. This is a real testimony to the quality of your windows and the expertise of your installers.
We would be happy to recommend Gold Star windows to anyone as they really do live up to their claim.

Ten years ago, GoldStar Company replaced all of the windows and doors in our house. Five years ago, we hired GoldStar Company to replace five windows and a set of french doors for us, in a new house. We were happy with their work, and the whole experience. Recently, we thought we would replace the remaining windows and doors in the house. We worked with the sales person Alex and did not move forward with the project because in the end, it was more than we wanted to spend at this time. We opted to fix up what we have for the short term, wait another year or two, save a little more, and do the project then. When we are ready to do this, we will return to GoldStar Company. They have always provided top-notch service to us, from the sales to the install and follow-up.

Ilia did an accurate job describing the product and pricing. The window are still very new so we don't have a longitudinal perspective on the quality. The staff installed in about 1 day using multiple workers. There appeared to be good oversight of the installation process and windows measurements taking prior to the order were carefully checked prior to installation. My husband was very pleased with the process. I am a bit of a perfectionist... Overall, at this early stage, I would recommend GoldStar Window company because it appears that you get exactly what they say you will get. These are as pretty as Pella widows but the product appears to perform the same without all the extra (pricey) bells and whistles Pella tried to upsell during their sales pitch. We replaced all the windows in our three story home. The sales person Ilia from GoldStar Window did not try to oversell and was not pushy which was a big plus.

The sales person Nick came in and was diligent after. He was competitively priced and knowledgeable of the product. The job lasted one 12 hour day and all 14 windows were installed. The workers Alex and Sergeo came 15 minutes before scheduled which was great because I had to go to work early in the morning. They were here when I got back and said they could get everything done that day. They went through after the installation to tell me about each window, the upkeep, etc. Alex and Sergeo cleaned up after themselves and were gone. The only opportunity was that the estimate install date was 2 weeks before the installation was completed. Some of this was due to the weather (rainy) but it would have been nice if I received more communication on this change. Overall, Gold Star did a great job.

The sales person Sandra gave me a relatively low-pressure approach (for windows), and I think the price was fair, though not a huge bargain, but it is hard to tell which discounts are real and which are standard. In any case, the Gold Star project manager Andrew immediately called me to measure the windows, and they were very responsive throughout the process.
Before teh work, I was concerned about lead, given that these were original windows in bad shape in a 1920s era house and I have small children; but they did an excellent job cleaning up and securing the job site. The quality of the work was great, Ivan spent hours getting everything in good shape, and were even careful to wrap the windows in appropriate colors, leaving the best of the wood detailing exposed. Ivan and Serge were polite, and were happy to go over every detail.
That being said, the window quality seems terrific, and the job was excellent.

I was impressed by the sales person Roman and the heat lamp used to show the energy efficiency the windows. I tend to be skeptical and had the sales person use the headlamp/measuring apparatus on windows I had installed in my home as well as the window samples he brought to gauge accuracy. My windows performed much poorer than the GoldStar windows. No other company had given me an example of objective information that could be compared as easily to my own windows. The GoldStar windows also were CSA rated. The installation took one day. My wife was home for it rather than myself, but it went smoothly. My wife said it was clear the crew knew what they were doing. We've had the windows in for about 5 months now and they are a great improvement. The prior owner had had some windows replaced on the first floor before we moved in and I can tell the difference with these. Really a tremendous value for the price.

I'm afraid if I 'gush' on here too much you won't believe me but honestly, this is by far the BEST experience I have EVER had with any type of home remodeling. When GoldStar came out to do the estimate they were right one time, when they said they would be here to replace the windows they were right on time...unbelievable! The day I had the work done, they were like an army. They came in, I showed them around the condo and then I had to take a call for work. I came out from the office and in that short period of time, tarps were layed out, they had 4 windows already out and they were starting the prep work for the new windows. Each of the guys Serge and Vlad were super friendly, professional, courteous and respectful, it was like they actually knew they were in someone's home and not just 'doing a job'. As far as the actual windows, I have to admit, when I got the quote I thought the quality wasn't going to be what I wanted it to be but I went on faith of the other people who have posted on here and I'm glad that I did! The quality of the windows is WAY better than my old ones. I would say the noise from outside (I live in Mississauga) can be a bit much with the cars, buses and foot traffic and these windows probably cut the noise by at least 70%. Also, they mentioned they would trim off my windows but even I didn't expect them to REALLY trim the windows like they did. They look 100% better than before. With winter coming, that will be my final test on how much better off I am with these windows. We have had a few cold nights and I really feel that it's helped already but I'm going to wait for the gas bill in Jan and Feb to tell me how much better. I really don't feel ANY drafts though which I definitely felt from my old windows. Well, if you read this whole bit you see that I did end up 'gushing' but really it's how I feel. Great company. Great people. Great product. I simply can't say it any better.

excellent experience with Roman; he worked up a great price for project; was able to work out a deal to save more money with Gold Star for final finishing of trim work with me picking up and paying for trim wood for inside framing; work crew Serge, Alex, Ivan did an excellent job cutting and installing trim; workers cleaned up every day after their work; work was done in estimated time of 2 days;

I was very nervous because I was just ripped off by another contractor and fired them. They made me feel at ease and explained everything. Roman was great in coming out to look at my problem window. Gave me a reasonable estimate to fix something another company said I could only fix by installing an entire new window. Repair work done in quick manner & they were clean. Gold Stars were quick, neat, polite, professional and caring.
