We hired MAK Mechanical to install a lake loop geothermal system. They installed just over half of what they charged us for. (They quoted us 1300 feet and installed only 730 feet).
We had to hire another contractor to salvage the job when MAK Mechanical denied any problem existed, The lake loop was verified by the equipment manufacturer to be severely undersized.
We had to sue them to get our money back. At trial we were awarded costs plus lawyers fees in addition to our entire claim amount. Well over $11,000 in all. Mak Mechanical then ignored the request to pay according to the court judgment, so we had to garnish their bank account to get our money.
We did get all of our money back thankfully, but it took us nearly a year and a half and considerable expense to force MAK to do what was always the right thing. We were told many times that they “stand behind their work” but they never set foot on the job site after they were notified of the problem.
You can read our story on the BBB website. Thank goodness for Ontario Small Claims Court!
This is my personal experience with MAK Mechanical.
